Mugsy is a 2-year old Pug. He's kind. He's loving. He's also scared of everything! Now his owner, Tessa, has enrolled him in obedience school. If Mugsy can conquer the obstacle course and avoid getting eaten by a Pit Bull, he just might be the leader of the pack.
I actually liked the first half of the book as we meet a timid and anxious Pug who is taken to an obedience training class to help him get over his reluctance to face the scary world. He is immediately terrified of a pit bull he meets there but slowly learns to see past stereotypes to find that appearance doesn't dictate who might be a friend and who might be a bully.
Unfortunately, the hijinks around a final obstacle course competition are just too cheesy and groan inducing for me to tolerate.
