The characters that would make Awdry famous, and the first stories featuring them, were invented in 1943 to amuse his son Christopher during a bout of measles. The first book (The Three Railway Engines) was published in 1945, and by the time Awdry stopped writing in 1972, The Railway Series numbered 26 books. Christopher subsequently added further books to the series.

I was never a fan of Thomas, but my son loves him.
The stories were alright and the pictures were definitely dated, but the facial expressions were funny.
There were four or fives stories in this little book.

This book always made me laugh every time I read it! Follow Thomas and his friends on a series of humorous adventures.

In every story, Thomas learns a lesson and gets into a variety of escapades. I used to have a toy of Thomas the Tank Engine and I used to reenact the stories with it. I always enjoyed play acting stories I read with toy figures.

Buku Damar lagi. Tentang Thomas yang masih urakan hehe. Analoginya seperti James Bond di masa Daniel Craig :P. Thomas males dan bosan kerja di yard dan pengin jalan-jalan menjelajah tapi waktu mendapat kesempatan untuk menarik freight cars dia kewalahan, sampai minta ampun. Pengin mancing, tapi waktu tidak sengaja mendapat ikan di dalam tangkinya dia hampir meledak karena safety valve-nya tersumbat ikan. Sok nggak mau memakai snow plow eeh akhirnya terperosok di dalam salju yang disebutnya sebagai silly soft stuff. Dia juga menghina roda caterpillar milik Terence si traktor yang pada akhirnya menjadi penyelamat bagi dirinya. Tapi ada satu bab yang menceritakan sifat dasar Thomas yaitu baik hati dan suka menolong. Dia membantu James yang dinakali freight cars. Karena jasanya itu Thomas mendapatkan tugas di suatu jurusan dengan menarik gerbong Annie & Clarabel.
