Texas Game Wardens don’t just protect the natural resources of the Lone Star State, they protect the people as well. Trace Carson considers every warden as more than just fellow officers, they’re family.Especially, Miranda Jimenez. She’d gone through the academy when he was on staff, and he was her first in-field training officer. There was no denying that she was a beautiful woman, he’d worked side by side with her and knew that her dedication to upholding the laws of Texas was second only to caring for wild animals and natural resources. When she decided to leave her job as a game warden to open a wild animal rehabilitation it made perfect sense, but he couldn’t explain the sudden ache he felt at the thought of her leaving. It wasn’t going to be out of sight, out of mind, because he went to her ‘retirement’ party and he kissed her, changing everything. When her connection with Trace puts Miranda’s life in danger, the law enforcement community in San Antonio pulls together to get her back where she belongs… in Trace’s arms. Will they find her in time to save her and get Justice for Miranda?
Justice for Miranda, the next book in Reina Torres's San Antonio First Responders series is a good romantic suspense novel. The plot, involving poachers getting back at ex-Game Warden and current wildlife rescuer Miranda Jimenez, is full of interesting twists and turns. However, the relationship between friends-turned-lovers Miranda and Trace is awkward sometimes, and I don't think it was written that way on purpose. While this book is good, it's not as good as the first in the series, and it had the potential to be a lot better.
Friends to lovers... Miranda loved her job as a Texas Game Warden but wants to open up a rehab center for animals. To do more. When Trace Carson comes to her graduation party things heat up between them..with a sizzling kiss he walks away, but a promise to talk later. Well months go buy and he’s not sure. He is sure that he can’t stop thinking about her.
Miranda can’t understand what’s going on with Trace. But there thrown into a lot of situations with animals he finds, or is called to rescue.
But one call turns bad. Soon finds Miranda fighting for her life, and Trace doing whatever he needs to do.
Ms. Torres just seems to get better and better. Justice for Miranda is a short, sexy read that deals with strong men and strong women. They have jobs that are hard and backbones to match. When they love they give it their all. In Justice for Miranda, Ms. Torres gives it all to the reader. The story involves family, alphas, important jobs, bad guys, good guys, sexual tension, love and an HEA all in the form of a rollercoaster ride! I couldn't put the book down! I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
This book was just missing that something extra to set it apart. The unique spin was the hero is a Texas Game Warden, which is a career not often seen in books.
Reina Torres has brought to life the lives of Game Wardens and what they go through with sweet romance added to the mix. Trace is in love with Miranda and trying to let her follow her dreams. Miranda wanted to be a Game Warden but her passion to help animals was greater. I really enjoyed Trace an Miranda's and an emotional rollercoaster of ups and downs. It had everything you'd want in a good read. I couldn't believe how strong Miranda was during everything! Great ending to go along with the conclusion!!
What a great book! Miranda has retired from the Texas Game Wardens and is opening her own animal rehab place. Trace also works as a Game Warden. He’s a bit older than her and has issues with it. But the chemistry between these two is out of this world hot. There’s so much happening that you won’t be able to put this book down until you are finished with it. There are all kinds of exciting and dangerous activities going on. Also, a lot of different departmental support that makes you understand how a family that isn’t blood can still be your family. I hope we can read more about the Game Wardens and this family. They are fantastic!
Trace and Miranda know each other thru work and merciful teasing happens and then she goes and opens up a rehab center. Trace brings her a turtle then calls her for a deer. Miranda rehabilitates the both of them along with bad guys on her doorstep. Trace is her man and hero.
A little bit of funny, a little bit of action (scary action, actually), a whole lotta HEA. Just my kind of entertainment. It was what is currently happening all over but especially in Texas. Most people don't consider Park Rangers as law enforcement but they are well-trained officers. And, I don't think enough can be said about killing wild animals just because you feel like it! They are part of our natural resources and should be treated with kindness and respect. Thank you, Reina, for bringing this to the forefront of this story. These characters were strong and capable and held mutual respect for themselves and their jobs. Another good job, Reina!
This book was gifted to me by the author in return for an honest review.
