Bri Blackwood’s Broken Cross series continues with “bad boy” Gage,and i was lucky enough to get the ARC.
Getting the chance to return to the Cross family,to find out if there’s any answers to where the threat is coming from.
To give an honest review in return for those answers,and more….is easy!
Melissa has a secret in her past,and she’s hoping it’ll stay there.
But she has “insurance” just in case it won’t.
The offer she got 4 years ago to work for Cross Industries,was a gift she took with both hands.
It gave her a chance to create distance between her and her past,plus it was a great deal.
Not only did it give her the kind of job she wanted,it meant she could live in New York.
Until she was offered not only a promotion,but the request to add working for Gage to her work for Damien until she got the promotion…..
Gage turned out to be a ….challenge to work for.
Not because of the work,but the man was a temptation she couldn’t afford.
Gage couldn’t get the masked one-night stand he had out of his head.
Trying to contact her ended up in a refusal to meet,and it was becoming frustrating.
Until he added his new assistant Melissa’s details into his phone….
How to convince her to have more than a workrelation,that was the question.
She was keeping secrets,were they keeping her from a future with him?
And to add to that,his search to the one responsible for the threats against his family wasn’t going as well as he wanted.
The plot thickens,and at the same time love blooms.
But as with any good relationship,honesty is key,and these two needed to share….
Does Melissa trust him with the secrets from her past?
Can she accept the truths Gage and his father reveal?
And more importantly, can he keep her safe when Melissa’s past returns?
This was a page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat,wanting to know the how,why,who and what.
That made me want to see these two lovers find their hea.
And that made me need to be sure the threats were gone……

I like the Broken Cross series very much. This book was about the youngest brother Gage and Melissa. It is a great story with danger, suspense, action, Passion and conflicts. I‘m so exited to start the last book of the series which is about Kingston.

Another fantastic installment of the Cross family legends. Gage and Melissa were fantastic. I love how the villains from each of the previous stories reappear making you try to connect the dots together as to who the mastermind behind the attacks on the Cross men's loved ones truly is. The first meeting of Gage and Melissa was very unexpected, but its still hard to believe she never figured it out all those months later! Great read!

Wow, Things Are Getting More Intense
This might be the best book in the series so far. This is Gage's story and he is the twin of Broderick. In this book we see his serious side as he's always been a joker and no one took his took seriously. Gage and Kingston have been secretly investigating all the strange and dangerous things that have happened in the previous books. This book gets to the heart of the matter and eliminates the major problem. You can read this book as a standalone but I strongly recommend reading the previous books as it will introduce you to connecting characters and family members. This book was intense and involved murder, blackmail and secrets. The chemistry between Gage and Melissa was explosive. This is a page turner that you will enjoy. I read an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

Gage came in swinging as an alpha male, Sweetheart and Melissa was definitely here for it....to a degree.
A chance encounter that later on proceeds to leave both Gage and Melissa reeling is the catalyst for the continuation of the Cross Saga.
The steam in this book was the perfect amount and Melissa is a strong FMC that doesn't let Gage steamroll over her, which I absolutely love!!!
I am looking forward to the next book in this series because mark my words they just keep getting better and better.

