An assignment turns deadly when FBI agent Goldie Simmons is forced to kill to protect her witness…and has a hit placed on her in retaliation. Now instead of working the case, she’s under the protection of fellow agent Zeke Miller, her long-lost childhood sweetheart. And learning to trust him again is her only hope of staying alive.
An enjoyable suspense thriller with a bit of romance. The interesting cast of characters kept me guessing about the mystery type plotline. It all wrapped up with a happily ever after for the main characters. I'm finding large print in mass market paperbacks makes them a breeze to read.
Only read first chapter and can't stand Goldie. She is FBI and the first page she invites killer into the house and leaves them alone while she tackles a suspected intruder into the pool. She finds out the intruder is FBI also and her old flame from 21 years ago. In the midst of taking down the killer, she unloads all her crap from 21 years ago and manages to tell him that she can't work with him if he doesn't own up to some of the responsibility for their breakup. Now the breakup, they were young, her father moved them in the dead of night, she wrote letters, which his parents probably destroyed since her father was fleeing embezzlement charges and then his parents moved them. She's a grown woman and really, 21 years has passed and she tells him he needs to grow up because he still believes in God. Who needs to grow up here. Ugh can't read any more.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 This was a different type of read for me. It was a Christian suspense which was interesting. I am Christian and I liked the religious aspects to the book but someone whose not might not enjoy it. I also liked that the suspense was easier on my heart than a stressful one.
The story line was good and the bad guys unexpected, but there was a lot of religion talk in the book and I'm not religious. That was the only down fall for me.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Hunted by the Mob. I really enjoy Elisabeth's work. This is no exception. The story is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.
FBI Agent Goldie Simmons arrives at the home of the witness she is to protect. There is a female officer standing outside by the door. Goldie asks her to come in for some water. The officer told her that her partner had already arrived so she went to look for him as the officer got a drink. The man she found wasn't her partner; she attacks him and they both fall into the pool. The man she attacked was a man from her past. A man she once loved and hoped to marry but he had left and never looked back. How could she trust this man as her new partner? The officer turned out to be her witnesses sister-in-law and attacks her pregnant witness. Goldie has no choice but to shoot her.
FBI Zeke Miller couldn't believe that his childhood sweetheart hadn't change at all. She looked just the same but there was definitely a change on the inside. He wasn't sure what her problem was, she had been the one to cut off there relationship but she is cold and tough. Now there is a hit out on her life for killing the wife of a mobster. He must protect her.
A journey of frustration as each blames the other for their breakup and neither trusts the other one but God has a plan for these two a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and you'll have nothing to fear in this present turmoil.
