This is a very simple book with preschoolers in mind. The book has a lyrical flow to it that you can sing with the children. Students can actually memorize the words so that you can have a sing-along, and a dance can be accompanied with the song. In addition, the book is very good to teach children at this level about counting. The words in the book can be used, since it actually counts numbers. In addition, a recommended activity from the author is to have the children count the kids on the pages. This is a very simple book, but it is valuable for children in a Pre-K class, because it teaches a simple concept in a way that will keep the students engaged. With a song and a dance and the rhyming words, students will also learn to count!
For the reasons listed in the summary, this book is valuable to a Pre-K classroom. Students will have fun with this and learn at the same time.

I believe having a picture book can be a great tool for students to use to create their own stories. They can develop some skills in literacy even if at the beginning stages of becoming a reader.

The book is a poetry book that uses rhyme and repetition. The book begins with two children and then two more children are introduced until all ten have been in traduced. As the children are been introduced new rhymes and patterns are also being introduced. After all ten were introduced the rhyme begins going backwards. The energy of the children is then also decreased. Then other counting patterns are introduced. The book has a song that the children can sing along as well as counting the children in the book.
I would use this book in a primary class where students can practice counting and becoming familiarized with patterns. A lot of repetition and rhymes are used in the book which would help students begin memorizing to help them read.
This fun-filled dancing rhyme features ten young children who dance and rhyme together while practicing their counting. The children come up with fun rhymes, introducing two numbers at a time. When the children reach ten, with a “great big grin,” they start count back down to one. The cartoon illustrations are colorful images of chubby toddlers dancing on a solid background. The toddlers all have colorful clothes and happy faces that young readers will enjoy. This book is a wonderful interactive book. The dance steps of wiggling and waddling around with fingers high are easy enough to teach to a young toddler. Children will love the opportunity to dance with a storytime reader.
Excellent action and use of counting, but a little strange. One of those books that you feel you should be doing standing up, even though standing up with a book in storytime is always awkward: then you and that it's supposed to be a "laptime" selection (I say this because it was specifically reccommended to me for that.