I have received bk 5 from Bri for an honest review as one of her Arc readers.
Congrats Bri on capturing our attention and sharing the Cross Family drama. Do read the synopsis as this will give you a guide on the contents. What I do recommend is you reading the Cross series in order. So do start with book 1 Savage Empire. You can read the prequel, but this will only be reiterated in Savage Empire. I’d leave the decision to you. In my review, I’ll be presenting thoughts/questions as I don’t spoil contents.
Here goes - What is Melissa running from?
What is she hiding? What has Melissa got that has her in danger?
Will working at Cross Industries be her salvation?
What has Gage got himself involved in?
When does Gage seriously step in to help and will he follow in his siblings footsteps of falling in love hard but not wanting to accept his situation.
What is Melissa’s insurance token??
Who is after her? Who is the mystery caller?
Who is Kiki exactly? What role does she present? Who or what may/will be her downfall? As it appears she knows the Cross family well.
Besides Melissa, what secret is Gage keeping? Not only from her but his family. He may have shared some with his siblings, but is there more? Is Gage the larakin of the Cross siblings? Does anyone take him seriously? What has he got himself involved with, with their cousin Kingston? What side partnership do they have? Still so many questions are present in the series.
We were presented with a past read before eventually coming to the present. The storyline will have you asking questions of what happened before, so again read previous books so you too will be presented with ‘oh yeah….’ & ‘that’s right….’ Cross family in general does have skeletons that have presented themselves from book 1. Each book until present has you engrossed in trying to solve their secrets. Not only the Cross members, but their significant others, oh - extended Cross relatives.
And the twist to the mystery is almost revealed. How will the Cross family be able to accept who has been targeting them for years. How will Kingston be able to comprehend all his loses? Were we left on a cliffhanger - YES. Can we wait for the next instalment - NO, but unfortunately there is no choice. Gage and Melissa needed to cross certain hurdles to get them to their end game. There still appears that questions are still unanswered regarding these two. Will they be answered in next instalment?
Overall, Gage and Melissa are an entertaining duo. Their tongues aren’t as refined as the other characters. Each bounced of the other. Till today, Gage appeared the layback sibling but he has become confident, cocky and always trusting. Melissa, is slowly getting her life back but also lost a lot. Living in fear changes a person. It’s a shame how the twins stories are only 1 book long. I’d like for them to have a continued story, like Damien and Anais. The Empire series is tantalising and succulent where you want more. Awaiting next instalment - Stolen Empire.

Gage is working his side jobs just like his brothers, but he’s keeping his close to the vest. He’s fed up with his father and brothers not taking him serious in the Cross Empire. His side job is dangerous and very important to him, he wants to be sure that everyone he loves is safe and protected from the threat that the Cross family is under, but he has to figure where the threat is coming from to neutralize it. His investigations will take him to places he is not expecting.
Aside from his investigative work, Gage has to be sure to be on top of his job at Cross Enterprises too. When he finds that he has to do a lot of work on his own to get things accomplished, he is overridden by his father and given a new assistant. His new assistant is shared with Damien though and he is not expecting great work, but he is pleasantly surprised by her.
I love these books and Secrete Empire was just as suspenseful, action packed, and great as the others before it. I love the characters and the plot of these stories. Stolen Empire looks to be another great addition to the series. Gage and Melissa are a great pair and great partners. I would love to read more about them in the next book. I didn’t quite feel as though their story was finished, I’m not sure why. Maybe because I loved them so much. I look forward to reading more of the series in the near future and I give this book a 5-star review.

Gage finally takes centre stage
The last of the three Cross brothers to get his story, Gage struck me as the joker of the pack in the previous books but he was also the most mysterious as we saw very little of him except his back as he was always leaving the room hastily. This book shows that there is much more going on with him as he is keeping a lot of balls in the air whilst keeping everything secret from his family.
Melissa, Damien's assistant who we've already met, now also takes over the same role for Gage, who changes assistants as often as he changes his shoes. She is competent and not afraid of him, but is also completely attracted to him and keeping secrets of her own.
As Gage's investigations with Kingston into who was behind all the events in the previous four books, their secrets collide towards the end of the book and Gage has to keep Melissa safe.
Bri has woven another story that kept me turning the pages until Gage and Melissa got their own personal HEA but the bigger picture is getting larger and larger with each book, and the ending and epilogue was a complete revelation that no one could see coming. Now we have two and a half months to wait for Kingston's book and I'm miffed!

