Lacey was pretty happy with her current leisure existence despite the few complaints here and there. Living on her own rocked her socks. However, while coming home from work one night and based on sheer awful luck, she witnessed a disturbing attack on a young and rather eye-catching youth. Thinking the worse was over she continued to go about her daily business. That is, until the boy she saw sprawled out on the bloody street shows up pressed against her balcony window. Obviously something is wrong. This boy should be dead. He is dead. So why then is he stalking her, in the nude? Does he want to start his own army of creatures of the night or does he feel some kind of enticement to her that is unexplainable? Lacey will soon come to nd that not all legendary stories are true, when it comes to being involved with a Vampire.
The one thing I like about a book the most is when the author can surprise me and Quinn Keitt did just that with this novel. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was surprised that I had been wrong. This book is unpredictable and a wonderful read. There were a few shocking moments that made me cringe, again another trait I love in an author. Crimson Stained is not your average vampire story and for that alone, is worth the read.
Where to start: Through part of reading this book I kept wondering do I like this or not? That was the million-dollar question. I kept reading through it and realized I did like it, not as well as some books but it was a very different and disturbing take on a vampire story! For the things I didn't like: I got tired of all the repetitive use of "hey girl, hey girl, hey" and "Ew"! I wished the reader would have gotten to know more about the character of Kevin, basically he just came in out of no where, which I know the writer wanted it like that but for me a little more background would have been good! The love story of Lacey and Kevin was a bit disturbing and needy. The things I liked about this story: The story itself was so totally different from your sugar cookie type vampire love story! This was gritty and warped and disturbing in so many different ways, but I found I actually liked it after awhile, only because it was different from what I typically read with vampire love stories. The killing of (will not say so not to spoil anything) just totally blew me away and came out of nowhere which was really good because I was shocked and not expecting it! This author told a disturbing tale of a love story in a different way than most! She did not glamorize vampires as most books are and I found that very refreshing! I would read her works again just to see how the next book was. If you’re looking for a different type of vampire story, for the price you should try this one out. If your looking for glamorous vampires your in for a rude awakening! This has disturbing, possessiveness, and very needy love story in it, even with that being said, because of how it was written it actually worked. With the character of Lacey, you got to know her on an emotional level and could identify with her on how she felt. I mean we all felt like her sometime in our lives when we were younger. The relationship she had with her parents was well written and sad, but you were so excited when her mother finally comes to visit. As stated before, it was a change of pace that I welcomed after getting into the story.
