MP3 CD Format Extinction New Zealand returns in the much-anticipated fourth novel of the bestselling series. Welcome to New golden beaches, forest-covered mountains, pristine water, and exotic bird life. A safe, friendly place to raise your family. Not anymore. All that was before the Hemorrhage Virus decimated the population. Before the survivors fled to the islands to escape the new and terrifying apex predators―the Variants. That was before Operation Utu launched to reclaim their land. Ten years have passed since they took back their country. Ten years of hope, rebuilding, and surviving. But while Jack, Dee, and The Renegades focused on creating a new, better civilization, evil was busy too. And evil doesn’t forget. While away on a mission, Jack learns Dee and their son Marco have been kidnapped by unknown foes. As he races to locate them, the home they sacrificed so much for comes under attack by one of their own. Now the clock is ticking to keep their sanctuary from collapsing forever.
Most nations have fallen but humanity survived. Many have rebuilt bouth new and old societies in this world but even the near extinction of mankind can not get rid of the evil in peoples hearts.
The story returns us to New Zealand where people have become tribal to survive but forces both abound and internal seeks they’s lands for there own thinking the varients are tools for there plans. This leads us to once more see people vs people fighting for ideals and philosophy’s that can only end in the blood of another.
….
The book just did it have that effect of survival horror the first 3 books did, this was a slow burn novel that played with things I just didn’t think would get interesting( an I was right.. boring).
I hope if you release a book 5 it gets better because book 4 only leaves a sappy taste that just ruins my love for the series.
Alexandra Soren has an idea to beat the Hemorrhage Virus!
A hybrid potion to give them the best parts of the Virus - the speed, endurance, and quick healing - and still keep the intelligence and knowledge on the human side. She would lead an army of hybrids and variants to take back New Zealand! No more being packed onto the islands. While safe from variants, these Islands weren't their homes! Captain Jack Gee leads the Renegades, a unit tasked with returning life to as near normal as possible. Their latest task is investigating the disappearance of several teenage girls in the Mahia Colony. Jack, with friends Yalonda and Boss, find more than they bargained for and the investigation becomes a running battle against Separatists, Variants and hybrids to capture and destroy the formula that Soren needs to turn everyone into Hybrids!
It was tremendous to see Jack and Dee back in action! Boss, Hōne, Yalonda were back where they belonged - with the Renegades, straightening things out, fighting Variants and living, not just surviving. This requires killing many Variants and Hybrids, getting shot and chopped up, chasing and running after countless enemies. Jack and Diana Gee are tremendous leads for this storyline, brave but not fearless, dedicated to their goals, no holds barred fighting, but crazy love for family and friends. Their friends, Boss and Yalonda, fill out their fireteam, specializing in close quarter combat and crazy good sniper skills. The storyline brings the characters together before tearing them apart and forcing them to split goals. Intense action and wild fighting against monstrous odds and terrifying creatures! A storyline that twists and bends near to breaking! Characters to love and hate! Action fills the pages! This is a great read!
A satisfying end to a gripping series; time has moved on, the Variants still roam New Zealand but gradually the survivors are beginning to re-establish a semblance of normality. Standing in their way now is a right wing nationalist movement of politicians who are seeking to reshape the country and using science to fight fire with fire. The Renegades are reunited under Jack’s command to fight both official and unofficial missions. The writing is, as ever, a touch simplistic and the plot extremely idealistic, but a shout out to the author for his education on the culture, flora and fauna of New Zealand woven into the story.
Overall this book is as well written and exciting as books 1-3. Great characters and realistic action with losses, both physical and emotional, happening to the protagonists. I gave it 4 stars, as I felt that, there having been a ten year gap between 3 and 4, the first couple of chapters should have provided background of what had happened during that period. Sounds like there could be a book 5.
Ten years have passed in relative peace. New Zealand seems to have weathered the Hemorrhage Virus. Peace looks like an option once again. However, a shadowy rogue agent and a group of Collaborators have other ideas….now a Jack, Dee and Boss make take action once more. Extinction NZ is back.
The biggest problem with this series is that the choreography in battle gets really messed up. Characters will teleport from one place to another in defiance of the action to benefit the story. It makes it tough to read because you're constantly having to stop and go back to figure out how a character got from one spot to the next.
Once again Mr Smith has written a gripping yarn. The story line continues with wonderful description’s of beautiful New Zealand as they fight the Keeper, the hybrids and the Variants. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of the story.
