The plot was actually really good but omg the spelling/grammatical errors were bad. I would have kept reading but I don’t have the patience to read a sentence more than once to understand what it’s trying to say.
I'll be honest and say I really tried with this one, but the grammar and spelling mistakes stopped me at nearly every turn. The plot started off really strong, but it just didn't do it for me. The characters weren't that interesting and frankly both of them were just terrible people to each other and to everyone around them. Neither of them were redeemable to me in the slightest.
Definitely a book Tik Tok missed the mark on as a recommendation.
Wasn't bad. The plot was nice, the pacing was good but God the errors. There must have been no proof reading. Excited for the next set. That cliffhanger is BRUTAL.
Like all the other reviews the grammatical errors and spelling took me out of it. The plot was okay, it had a lot of potential but just didn’t meet any expectations.
simplistic, with no world building despite a really promising premise.
Probably just not a style of writing for me - I like details, world building, good pacing etc.
***spoilers***
I don’t enjoy:
Being a 21 year old assassin, the bestfriend being a super amazing journalist, belonging to an organisation that takes in orphans and trains them up to combat the growing drug trade problem, the bestfriends husband betray her, some very glossed over details about how the organisation they work for has been framed for drugs, but the real culprit is someone else, shooting the bestfriends husband, bestfriend dying during child birth, running away, taking over raising the children, best friends husband turning up to kill her, finding out it was all a lie and the woman didn’t die from child birth but from drugs being given to her by her prenatal doctor that caused complications and now the husband and the FMC are suddenly fine and should take out this guy - and this is where I DNF’ed.
Because ALL of this happened within the first couple of chapters. It’s too much, with no ground work or plot building. I just couldn’t get behind it. The story isn’t so much the problem it’s the lack of building this, giving details etc.
I gave it my all, I really did. 68% and I just can’t do it anymore. This is a bunch of everything thrown together into one book that is over 600 pages I think. And then a second book?! Jeez man. Too much of absolutely nothing. Nothing and everything. Honestly I think the author wanted every trope known to book lovers thrown it into this. If this had been half the size and more than half the nonsense that’s in it was gone, it might have been doable. But 600 pages of whatever this was? I can’t. Sooooo much happened and I couldn’t keep my thoughts straight, it was like a kite flowing in a hurricane. All over the place, this way, that way, over there, back over here. Good lord. And the main characters? I haven’t hated both main characters in a single book, ever. But these two? Throw them both away. Just toss them. They aren’t worth the garbage bag it would take to toss them in. I don’t think I have ever been as hard in a review ever, but I can’t even get my thoughts together for this one.
Honestly I DNF’d at like 5%. The writing was stiff, and already there were things that didn’t make sense to me.
To become a detective, and be able to go under cover, it takes a great many years… which means a 21 year old isn’t exactly realistic for that.
Naming the baby girl “Lady” just reminded me of a dog… She should have named the baby boy “Tramp”..
I also don’t see how almost killing his pregnant wife (intentionally, he choked her against a car when she tried to leave him) can be redeemable. Or killing whole families, children included, can be redeemable- in dark romances there is always something that makes the dark, main character seem a little better, like not killing children, and it just wasn’t there for me. The fact that she knew him while he was married, saw what he did to the other woman (who was her friend), just makes this silly to me.
As a former Reylo do yourself a favor and read this…
I’m not saying the author is a reylo og lol, but this book and couple took me back to that enemies to lovers that weren’t afraid to hurt each other universe and don’t get offended by it cuz it’s training, it’s a language to them, the way there’s a bond so strong that cannot contain their feelings, they’re great at fighting a common enemy but above else hit you right in the feels cuz they are made for each other. Now this story is one that I wasn’t able to put down, it’s sexy, dark and well paced. With a huge cliffhanger but hey I’m about to read the next one right now. Excited to read more about this author.
Viper found out his deceased wife, had his twin is alive. Then he found out his boss is the real reason his wife died. Then he let loose his true feelings for the one take care of his children. They call her mommy. You have to read this action, sizzling, twist and turn romance.
This book was super long , but there’s a real story and it was good to follow ! I never knew what was coming next and that last page , that dang cliff hanger has me freaking out at work
I hate to DNF so it took me a year to read this… no thanks. Plot all over the place, so was the errors and the grammar. Could’ve been something but 600+ pages AND you need a sequel? Nope.
