The Paris Soulmate is a sweet romance for clean and wholesome romance readers in a charming debut from author Brooke Gilbert. This romantic comedy is the perfect way to travel to Paris while staying in your pjs. You will laugh, cry, and fall in love with the characters. It's a beautiful literary ride.
Brooke Gilbert is a Tennessee native, a microbiology graduate of the University of Tennessee, and a border collie mom. She is, as you may have already guessed, a hopeless romantic and a lover of Jane Austen. When she isn’t writing, she works as a jewelry designer, an audiobook narrator, and a graphic designer. Her writing features characters with autoimmune disorders, something she deals with herself. She believes it is important for these types of characters to be seen in modern literature and started writing so she could see someone like herself in literature. She is considered a medical mystery and has several rare autoimmune disorders. These disorders caused her to withdraw from Physician Assistant School, but she is happy to be pursuing her dreams of designing, creating, and writing. She thanks God for leading her heart on this new path and recites “perhaps this is the moment for which you were created” in times of doubt (Esther 4:14).
She loves watching classic films (thrillers and romantic comedies, too), reading, playing the ukulele, painting, dancing, Pilates, and spending time with her dog, family, and friends. One of her favorite quotes is from Flashdance: “When you give up on your dreams, you die.” She believes that if you’re waiting to pursue your dreams, stop waiting and start doing. Your time is now. And may you never stop being a hopeless romantic. Contrary to popular belief, it’s a very good quality. She’s still looking for her Mr. Darcy. This was AMAZING. I've read alot of books this year and this book takes the cake as one of my top 5 favorite books this year. Such beautiful characters with amazing character development. Christina faces so many challenges in life and Colin is legit the right one to face them with her. So many ups and downs it had me on the edge of my seat fighting for them the entire time. The ending was unexpected but worthy. I loved every moment of this, even stayed up until 2:30am to finish it one sitting. (Yes, this is me leaving a review at 2:30am because I just put the book down and I'm in awe!!) Such a breathtaking journey. I loved how the author created these moments that just engulf you into them that you feel like you're watching it play out right infront your eyes in real time. Beautifully breathtaking.
Side note: I loved how the author took the time and made a Spotify Playlist for this book. So you can listen to it while you read along and it just feels even more magical. She also included Yin Yoga and a Movie list from the book. So much greatness wrapped up in one nicely packaged book.
I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publishers to read and review. All of the statements above are my own true opinions after fully reading this book.
Paris, a whirlwind romance, secrets, deep understanding of chronic diseases/disorders, and nods to classic films made this sweet romance such an enjoyable read! It’s a great debut novel and I’ll definitely be looking for the next book from this author. While the story takes place over a mere week, the insta-love romance felt natural and believable.
Christine suffers from numerous autoimmune disorders. Her dream is to return to Paris now that she has more control over her body. In the airport, she meets a handsome stranger with a delicious Mr. Darcyesque accent and persona. Her cautious nature though kicks in and even over the ten hour flight with him sitting next to her, it’s hard to believe this guy is real. Throw in a caring best friend who can’t be with her because she’s getting ready to have a baby, a meddling older lady, a bet, and the romance of Paris, and you have the makings of a good story. Colin has his own secrets he’s hiding and just when he’s gained Christine’s trust, their budding relationship could all come crashing down.
This book really captured my heart. As someone who also suffers from autoimmune diseases, I could really identify with Christine and the emotions she feels. Her struggle with trying to be independent and yet having to constantly be aware of everything that triggers her symptoms was very realistic. The descriptions of Paris made me feel like I was right there with the main characters, visiting all the famous sites. I appreciated Colin’s compassionate nature and the way he cares for Christine without seeming pitying or condescending. Anyone who suffers from a chronic illness will appreciate all that Christine goes through and feel her triumph when she’s able to fulfill several of her wishes.
It’s a fun, sweet, story with great representation of those who suffer from autoimmune diseases. I also enjoyed the way the author wove faith into the story in a natural way. This is definitely an author to keep an eye on. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.
The Paris Soulmate by Brooke Gilbert is a contemporary romance about Christine, a woman with multiple autoimmune disorders who finally takes her dream trip to Paris only to find an unexpected connection with a mysterious British stranger named Colin, a connection that challenges her fears, opens her heart, and reshapes her ideas of courage and love. What begins as a bucket list adventure blossoms into something tender and meaningful as Christine navigates the beauty of Paris, the vulnerability of her own body and heart, and a man whose secret could change everything.
