Beth wishes she were more like Molly, who doesn't mind if boys hide dead bugs in her desk, and who tells big kids to get lost if they tease her. Beth is flattered when Molly invites her to stay overnight at her house in the country; when the girls get lost, Beth is the one who gets them home.

Since the publication of Fancy Nancy, Jane O'Connor's closet now boasts so many boas, tiaras, and sparkly ensembles that sometimes friends do not recognize her on the street. did not like how author used the word "jerk" and repeatedly used "guts" instead of "courage" or another alternative

7/9/2019 ~ A friendship between two girls, one White & one Black (and the book was written in the 1990s!). I appreciated that Beth grew through the story as she realized she had courage too, something she'd been looking up to Molly for. It's always good to come to understand that our heroes might struggle with something too.

This is a really well written book about a little girl looking up to a classmate thinking that she is never scared of anything and what she thinks about her if she seems scared? And then getting to leave her house for an overnight stay with the other girl! So the main little girl learns that Molly isn't so brave at times either and it's okay to be 'strong and brave' when you need to be but scared and a little lonely when you need to be too! Just a really nice book about friendships!

I just read this to my First grade intern class, and it was such a great follow-up story to the previous day's lesson on admiring someone. The story is about the characteristics we admire in friends, such as bravery, and how true friends rely on one another and can find that they themselves possess those favorable traits.

Possibly my favorite book of all time. Given to me by my husband back when we were young and in love. (That was a joke.)

Molly the Brave and Me could be used as a tool to teach that some people act a certain way but can still have the same thinking as you. Many people can put on a front and be totally different.