I liked the storyline centered around the Texas Game Wardens and a wild animal rehabilitation center. Well developed characters as they worked through their feelings, growth in their relationship, and reached their HEA. A bit of danger and suspense mixed with steamy scenes.
I liked this story it tells about Miranda and Trace they started out as partners but she left the game wardens to start a rehab center for injured animals and she finds herself up against some pretty bad people. Stong characters, bit of action and romance what more could you ask for. Miranda is smart tough and knows how to keep her head in tough times. Another good book by Reina. I received an arc for a honest review.
Enjoyed reading Trace and Miranda's journey from working as partners, then her as a wild life rescue rehabilitation center and finding herself in the cross hairs of very bad people. Will Trace be able to save Miranda and finally grab his chance at love...grab this one and enjoy the ride!!
Omg I absolutely fell in love with Trace Carson. He has been secretly in love with Miranda and holy smokes this book is absolutely full of romance and chemistry and steamy sex scenes and suspense and action packed and let me tell you once you start reading this book you will be hooked until the end and I want more from them lol
Reina Torres has a knack for writing sinfully sweet and sexy romance. And she continues to provide reading smiles, you know, when you are sitting there grinning and suddenly realize everyone can see you are enjoying what you are reading, like her latest work of joy, Justice for Miranda.
We fall in love with her characters and follow them though frustration and finding themselves where they need to be. And this one has a bonus if you love animals.
Settle in to your favorite reading nook, and prepare yourself for a vacation from your every day worries. Reina knows how to make you feel gooooood!
This is the first book I’ve ever read about Game Wardens, Animal Sanctuaries and the problems the general public can cause that brings peril to our animal friends. I loved the story-line and the fact it is not only a great story but it brings awareness about the many workers it takes to keep our Preserves and Parks safe. Miranda Jimenez is one of a few female game wardens in Texas as she decides to change jobs in saving the lives of the animals we love to watch and enjoy. When trouble comes her way, she is one tough gal with fight, daring and smarts to save her life. There are sensual scenes in this book and they are well written. I received an early ARC copy of this book and thank the author for doing a great job of writing.
Another wonderful addition to the Operation Alpha series, where each book will read as a stand-alone and are the creations of a large group of authors. The story will take place in Texas and involve Texas State Game Wardens. Trace Carson is one of the instructors for the course, as well as an active game warden. Miranda Jimenez has followed in the footsteps of her father, who is a retired game warden but she has just turned in her notice. She feels that she needs to open a wild animal rehabilitation where her cousin, Jun Tottori, will be the veterinarian. The house and property were left to her by her late grandmother.
“Texas Game Wardens don’t just protect the natural resources of the Lone Star State; they protect the people as well. Trace Carson considers every warden as more than just fellow officers; they’re family. Especially, Miranda Jimenez.”
The plot of the story will have Trace and his partner, Conor, bringing an injured alligator turtle to the wildlife rehabilitation center run by Miranda. Later, when Trace and Conor are on a stakeout for poachers, they will also find an injured doe and call in Miranda for help. At the scene, she will notice one of the poachers with drugs—and that will eventually lead to arrest and a trial, but it also places Miranda as a target from these men.
When word comes to Miranda that she is in danger, Trace and the other wardens take it very seriously, and it is decided he needs to be there to protect her and her animals. For years, Trace and Miranda have avoided their feelings for each other, but now, with him in her home and no longer working together, they will talk about it—but better than that, they will act upon it.
“I like the way you used to look in your uniform, but I love the way you look in dresses.”
The story will be a spicy romantic suspense tale that involves two people who have had feelings but never acting on them, finally admitting to each other how they feel. It will be full of passion and great chemistry between Trace and Miranda. What they thought was a secret; everyone around them knew that they belonged together. The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly, and when Miranda and Jun are attacked at the rehabilitation center, it will become a matter of life and death. How will they find where the poachers have absconded with Miranda?
The story is a fast-paced, action-packed suspense thriller, with a great cast of characters, plenty of intense moments, and brings out the best in people during a crisis. When one of their own is in danger, they band together to bring her home. The story does have a happy ending.
“I just wanted you to know; I’ll always find you. Anything that happens, no matter how crazy or scary, I’ll be there.”