From the very first page I felt this story as a warm invitation into the City of Light and into Christine’s world: her quiet hopes, her very real struggles with chronic illness, and her deep longing for connection felt beautifully authentic and emotionally resonant. Gilbert’s writing made me feel like I was wandering cobblestone streets with Christine, laughing at small moments with Colin, and breathing in the wonder of a love that seems to appear just when you least expect it.
Christine’s growth, from cautious and tentative to brave enough to risk her heart, was moving, and Colin’s protective kindness balanced perfectly with his own vulnerability about his secret mission. The representation of chronic illness and mental health gave the story a richness that made it feel important and grounded, not just sweet and romantic. While the instant attraction and some predictable moments do lean into familiar romance tropes, the emotional honesty in the characters and the way Paris itself is woven into their journey lifted this above a simple vacation romance.
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars. I am giving The Paris Soulmate this rating because it made me smile, reflect, and feel genuinely invested in Christine’s journey of self discovery and love.
It is a beautifully warm book that warmly embraces imperfections and celebrates the courage it takes to love when life has already asked so much of you.
I had a great time reading this book. A love story that genuinely lived up to the cliché of "once you feel, then understand exactly" while giving people who battle with sickness and anxiety a chance.
After learning that she has a number of uncommon autoimmune illnesses, the main character is off on a vacation of a lifetime. Reading a narrative with such amazing portrayal and no labels for infirmities was like a sigh of relief. Then Colin enters as a "false" buddy who later becomes infatuated; he was just such a fascinating character, and it was clear how he genuinely felt about Christine. Both of them earned everything.
Although insta-love isn't really my thing, I think that the concept suited in this case because of the turmoil that followed. I have to admit that during our brief insta-romance there were some truly sweet moments.
For those who have visited the City of Light before, the setting of Paris makes for a great escape from reality. The description was both straightforward and lovely. Because the chapters are brief and we follow both Christine and Colin's points of view, the writing is simple to understand.
Even yet, I felt as though the love story at times moved a little too quickly and could have been given more time. Nevertheless, this is undoubtedly a narrative for in-between periods and for times when you are feeling restless.
If you're a fan insta love trope and would be interested in this book, I highly recommend that you pick it up when it comes out on December 15th, 2022.

Thank you NetGalley for granting me access to a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a sweet weekend read. Simple, and easy, with a bit of a dip into the serious reality of living when your body seems to be working against you.
Christina takes a very deserved vacation trip after finding out she has multiple rare autoimmune disorders. When so much responsibility for your own life gets put on you so suddenly, I think we all would have reacted the same way. And done all we could to enjoy ourselves while stressing so inwardly about what this means for our future. Christina truly takes on the witty and funny personality of a main character while dealing with so much.
While this isn't the most impactful book I've ever read based on my own experiences, the representation is an eye opener for what happens when life changes so suddenly. And I just adored Christina's character development. The romance was a bit underwhelming, but overall, this was an exciting read I'd love to go back to when I'm in a happier place.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for sending me this ARC read!
The twists and turns, the laugh out loud moments, the heart warming story, I could not put this down once I started reading it! This was the perfect book to slowly get me back into reading romance books. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a romance, loves character development and most of all, people who like me, is head of heels in love with France as a country.
The main character is on a trip of a lifetime after receiving diagnoses of multiple rare autoimmune disorders - it was a breath of fresh air to read a story where there is a wonderful representation and no labels on disabilities - something that I find you don’t get anywhere near as often enough in books!
