Actually truly LOVED this collection, inventive and never trite, imaginative and ticklish and humorous and silly at some points and absolutely tender and beautiful and heartbreaking at others.
This is a collection that doesn’t take itself that seriously, has room to stretch it wings, displays absolute mastery of language, and still manages to be taken seriously, this poetry collection really is an exemplar of what poetry should be.

This conceit was one of those ideas that didn't always translate to execution. And Strand wasn't as funny as somebody told him he was.

A short series of poems where the title repeats in each line, building associations,
ie: "Throat"
"The throat is the history of what has been said
The throat shows only one movie: "The Tongue"
The throats of angels are lined with gold"
It's witty, charming, and playful. It's also a very pretty book, with atlas-like illustrations, which fits well in your hands.

This is the most ridiculous poetry ever & I mean that in the best way. Very, very original and good for the child in you. HOW could it be that Mark Strand wrote this? I find his stuff quite buttoned-up and this is anything but.
