Real Life : Real Spice: The Official Story by the Spice Girls

Rate this book
The Spice Girls are one of the most successful pop bands in history. Their debut album, "Spice," has gone platinum six times. Their first book, Girl Power, was an international blockbuster, selling more than a million copies. Following a spectacular 1997, the group kicked off 1998 with hits at the box office and on the pop charts and airwaves. Their first feature film, "Spice World," made a strong US debut, earning $11.3 million in its first five days. Meanwhile, their "Spiceworld" album went double platinum as they scored a major triple win at the American Music awards. Coming off a blitz of nationally televised appearances, including David Letterman and Oprah Winfrey, The Spice Girls return to America in June for their 1998 World Tour. Now Real Real Spice-the first and only official biography of the Spice Girls-goes back to the beginning of this pop phenomena. Together with their family and friends, Emma, Geri, Victoria and the two Melanies talk about their early lives, how they got together, and how it felt when superstardom arrived. Ten chapters chart the Girls' meteoric rise from determined wannabes to the Queens of Pop, in a book packed with family photos, glamour shots, and exclusive interviews. 142 pp 10 x 101/2 230 color & 30 b/w photos

This book has stories of the Spice Girls beginnings, what it was like when they became rich and famous, how it was filming their music videos, Spice World the movie and much more.

It's a really nice book with lots of great pictures and insight into the lives of the girls at the time. It was also nice reading how determined and how much they wanted to become singers. They were all just normal girls who went after their dreams and made it big. If they can do it, anyone can go after their dreams and make it big too.

I thought it was a great book and as the Spice Girls just performed at the Olympics closing ceremony, it was a great time to read it. Any Spice Girls fan will love this book.

Concluding the trilogy that began with "Old Spice", and then "Simply Salt", this new essay on the social contract is both a founding text of western thought and a masterpiece of hot-pants and imagination.

This book was super cute (as all things Spice Girls should be) - I totally love how it feels like a scrapbook of the memories of the girls - but I was slightly annoyed while reading it because some of the type is so small! Maybe my eyesight is getting worse, but I feel like the text is definitely smaller than normal, especially for a book that relies so heavily on visuals. All complaints aside, the contents of the book (both photos and information) were surely a hit during the hey-day of the Girl Power invasion, since they chose a good balance of personal photos (both flattering and not) for each of the girls and featured lots of information about their tours and the film (which was just coming out at the time of publication). The whole thing definitely hit me right in the nostalgia!

+This book is my all-time favorite Spice Girls book...and that's saying something because I've read many!!
+I loved learning about the girls when they first started out. They were such hard workers!!
+The book was text heavy and contained so much information about the girls!! I love how the girls wrote about their past & successes. The sibling's perspectives were great too!
+The photos were adorable!! The captions to each photo cracked me up!
+I'd totally read this again & again :-p

Real Spice goes which goes all the way back to their very beginning, a colorful story painted
like an intricate picture of five very unique young women, Who, together with their sisters and brothers
talk about the early years and young lives and how they got together and diligently worked
at their often, controversial, but highly entertaining careers, and how they coped with stardom when it arrived.
A well written, easy reading and inspiring biography. https://goo.gl/TwgcuU