I love this series. I have been intrigued by Gage because of his cagey behavior in previous books. I didn't think he was up to something really nefarious but he was definitely up to something. I really enjoyed learning more about Melissa. We met her in the first book of the series and have seen her thorough because of her position at Cross Enterprises as Damion's assistant. We knew she was professional, competent, and extremely thorough. There wasn't anything that indicated she had some secrets that could potentially come back to haunt her. I loved seeing Gage in his element, he came off as a goofball more often than not in previous books. Gage and Melissa make a great match. I am so very excited to read Kingston and Ellie's story and find out more about who is trying to take down the Cross family and why, this has been quite the build-up!

This series just keeps getting better!
Melissa is just wanting to get a fresh start after college and never have to return to her home town. When she lands a job at Cross Industries she gets her fresh start. Her friend Nia believes she needs a night out and to get so much needed action, so she takes her to a party where everything is kept anonymous with masks and no names. Of course nothing stays a secret forever and when she finds out who she was with that night things are going to get a little heated. This is a great read and I am looking forward to the next book in the Broken Cross series.

I just love this Broken Cross world. This book features Gage and Melissa.
Melissa becomes Gages assistant at the family business. He’s never really taken seriously, being the joker and the baby of all the brothers. This is the perfect little office romance filled with suspense like all the other Cross brothers stories. You get great action and steam all in this small package. Bri Blackwoods series has become so enjoyable and they are always relatively quick reads, that you don’t wish are over quite yet.

FAMILY that one word that means so much. Gage really surprised the F out of me. That man has layers upon layers and what you see on the outside is just the surface of Gage because that man is so much more and we really get to see him in all his glory, never one to want to settle down or even have any kind of serious relationship is knocked to his knees from the very first interaction with Melissa. Gawd the chemistry between these two is hot heavy and explosive! I was kept on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and I loved every single minute of it. Can’t wait for the next book!!! I thought Gage and Melissa were my favorite couple but I have a feel our next man just might steal the show.

Tension headache on steroids!...
OMG this was crazy good. Loved the heroine, the hero not so much until he got his crazy at the office under control, courtesy of the heroine who could have run the entire business with one hand tied behind her back. Such a complex, detailed & intriguing story, deception, life threatening, a real & present danger, never quite sure which way was up. The controlling hero who would kill & die for his woman was SO sexy & she loved him unconditionally even though he couldn't function properly without her. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

This is book #5 in the Broken Cross series and the one I’ve been waiting for! Although each book can be read as a stand-alone, you might want to read the previous books first. Gage has made appearances in the other books and had me intrigued. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding him. He and Melissa made a lasting impression on each other from the moment they met. Their chemistry was scorching hot. This is a dark and sexy series and highly recommended. *this honest review is based on a complimentary copy from the author*

Secret Empire is the fifth book in the Broken Cross Series which features Gage, the youngest and intriguing brother of the Cross empire, and Melissa, the administrative assistant for Damien Cross who is also working for Gage. Steamy attraction is instantaneous between these characters when they first meet. While Gage is busy investigating who is behind the events of the previous books in the series, he finds himself also having to protect Melissa. This is another well written book by Bri Blackwood. It has amazing characters, secrets, mystery, steamy chemistry, and a cliffhanger. The next book in this excellent series is Stolen Empire.

"Secret Empire" was SO FREAKING GOOD! Melissa and Gage were super cute together, and the tension between them was CRAZY HIGH, which made it so much better. 😍 On top of that, this story definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat to the point where you just HAVE to know what happens next (I started it last night and finished it this morning 🙈). So far, every book in this series has been a 5 star read for me, so I'm super excited to see what happens in "Stolen Empire!" ❤️

Gage and Melissa had a one night stand which Gage doesn’t want revealed. Melissa has received own Demond’s she is hiding from. I enjoyed both the characters and the storyline and am looking forward to reading more.

I loved reading Gage's story. He's met his match with Melissa. Their attraction is explosive. Danger. Secrets. Steam. And so much excitement. I highly recommend this whole series. 5 stars plus!