rep: several rare autoimmune disorders “medical mystery” I. Loved. This. Book. Honestly I don’t know if I’ll ever stop thinking or talking about this book. This book was just one of those that felt so personal and resonated with me so much. The main character Christine, suffers from several auto immune diseases, and has been declared medical mystery, relatable lol. The book starts off as her health journey is on an upside, and she decides to take a trip to Paris, one that she never thought she’d be able to do and was on her bucket list she made while being sick, I also made a bucket list lol. Along the way she runs into our other main character Colin and when I tell you from the moment they met I loved them, I’m not kidding. Christine was a complexed, self-conscious, unsure character in the beginning of the story, and we watched her develop into a confident, proud woman, the character development was perfect. Colin was is the perfect character he was understanding, caring, considerate and very swoon worthy. Him being with Christine just made sense and it was clear to everyone around them. This books setting was perfect, as if I already wasn’t dying to visit Paris, now I am even more. The whole set up for the story was just super cute and original. I love that they were traveling and all the sightseeing places, and I loved the discussion of the settings and the descriptions of them, I feel like that helped connect the readers even more and felt like we were really there. I have truly NEVER felt so connect to the book, in so many scene I could literally picture it happening to me. I underlined probably more than like half the book tbh. This is one of the most relatable, real and moving books with disability rep I have ever read. Maybe it’s just because I connected so much with it, but I also 100% know so many people will fall in love with this adorable love story. Thank you Brooke Gilbert for writing a book that touched my heart so much, I’m holding this one close to me forever.

Rating: 4 stars ⭐️ Tropes: instant connection 👫 enemies to lovers 💋 fake marriage 💍 one bed 🛏 closed door romance🚪
This story follows Colin and Christine, they met at the airport and there was an instant attraction! There was a lot of banter when they were flying to Paris! 🇫🇷
He falls head over heels for her and has second thoughts about the offer he took from her best friend Lola. 🌸
I liked the characters and this story was really cute! He did everything for her! 💕
This story has chronic illness representation.
Thank you to the author and Netgalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this romance novel. Christine was so low on her self esteem and confidence that I could relate to her, also with her immune disorders and feeling like it would be selfish to be in relationship with anyone. I totally understood her reasoning but felt she deserved so much more. Then Colin comes in as a 'fake' friend turned lover, he was jus such an amazing character, the way he truly felt about Christine was undeniable. They both deserved everything, so glad it ended the way it did. Will look out more from this author.
I was drawn to this book by the title and who doesn't want to read about Paris. This was a cute rom com filled with twists and laughter. I loved the main characters and the writing flowed well. Would definitely recommend this book to others. Thank you netgallley and publisher for this ARC read!!
Read it for the: -Instant love/connection -Soulmates -Disability representation -Mental Health Representation -“He takes care of her” -Film and Literature references -Romantic Paris setting
CW: Medical episodes, harassment Final Rating 4/5
A romantic novel that gave a voice to those that struggle with illness and insecurity, while truly fulfilling the “when you know, you know” aspect of a romance.
What I liked the most: The author's overall writing, heartfelt message, disability representation, and Collin, always Collin.
**Long Review Ahead**
To be honest, I struggle with the instant love trope. However, what I enjoyed about this book was that it focused on building the connection between Christine and Collin. This is new to me author, but I loved her unique writing style. I appreciated that this book was written from multiple POVs allowing you to catch a glimpse inside the character's mind. And the PLOT TWIST? I gasped. It was the perfect setup for a conflict in an otherwise uplifting romance. This was a certified kissing book, (LOTS of kissing) with a good dose of emotion that stems from the feeling of not being enough.
I truly appreciated the author's care and research in writing a female main character with multiple autoimmune disorders. It is important to note the realism in Christine’s situation. When you have a debilitating medical condition, you cannot forget you have it - or you get sick. Although on a vacation in Paris, Christine's health was often mentioned, because it was a central part of their character. Her disorders heavily influenced her views on life and romance-and the struggles she faced were true. I teared up at Christine’s self-doubts and Collin’s constant care and reassurance. I loved Collin’s character and his own internal struggles and determination to love Christine. Honestly, Collin is setting the standard in this romance. Representation matters and I have to thank the author for giving a voice to those that may look normal on the outside, but face a terrible battle on the inside and for the message that you are loved and adored, wholly, for being yourself.
In addition to disability representation, I was really impressed at the author's depth in adding moments of faith, accountability, and raising mental health awareness. My only gripe was that the story's pacing slowed in a few spots for me, and I found myself flipping a few pages. I still struggled with the instant love aspect of the plot but was taken in by the strength of the character's feelings as the story progressed. Very small gripes, but not enough for me to stop reading or discourage me from picking up other works by this Author (going to read more by her for sure!).
