I wanted to read this because.. well come on? A ferret shifter looking for a big, bad Dom just strikes me as funny and tongue in cheek. Thankfully the story delivers exactly that. It’s not big on character development and the writing style is not necessarily memorable but it’s humorous and entertaining with some hot sex so frankly I enjoyed reading this.
Mika is a ferret shifter, though no shifting takes place in the story. Supposedly ferrets are predators but all Mika wants is a big, bad Dom to top him. So he finally goes out cruising on Christmas Eve and finds a prairie dog shifter who can give him what he wants. The scene is quick to set up and mostly sex based but throws some fun humor into the mix. It keeps the jokes entertaining without being stale and adds some delicious BDSM tinged sex to top it off.
If this had been any longer than the very quick story it is, it likely would have run stale but it fits perfectly as a quick bite with a funny hook and some good erotica. If you’re looking for something light hearted and fast, think about this one.

Okay, Chris found this and I got so intrigued I had to read it. It’s billed as comedy/parody and it has a pretty cute cover for Changeling Press. Mika is a were-ferret who decides on Christmas Eve he needs to get laid and he needs someone dominant to do it. Even though he lives in a town of prairie dogs and he’s a ferret, which is a predator, he’s much more of a sub. So he goes to the local gay bar where he hooks up with very dominant prairie dog and bar owner Owen. It’s just the one night covered in the book. Was it comedy/parody? Well there were some cute moments, I liked Mika, he’s kind of your usual flighty nervous sub type and yes, were-ferrets and were-prairie dogs are kind of funny. It’s not rolling on the floor funny but it’s cute and all in all an okay read for something different. However $3 for 16 pages ain’t cheap, luckily I had a credit sitting at Changeling so it didn’t really hurt that much.

A quick, fun read involving a wereferret and a were prairtie dog (no shifting takes place).
The story is all about Mika, the wereferret, wanting to submit. This goes against the grain of what is expected from a predator, not that Mika really struggles with that. But Owen, the were prairie dog, doesn't mind in the least - he's ready to give Mika all the spankings he wants.
Not a story containing character development, emotions or a relationship (although the possibility is hinted at). It still managed to engage me for the humor of the situation and the care Owen ultimately takes in Mika's welfare.

Interesting characters: a ferret and a prairie dog shifter. Good start, but other than the mention and some similarity to appearance of the ferret I never got a good sense of the animal in the man. Granted it was a short story. The story talks big and tough and is marshmallowy. A tiny bit of spanking and then just sweet loving. Cute, but I guess I'd hoped for more.

Fun, flirtatious and just plain cute. Mika is the most adorable character and Owen seems to fit him very well; I'd love to read more shorts, following these two through a bit more of their scenes and/or 'get togethers.' ^-^

While this m/m paranormal romance about a ferret shifter going to a prairie dog shifter bar is billed as being a satire, it only managed that once or twice.

Can't put my feeling on why, but this was only ok. I didn't really care for either character.