JUSTICE FOR MIRANDA drew me in easily with Miranda and Trace as friends, co-workers, and each attracted to the other but keeping their silence for their own reasons. This stand-off ends on the night of Miranda’s “retirement” party from the Texas Game Wardens to opening a wildlife reserve/clinic with her cousin Jun. She’d always loved animals and this was truly her calling, but it also broke her heart to not have close contact with Trace each day. One kiss begins a rollercoaster romance between two people who have loved each other in silence for years, now that love gets to shine and show its true value. I used the word “rollercoaster” for a specific reason for that is exactly the feel that JUSTICE FOR MIRANDA gives to me. It starts out steady with a delightful ‘will it or will it not be’ type of romance and then the tensions, the excitement, the pace, and the entire feel of the story increases with each passing chapter until you’re on that downward first hill of a rollercoaster and you won’t be getting off this ride until the very end.
I loved every moment in Trace and Miranda’s journey, and I’m willing to bet that if you love Romantic Suspense then you will, too. There are some intense moments. I hesitate to call them triggers, but there are, again some very intense scenes. The story has a very realist, real-life feel to it, I can easily imagine this happening to someone. I’m not one to give away spoilers, but JUSTICE FOR MIRANDA had me glued to my Kindle with no breaks. So, yeah, I’d say I enjoyed this one.
If you love a believable romance with some suspense and lots of intriguing secondary characters to enjoy, then you’ll want to check out Trace and Miranda’s story.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Miranda Jimenez knew – actually expected - that she could be in danger in her former job as a Texas game warden. That is why she gave it her all in academy and when on duty, especially following the advice from her mentor and secret crush Trace Carson. Now a wildlife rehabilitator, Miranda has found her true calling. But when she finds herself the target of some very scary, very ruthless people, her former colleagues come to her aid, including the very tempting Trace….. What a sweet and spicy read! I loved this book by Ms. Torres, who again writes about very real people in a very real way. I love that this book, as many of hers, are populated with people from different ethnic and societal backgrounds, bringing their unique “voices” to the story. The writing is always so vibrant – you can hear Miranda’s mother talking, smell the delicious food at the party, feel Trace’s warmth as Miranda and he embrace. It is not merely a mash of descriptive words that paint the picture – this author accomplishes this in a much more subtle yet effective way. To me it is pure magic how she does this – and for an author, what a gift to have! Speaking of gifts, Trace Carson is truly one for us readers! What female can resist a hero who has some silver in his hair and a heart full of gold! He was a worthy hero for the amazing Miranda. A terrific read!
Justice for Miranda is the second installment of Reina Torres’ San Antonio’s 1st Responders series. In this one, Ms. Torres focuses on the romantic journey of Miranda Jimeniz and Trace Carson. She is a former game warden now running her own wild animal rehabilitation center. She works with her cousin and Vetenarian, Jun Totomi. Trace is still a game warden. At one time Miranda and Trace were coworkers. They were always attracted to each other but did not cross the line. Now, however, the pull of their attraction and affection increases. Destiny moves them along in their journey when Miranda is endangered from local criminals seeking revenge. What will happen to Miranda? Can she use her training to overcome them? Does Trace rescue her? Will they find happiness? You must read this book to find out.
Once again, Ms. Torres masterfully creates multi-dimensional and likeable lead characters. Her secondary characters are equally likeable. I enjoyed how she interjects suspense and intrigue through her antagonists, a local gang. Through her use of descriptive language, Ms. Torres paints vibrant scenes as she captures the interactions between and among her characters. Ms. Torres manages to successfully incorporate several features of a classic romantic suspense: a dual-prong plot line, plot tension, descriptive language painting vivid scenes, intrigue behind the revenge actions of the local gang members, and strong dialog.
Justice for Miranda by Reina Torres is the second book in her Police and Fire: Operation Alpha: San Antonio First Responders series with Susan Stoker's world.
This is Miranda Jimenez and Trace Carson's story. Since this is my first book read in Ms. Torres series I can say this would be a great standalone read. Did I mention one of my favorite shows is Lone Star Law? This book is just as good as the show.