I would recommend this read to those who enjoy a romance with an accurate representation of disabilities, all set in a city famous for love.

Well, I have to say - I read this cover to cover in one evening. Yes, I stayed up till midnight. I don’t typically read romcoms, but I really enjoyed this one!
Summary:
Christine, a young woman with major health issues, challenges herself by taking a trip to Paris by herself - or so she thinks. Little does she know the part her best friend has played in the scheme.
Along the way, she meets various lovely people, including the charming Colin, who sweeps her off her feet and creates a safe space for her to heal and rediscover herself.
But can her relationship with Colin survive the week in Paris? Or will Christine put up her walls once more?
My Thoughts:
This book is HILARIOUS - I was pretty much laughing aloud by chapter 4. The witty flirting was spot on and so much fun!
As someone who also deals with health issues, I really appreciated Christine’s character. I would have loved a bit more about how her disorders affected her in everyday, small moments, though. Does her hand hurt when she opens the door? Does she feel scared to eat normal food in France? Overall, though, I’m so glad to see someone with chronic illness and pain represented so well in literature.
Colin was incredibly dreamy, to say the least! I especially loved how protective he was, and yet not controlling. And the references to Mr. Darcy? LOVED it. Colin wasn’t all charm and perfection, for which I’m so glad. He has his share of struggles, hurt, and insecurity, and yet he wasn’t some beaten down boy. He was a man, exactly what Christine needed.
And the grandmother? I shan’t say much more on her, because I don’t want to spoil the experience. But trust me when I say, you will ADORE her. I want to be like her when I’m 80.
I found that there were some crutch words and phrases that were repeated throughout, and some repeated information, which was a bit annoying, but it didn’t trip me up too much.
There is a lot of kissing in this book, some of which are just a bit *extra* for my taste, and little much physical attraction for me. That being said, it’s ultimately a pretty clean book, and it’s clear that the author intended for it to be so - kudos to her for that!
All in all, ‘twas a great experience, and I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store!
I received a review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
An insta-love rom com that becomes a lot more intriguing due to the uniqueness of the characters! Our heroine of the story has multiple autoimmune conditions which to many people is a no big deal thing and even a bit of a drag, but to those of us who suffer from multiple autoimmune conditions it is a big deal. The description of the fatigue, aches, pains and more are so very real for us that it was actually kind of fun to see someone like me get to be the girl who gets the romance rather than the girl who is afraid to eat outside the house or go more than a few minutes from home out of fear of what could happen. The insta-love theme isn't my usual cup of tea and the romance part was sweet, if not a bit boring, but for me the weight of the story came from seeing someone like me get to live out the fantasy. This was my first book by this author and it is clear that she understands the autoimmune life so I will definitely be looking forward to more books from her!
I liked the disability rep in this book and the flow of the writing, it was smooth to read. The story was cute and I liked the plot and Paris setting as well as the POV switches from first to third person with Christine and Colin too.
There was insta-love which is not my cup of tea, but I think the concept worked here with the conflict that came after.
The charms of the hero were a bit lost on me, I think because:
a) he asked for a kiss about an hour into them meeting and then called her ‘no fun’ when she said no, he was also very touchy feely with her immediately which came off to me as a bit creepy (though the heroine’s inner monologue did say she enjoyed it)
b) at first he comes across as a pretty bland, good-looking guy with a nice accent. She doesn’t know anything else about him at all before she’s telling him he makes her feel safe and thinks no one understands her like he does.
c) he winks and smirks SO FREQUENTLY
The pacing is a little slow and padded with lots of inner monologue that can get slightly repetitive, as can the dialogue. But it was all super sweet.

#TheParisSoulmate by @enchantingbrookevoiceover rated ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on #goodreads and #storygraph
Wow. I was in tears on several occasions throughout this book. It was truly wonderful.
As someone with auto-immune disorders, and a spoonie (yes I loved those references), I couldn’t believe how relatable Christine was. Her experiences were so very similar to my own, I felt every pain, difficulty and strength and happy moment along with Christine. I completely understood her hesitancy yet willingness. This was written perfectly - you could tell that the writer was experienced in this area.
