This little book was originally intended for self-guided driving tours but today works just as well using Google Street View. It's quite a fun activity, and the book is filled with fascinating information about Monroe County history and the various architectural styles found here. They even tried to be kind to that godawful RIT campus.

Rochester Routes was also adapted for audio CD and cassette. I've seen these available at Lift Bridge Book Shop in Brockport.

The tours are:

Cultural Rochester: An East Avenue Outing
North to Lake: Downtown to Charlotte
West by the River: Mt. Hope to Mumford
Westward to Brockport: Following the Erie Canal
Pittsford and Mendon: The Early Towns

There is also a brief chapter at the end about modern architecture.
