Henri Cartier-Bresson was a French photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism, an early adopter of 35 mm format, and the master of candid photography. He helped develop the "street photography" or "real life reportage" style that has influenced generations of photographers that followed.
This was my first glimpse into the photography of Cartier Bresson, and it was a lovely first experience. The photos are so rich and so many tell such beautiful stories in a single frame. As far the book goes, I would like to have been given some background/history preceding each chapter, but the photographs themselves are strong enough to keep one engaged without the stories behind them. Definitely worth a look.
"Cartier-Bresson roamed the whole world years and years and came back with thousands of photos that don't give you the foggiest idea what he felt about any of it." -- Robert Frank