The romance in this book was all-consuming, yet sweet, beautiful and clear from the very beginning. As a big believer of soulmates - it was so clear in this book. Colin was perfect for Christine and my heart ached throughout the beginning of her story, knowing what pain was to come. It was so cleverly written, I was completely gripped and couldn’t take my eyes away. My heart felt so full of love reading.
I loved the storyline surrounding faith too towards the end of the book. It’s something many spoonies think about, and have to/want to believe in. I found myself a little emotional in these parts.
The Paris setting sounds so beautiful, and obviously a dream of many (myself included to visit). It almost felt like I was right there with them, experiencing everything there was to do and see in Paris.
I loved the side characters in Lola and Doris - just brilliant. Lola made me laugh and Doris made me cry - it was the perfect balance.
This book was wonderful and I feel incredibly lucky to have read this an ARC - I highly recommend this read - it’s different and in my opinion it has never been done before.
The only very small thing I’d change, would be to put ‘Christine’ at the top of her chapters - if you’re doing that with Colin’s it makes sense to do the same with Christine’s!
Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the Advanced Review Copy - I am leaving this review voluntarily and everything said above are my opinions founded by my reading of the book.
The FMC made me dislike her in the first chapter, that's gotta be some new record. Her behavior gave me whiplash, and she was incredibly hostile to Colin the 'stranger' for no reason which made the whole insta-love (which I normally love) highly unbelievable. Don't get me started on that kiss on the airplane, who in their right mind makes out with a stranger they just met, seated on a plane with a person sitting next to them? The betting flight attendants were also a big joke. And don't get me started on Lola, the biggest red flag ever, how dare she??? Not best friend worthy.
My goodness. This was far from good and I couldn't bear to read more. The idea of a person going on an adventure in the city of love, learning to truly live despite her disabilities makes for an amazing concept, but to me this isn't the way to execute such. Such a shame. Wish I liked this more, but I just couldn't.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I love a good romance and the fact that it took place in Paris was just the icing on the cake for me. It had me laughing out loud and it was truly a heartwarming and adorable plot line.
I really enjoyed reading this book, although for ages it was like watching a car accident in slow motion - I knew what was going to happen, but now how or when. When it did happen, I loved how the problem wasn’t just ‘fixed' and the the story ended like what happens in lots of other books, this story continued for long enough for me to feel happy and satisfied by the end. I loved the Parisian setting and you will thoroughly enjoy the descriptions of all things French if you love France like me. I received an advance review copy for free, through BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
“You really need to start seeing yourself as other people see you. I promise, it’s a pretty great view."
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Paris Soulmate is a very sweet book that deals with two tropes I am usually skeptical about: the instant love trope and the MMC being payed to be around the MFC trope. I usually have a hard time getting over the deceit and the lies that are the main ingredients of this kind of stories. And I usually need to feel the characters feelings grow slowily and steadily in time. So, at first, I was afraid I could not fully like this story. But you know what? I actually liked it a lot! With the use of an absolutely intriguing writing style and very well written dialogues, the author got me hooked from page one! She stroke all the right cords and simply brought out my hopeless romantic personality. I mean, the love story between Colin and Christine is just sooooo sweeeeet! Their banter is on fire, and their romantic connection is just as strong. Christine is so fragile and yet so strong and independent. Colin is cocky and yet so protective. They both want the same thing: someone to challenge them, someone to see them for them... all of them. So, they are just so perfect for each other! I dare you to read this book and not fall in love with the idea of falling in love (and with Colin, honestly). Because of/ thanks to this book, it will surely take me some time before I go back to being completely cynical.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
"Soulmates don’t come to us as we expect them to. They don’t come in the package we expect, they don’t come the way we expect, and they certainly don’t come when we expect.”
Christine and Colin had amazing chemistry, instantly connecting and growing even closer by the time their plane landed in Paris. Colin cherished her and if nothing else wanted her to remain with the truth that she was enough, and a beauty to behold no matter her disorders.
I loved that I fell in love with Paris as I read this story; I got to go with them to different places, from Colin's awe-inspiring declaration of love at the Louvre in front of the Mona Lisa 😍, cruising on the red moped 🛵 to Normandy, having a caricaturist draw their portrait 🎨, and meeting amazing people.
