Everything that glitters isn’t gold, but try telling that to Lalana George. She’s starry-eyed after winning a date with her favorite rap star. It’s champagne wishes and caviar dreams as she enters the sparkling world of hip-hop royalty. But once the sparkle fades, she realizes her idol might not be what he seems.
Logan Thomas is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. At first glance, he’s just another blue collar worker, but a closer look reveals he’s a handsome and successful business owner who knows how to treat a lady. He understands what Lalana needs before she’s able to recognize it herself.
Will Lalana realize the truth in front of her eyes, or will she fall victim to the seduction of fame and fortune? As Lalana learns how to trust her own heart, will she be able to hold onto the man of her dreams?

This book was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frustrating Lalana what a wreck. I thought this was romance or something like it because what I read from the book preview it did not seem that way to me, but the only reason I finish this book was because of Logan. 95% of the book was her having sex with ROC the rapper who treats her like crap, first couple times ok but come on and Logan I felt so sorry for him at one point I thought I made a mistake and maybe she was suppose to end up with ROC because they were having sex so much, and when she finally got with Logan it was like 3 or so pages of the book. I'm not trying to hurt the author's feelings but I love reading all types of romance and how the authors wants the characters is whatever but to make her desperate and played like that so many times makes you not want to read it.
Don't get me wrong she could have done the things she did in the book but it was overly done and we the readers if it seems like the same things keep happening over and over and over it get fustrating really quickly and you feel like you don't want to read anymore too much time was spent focus on Lalana and the rapper it should of been her and Logan half way through the book. The sex was good though heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!.
It was like a train wreck. You know you should look away but you can't. You're to caught up in the frightening fascination of it all. You know what going to happen, you see the flashing lights and hear the whistle blowing. Everyone can hear it...except LaLana
I rate books a 4 and up based on will I ever read it again. YES I'll read this book again somewhere down the line. Even though the whole time I was calling her an idiot and tell her that she was stupid and no she didn't listen lol. That doesn't take away from the real life feel of the book though it was good and got me all wrapped up in the story. Because everyone has a friend that's been down this road, or has gone down this road themselves before.
A very interesting story of a beautiful African-American woman who is gaa-gaa over a hip hop artist, whose idol worship is a cause for difficulties in her life, and who has an interesting experience through her friends and others she meets in this context who help her see the entertainment industry as well as herself in greater clarity. I found the book quite interesting and appreciated the insight into the whole world of hip hop.
Did not like the hero, or the heroine, even the rap star put me off. I also did not like the fact that heroine spent less time with the hero and I was supposed to like him even when I did not know him? I did not get why the heroine was soooo into the rapper. He was sooo the opposite of a gentleman and treated her like she was less than trash. And the fact that she spent most of her time in the book with this guy was enough to make me scream.
As much as i loved this i couldn't help but think Lalana is a very stupid woman. in this very hot and sexy short strory you have lalana, a big fan of rapper mc roc, win a contest for a weekend with the rapper. i ended up liking lalana, but only after she started doing the right thing for herself. when that happens you kinda wish the story was longer. oh well we can't have everything can we?
I really didn't like this. The main character just acted too sleazy for me. She could have at least pretended not to be a groupie :) but she really would just get on her knees for this rap star at any point. I felt like I was losing my own self-respect just reading her behavior!
The hero, Logan is AMAZING...but I thought he was CRAZY to want to still hook up with Lalana...and Lalana, the heroine had some MAJOR issues...but I was glad she FINALLY got her act together and recognized what a GOOD man she had patiently waiting.
Interesting subject & ideas... Poorly written. The storyline was like a derailed train wreck...hard to follow along & left this read confused!!!! You can tell that there was no proofreader or editing done to!!!
I agree with a previous comment. It was like a train wreck that you couldn't stop watching. The story is believable b/c there really are women that desperate out there. I have a hard time believing Logan would want her after all he saw, but hey it is fiction.
I really didn't like the story line of this novel.. I didn't like the groupie sex thing. yes the romance scenes were great....but the story line needed some help
I want to give this book 3 stars, but it ends so poorly. The ending is much too abrupt. I would have liked to know what Logan saw in Lalana to make him such a saint. But, the story is original.