September 25, 2021I was looking forward to Book 5 in the Broken Cross series as I knew it was going to be following Gage and have an office romance trope to it. After seeing Gage in the previous books, particularly Broderick's, it was obvious that he was hiding something and I was looking foward to finding out what exactly that was.
Unfortunately, for me, this didn't quite live up to my expectations, with one of the main reasons being that I didn't really love Melissa. Personally, I found her a bit too stubborn/unnecessarily argumentative at times when it felt like the situation didn't need as much of a reaction as what she gave. And I would have preferred for this to have been a bit of a longer book too as I think both Melissa's background and Gage's current storyline could have been given more depth, as this was quite a quick paced story.
I did like seeing the hints at Kingston and Ellie's future relationship though. I've liked Kingston right from the beginning so I'm looking forward to learning more about his more mysterious character and I think Ellie is definitely going to give him a run for his money. Will be interesting to see how the underlying plot that has been running through all these books finally comes to a conclusion as well.

*Secret Empire is book 5 in the Broken Cross series. Although the couple has a HEA, the underlying plot has been running through the previous books and will continue into the next. Therefore I would highly recommend reading this series in order.

You are absolutely killing me with each book. Part of me hates you for keeping me anxious and very impatient for the next part. And part of me loves you for being able to do that to me.
Every book in this series is better than the previous one.
This one is about Gage the youngest brother of the cross family and part of the twins.
He's cocky, but funny and an absolute nightmare to work for.
He drives all his assistants away within weeks. After he fired his last assistent his dad de idee he assigned Damien's assistant to him . He's not to happy about it,at least until he finds something out about het.
They have an amazing chemistry and loved reading about them. Especially with Melissa being feisty and sassy.
The book contains lots of twists and turns(damn that scene at kiki's house 🔥🔥🔥) steamy scenes, action, drama, suspense and with each book you learn more about the boys and the threat that follows them and everyone around them they love.
I could go on and pn about parts I loved in that book and that made me grasp is shock, horror or just plain wishing I would have an alpha boss like that, but that would be spoiling the entire story.
The story between Melissa and gage itself could read as a standalone, bit there's so much more happening in the book so I strongly advise to read all the books in the right order to understand the full story l.
Can't wait to learn more about Kingston and the bombshell about him you dropped at the end of this book.

He wanted to make his own way without his family's help. Trying to figure out who wanted to destroy his family, he created a security firm without them knowing.
Melissa became his PA even though she was not looking forward to the challenge. She was not happy with herself because she allowed Gage to push those feelings out. With Gage, things had to be his way. By keeping a secret from her caused her not trust him.
As you read this story, there are nany aspects from drama and suspense. I do recommed you read all the books prior to this one. It will help you understand the true dynamics of this family.

This is my favourite book in this series so fun but i reall really have a lot hope in our King❤️ but yeah this book is the best one so far. Gage is the best in this series so far and is the only who didnt force a girl to move in with him so that he could fuck her so that was really nice of him. Anyway this book is about a girl and a guy and they hook up but they dont kniw who they are and she starts working as his assistant and he soon finds out it was her but she doesnt know also she has sone secret about her past and then they start to sleep together bc they want to and he helps her with her problem and at the end he tells her and she is mad and then he saves her life and she forgives him.

I thought this was a very good read and was able to read it from the very beginning to the very end. I thought the character built up was very well done and made the story much more believeable and this is my opinion. I thought the story line was done so well and believable to me in my opinon. Getting closer to the truth!

Gage and Melissa of course fought their feelings for each other in the beginning but eventually gave in and boy was their chemistry off the charts! Both of their pasts clashed together but in the end they came together and came out on top!
Onto the next one! I can’t put this series down! You won’t regret it!

Seems as though many have secrets.
As the story of Gage and Melissa is entwined with so.many secrets that there is an edge that appears that could change all the good that has happened. The truth always wins out bit will those involed get it out before it is too late? Really enjoying this quick read.