The plot twist a few chapters in had me intrigued to find out how things would play. Their love was so cheesy, but that made it even sweeter, that they could let go and risk it all for another having only known each other less than a week. I absolutely loved this 🥰
EN: Thanks to Booksirens who gave me the book as a review copy. My opinion was not affected by this.
In this story we follow Christine who just wants to enjoy a holiday and dares to go out when she meets the smart and annoying handsome Colin. The writing style is easy to follow as the chapters are relatively short and we follow both Christine's and Colin's perspectives but also in the third perspective. Overall I thought the book was okay, but I had different expectations of the book. What I particularly liked was the setting that Paris was simple and beautifully described and then I liked all the movie quotes that were mentioned again and again and were just nostalgia. Still, I have to admit that sometimes the love story was a bit too fast for me and it should have been given more time, but overall it was okay. Definitely a story for in between and when you have wanderlust.

Reeling from the reality of turning 30 soon, Christine decides to take her bucket list trip. She has always dreamed of going back to Paris, but since being diagnosed with several rare autoimmune disorders, she never imagined she would get the chance to return.
Now she finds herself on her way to the city of love with an unexpected surprise. An extremely handsome British stranger seems to have mysteriously fallen onto her path. Is it just a coincidence they are both traveling to the city of love at the same time? It all seems too good to be true. Will Christine find what she is looking for in Paris?
The Paris Soulmate is a sweet rom-com that takes you on a seven-day whirlwind trip to Paris. It will have you swooning and laughing. Christine was such an interesting character to read about. She is a lot of walls, fears, regrets and wishes for the future. It was fun to see one of her dreams come true throughout this book in getting herself to Paris. There was however insta-love which is not my cup of tea, but I think the concept worked here with the conflict that came after. Everything seemed to happen so fast between the two of them that there was very little build-up throughout the book. Their days in Paris felt repetitive despite the different locations. I would have loved more of an epilogue and maybe more from Doris or the other side characters to bring more laughs and dimension to the book. I also applaud the author for her representation of autoimmune diseases and major health challenges. She does a great job letting the reader in on those complications and what those situations can entail. All in all I enjoyed this book and love that the author included a movie list and Spotify list to be enjoyed along with the book. I felt like I was in Paris and that’s always a wonderful place to be.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for granting me a copy of this book!
Okay, it was a very fun read. The trip around France with two adorable people and a group of interesting characters. At first I thought the pace was too fast, instant connection, all smitten from day one sounded like a bad plan but then it was carefully supported by understandable reasoning. I enjoy the banter in the first few pages, I appreciate the representative being portrayed in the book, I like the romance too.
What is missed for me is the role of Francois, he didn't feel very present to me, like, he was a filler. And Doris, oh she was an interesting lady, I somehow wished to see more of her.
However, I greatly enjoyed the book!
Ps. I want to rant about Lola but I am afraid I'll spoil the whole thing so for now, I will zip my lips
I really enjoyed this story. It’s a different take on the “meet cute” and “fall in the love at first sight” tropes. Both Colin and Christine are intriguing, well written characters and their story has many twists and turns along the way. Christine had numerous medical autoimmune disorders…. Which I later read the author does as well. Christine’s illnesses have made her afraid to get involved with anyone. While Colin was halfway in love with her from a photo alone. But he has secrets too. Their visit to Paris puts them in the right place for love. Will this city work it’s magic? Their journey is sweet, funny, frustrating, sad and sexy. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance stories with a twist. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It was a cute read, unexpected love in an unexpected way.
I loved the main character's and how the author wrote their story with lots of highs and lows, I was rooting for their love story. This was a quick read for me and I found myself fully invested in the outcome . I love that the author writes her main character with autoimmune diseases…..the often silent sickness that others can’t see.
Things I LOVED •The realness of the character: Real fears and insecurities •Disability Rep: •Actual depth of conversation between MC’s •Gorgeous Parisian Setting
I also really liked the little map of the places in Paris as well as the movie list, yin yoga positions and the playlist that all added to the story. I can not stress enough how amazing a read this was, a heart warming story.
A crazy, romantic, magical tale. Christine and Colin meet at the airport on the way to Paris, or so it seems to her. Little does she know her best friend Lola played a part in her run in with him. Colin has a role to play, bodyguard, friend and hopefully more to the woman that has seemingly been dropped into his hands when a call for help from a friend came in. Super sweet, fun adventures. Totally crazy, deceitful twists. Something for everyone in this novel. I really enjoyed the characters and their budding relationship. Though at times I found there to be too much detail and wordiness. I did skip through some due to the formentioned. 3.5stars.
