Enjoyable but never sold completely on two MCs, especially Ellis. It didn't have that 'je ne sais pas.' But good.

Sometimes I'm shocked at finding people having less self respect than me.
I really thought reading books was a change in the reality of making everything better and raising standards.
So tell me why this made me want to bang my head in the wall so many times???
Oh,I know why!
Because the whole book Melissa was being immature, selfish and fucking things up.Litterly her response to everything was avoiding Ellie, she did not fight for her ,I mean it.
My girl Ellie needs her head banged in the wall too, because why the fuck was she going around Melissa the whole book like a lost puppy ,even a blind person could see she deserved better.
The communication wasn't enough for them when only one of them was ready to get trough all and put everything in the relationship
My best wishes for their break up🤍

“Ellis had had enough. Melissa had been avoiding her again for the last seven days. She could understand Melissa’s need for space, but it wasn’t fair on Ellis. She needed to know where she stood. It was clear Melissa had an interest in her. How deep that went, Ellis didn’t know. It was time to find out. She was done being pushed around by everyone.”
Heroine: 41 year old Ellis Davis
Heroine: Early to mid 30 something year old Melissa Cole
Ellis’ backstory damn near broke my heart. Hit after hit after hit. She deserved her happily every after and I can’t say that I was super pleased with how everything unfolded with Melissa. She was so patient. Even when maybe she shouldn’t have been.
Cliffhanger – no (stand alone)

I loved the growth of both Ellis and Melissa. Ellis a self imposed isolation and Melissa a divorced woman with a son. The author kept true to the characters thruogh the book. Even Melissa's mother's character didnot change to get the HEA. I loved that Ellis growth was slow and real.
Melissa's struggle was refreshingly written.
Loved the style of writing as well.

great story
Great characters and a beautiful romance with lots of challenges. I think what I appreciate most is that the person is the focus for one of the MC’s not gender or label. Really well written, but then it’s Samantha Hicks

Beautiful love story
This story shows that if you're willing to open yourself up to the possibility of love, there's still a chance you'll find it.
Samantha's writing is insightful and shows empathy for her characters. I will be looking for more of her work.

loved this book
One very lost woman meets a newly divorced straight woman with a 10 year old son. What could go wrong?

I love novels with characters who grow because of love. Extra when the character is queer <3
