If you liked Heartstopper or They Both Die at the End, then you’ll love Redwood Summer, the second instalment of the Redwood Academy Series.
This summer just got REAL. Peter is spending it with his big-time crush, Dalton Prescott, at his family’s beach house on the Cape.
But to rich families like the Prescotts, Peter is an outsider. The Prescotts don’t let people in. They don’t let people out. And they never show their feelings.
Dalton hates it all. He wants something different. He wants to be more than just friends with Peter.
At least, he says he does.
Is Dalton using Peter just to rebel against his privileged life and controlling parents?
Or are his growing feelings for Peter actually real?
And if they are real, how far would other people go to keep them apart?

Quality issues and just felt like the release was rushed. The characters getting together was drawn out and then once they actually got together, the first kiss wasn’t shown and they just jumped/rushed into everything. So much felt unrealistic, naive, cartoonish antagonists, overly simple/predictable, etc. So disappointing after such a promising start.
The sequel sets the stage for a wonderful summer in the riches for a poor boy who is trying to date the son of a would be Governor. It of course grows in complexity and turns on several sides, and I can’t wait until the next book to find out how Peter gets even.
I loved the growing relationship and the struggle Dalton is doing with his family expectations versus his love for Peter.
Again, Weaver and Mr. Prescott are missing mustaches to twirl. At least Mrs. Prescott offered some depth.
The end was maybe a little weird and unbelievable with the dad setting Peter up, but it certainly was intense.
Now bring the third one. But I will be happy to wait an additional month if you can get it proof read to fix obvious errors.
The second book offered much more of Peter and Dalton together, which was nice. It’s a decent, cute story and ended on a cliffhanger so I’ll have to read book three to see how it ends.. fingers crossed for a happy ending 🤞🏻👨❤️💋👨
The story heats up now with Dalton and Peter. Some shady stuff happens and the story is flushed out better. Nice cliffhanger to get you to book 3. 3.5 for secret rendezvous.
Can’t believe I nearly didn’t read these 3 books. Amazing had me laughing and crying. Lesson for me about taking some reviews with a pinch of salt - we all have different tastes but this trilogy isn’t long and def worth a go
Great sequel! I had an idea that there was more to Dalton Prescott than one would imagine! I love how author Anna Bouvier keeps me turning the pages to want to learn more about these two main characters of Dalton and Peter! Wonderful and captivating story!
