A little seahorse tells everyone swimming in the sea six reasons why he thinks mermaids are "overrated", so "nobody likes mermaids" - only to close with a surprising statement.
Kilpatrick's the little seahorse has just enough snarkiness as he counts the number of ways that seahorses are "way better" that when redeems himself at the end, readers will laugh along with the surprise twist.
Cartoonish illustrations by Germán Blanco were rendered with Photoshop and Illustrator using a Wacom Cintiq. While they are very flat-looking, the color and movement makes it pop.
This could be used as an easy reader or to teach ordinal numbers, comparisons, and humor.
This is another cute book in the series, with some similarities to the others, but with enough differences and newness to add to your collection. This time, an adorable seahorse I takes us through the reasons not to like mermaids and why seahorses are better, with fun facts about seahorses sprinkled throughout and at the end. My 3.5 yo daughter loves the books in this series (also Unicorns and Easter Bunny)
I read it by myself first , then read it to my 21 month old and we loved it! From the story to the pictures its a wonderful story. I recommend this to any toddler and family in general!
I absolutely love the “Nobody Likes” series by Karen Kilpatrick they are always a good read and make the kiddos laugh! The graphics and “reasons” are to cute. We enjoyed seeing all the different reasons and coming to the agreement we too LOVE mermaids. Or doesn’t?
When I read the title of the book to my preschool class they all chimes in that they loved mermaids. I told them to hold on and let’s find out who doesn’t like them. The children loved the colors and illustrations. I loved the fun facts as did the children. We were all happy to find out that everyone actually loves mermaids. I definitely recommend this book and so do my 3-5 year olds. After I read the book they were reading it again on my kindle app. This is a book I need in our class library!