When I first started reading I was hooked. I loved the idea and the different point of views from the 2 characters. I liked the development of the relationship although it did feel sooo quick! I was waiting for the bomb to hit all through the book and was pleasantly surprised how it was dealt with. At times abit repetitive and I thought the sheer amount of love between the 2 was a little much but over all I enjoyed the story!
Thank you so much to the author and the publisher, BooksGoSocial, for sharing with me an e-ARC of this book on NetGalley!!
“How do you know I wasn’t just thinking how beautiful you are and that I wish I would stop making an idiot of myself?”
“I never said curvy was bad. I happen to like all your curves”
I absolutely loved this book!! I’m obsessed !! This probably just became my favourite, sweet as cake, romantic, gentle love story I’ve ever read !!! Christine and Colin are just the perfect pair and that’s not an understatement!’n Believe me when I say I am not a fan of insta-love … I’d rather read a slow burn romance with a lot of time to think about the tension in between the characters. But this book made me almost change my mind !!! I believe that this love at first sight was the sweetest and considering the circumstances under which they met … they were truly blessed !!! I really liked the fact that there was some fake identity but there was no miscommunication and I love that !!! And I also loved that he is the one to fall first !!! But most of everything I loved the representation of people chronically ill and what they have to face in their everyday life !!! And thank you so much to the author for providing not only a Spotify list for this book … but also a list of movies connected to it !!!!! I’m so glad I had the chance to read this book and I truly hope the author has something more in store for us !!!
“He was an authentic man in a sea of shallow boys. And I was beginning to see that I was in big trouble”
“It doesn’t matter how long you’ve known a person … What matters is how your hearts feel together. How they fit together”
The Paris soulmates was a cute romance story of Christine and Colin on a week long trip to Paris. Christine has spend years of her youth sick with a diagnosed autoimmune disease and after her health becomes more stable she decides to follow through with her bucket list trip. While leaving for her trip, Christine meets Colin at the airport who also has his own reasons for why he’s going to Paris.
This books has several tropes, such as autoimmune representation, love at first sight, forced proximity, soulmates, Dual POV, and comedy.
“‘Colin, my lips are really cold.’” This was cheesy, but reflected Christines character development, where this story had good character development especially for such a small story where the writing stays true to each character. It also made me laugh.
The few supporting characters in this book make you laugh out loud. Doris is an MVP, and should be protected at all cost with her humour and common sense.
I rated this book 3/5, because although I enjoyed it, it did have some issues. One thing being Colin’s POV coming to soon, although learning about him gives tension to the book. It happened to soon, since it made me want to jump ahead to when the secret is revealed. Another thing being more my personal preference of love at first sight not being something I believe in, and some things felt a bit too fast paced with the romance.
Overall, if you are interested in these themes I highly recommend this book. The writing is good and the characters have their own growth that makes it worth it with all the tropes and themes.
I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is such an interesting story because it's a instant attraction/love trope for both of the main characters that spans out over a 7 days trip in the heart of Paris, France. The length in the trip and great detail added still lets the insta love feel be there, but gives it substance rather than just an infatuation feel.
I love dual POV books and was so glad this one had it. Both of our main characters needed to let us inside of their heads and I think that really benefited this book. The descriptions are thorough and gives the reader a real feel of Paris.
Christine was such an interesting character to read about. She is a lot of walls, fears, regrets and wishes for the future. It was fun to see one of her dreams come true throughout this book in getting herself to Paris. Add that with an intriguing MCC, mistaken identities, meddling old ladies and you've got quite the tale to tell!
I thought it was endearing to have the storyline that it did because it showed the hero of the story to be nothing short of amazing. It was intriguing to find a character arc for him later on in the book too. Just when you thought you had him all figured out, he ends up surprising you even more.
I enjoyed all of the movie suggestions and references. If you're a lover of the arts-in any medium that right there should be a bonus to reading this book!
I applaud the author for her representation of autoimmune diseases and major health challenges. She does a great job letting the reader in on those complications and what those situations can entail.
Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.