Miranda Jimenez has spent four years as a Texas Game Warden and is now leaving to start her own Wildlife rehab place Totes Goats N' Things. While there she and Trace Carson dance around each other never taking the next step even though the other wardens know that these two together would be fireworks. Being a game warden is rewarding but when a trial against some poachers leads to a warning and threats against her become deadly. When Miranda goes missing it will take everyone including Conor Paxton, Texas Rangers and Station 7 to find her in time before the poachers do something desperate.
Trace Carson has been Miranda's teachers and field trainer when she graduated the academy but he's always held back on telling her his feelings for her. (Even though the office has a pool going on how long it will take him) but when she leaves for her Wildlife rehab will he finally let her know that he loves her?
I love a strong heroine, and this author writes some of the best. Miranda is a retired Texas Game Warden, retired because she wants to run her wild animal rehab clinic. It's an admirable decision, but it takes her from the man she's been crushing on, Trace, who is about a decade older than she is... a man she shouldn't get involved in.
Trace knows the danger of being a Texas Game Warden, but he lives for the thrill of catching the poachers. And when he runs into a situation where assistance is needed to rescue and rehab an animal, he knows exactly who to call. He's had a thing for Miranda since he was her instructor. No matter what he does, he can't seem to get her off of his mind.
When an arrest turns sideways, Miranda is put in danger. And if Trace doesn't figure out how to rescue her, he might just lose her.
Miranda is brave and strong and keeps her wits even when she's the one in danger. I love the way this author has such insight into not only the subject of her story but the way the characters should react. This one held my attention until the very end. Miranda made some brilliant moves, and the ending was especially heartwarming.
The best part of life is finding that "match", they don't have to be perfect, just perfect for you! Jump into this incredible romance!
Miranda after four years chasing the family dream & crushing on her trainer and partner she is pushing to move on. She going after her dreams with a little hope that everything works out. Trace he her boss and ten years older what the he'll is he thinking? He doesn't know but at her going away party he crossed the line & kisses her..... The events push them apart then together & then a horrific event. Suspense & murder & kidnapping all add to this page turned. Grumpy Alpha male with a change in whirlwind style is impressive to watch. Love strong woman this is a great story. Justice for Miranda is the second book in the "San Antonio First Responders" series. Miranda Jimenez is a Texas Game Warden and Trace Carson, who is a little older, was her in-field training officer. They both had feelings towards one another but never acted on them. Miranda loved her job, but her real dream was to open a wild animal rehabilitation center. She decided to follow her dream and retired from her game warden job, complete with a party and a kiss from Trace. When Miranda finds herself in trouble, it will take Trace and the whole law enforcement division to help her get back to where she belongs. This is a romantic suspense, friends to lovers book with great characters and it will keep you turning those pages.
Excellent read by Reina Torres! Trace Carson has been hiding his feelings for Miranda Jimenez since she started with the Texas Game Wardens. When she decides to retire and start an animal rescue center with her cousin, he acts on his feelings and kisses her, but then says it's a mistake. When Miranda is called to help a deer, the fallout leaves her in danger. Now Trace must use all his resources to help her. Loved how passionate Miranda was about helping wild animals. The chemistry between Trace and Miranda was HOT!! Loved this book! It has romance, suspense, danger, and injured wild animals. Highly recommended!
I love Trace and Miranda, although I wasn't quite sure what the hold up was. Miranda was clearly in love with Trace, and everyone could see how Trace felt about her, but I guess I didn't get a clear understanding of what Trace's hesitation was in being with Miranda. It kind of caused the story to drag in the middle a little bit. I loved the suspense aspect. I never really understood a Game Warden's full responsibility so it was interesting to see that aspect played out in a story. Again, I love the world that Susan Stoker has built with all these agencies working together for a greater common goal, and that she allows other authors to utilize her characters in their stories.
this is an amazing story full of deep emotion, adventure and action, as well as steam. Miranda is a retiring Game warden who is now working at an Animal rescue with her cousin, but is still working very closely with her former collegues. She has held feelings for her old trainer and partner for years and he for her, now they are just letting them surface. Trace has always has feelings for Miranda but thought he was too old for her, too bad Miranda never thought so, she always thought he was the most handsome male around. I received an arc of this story that i happily reviewed
What an enchanting story! Miranda and Trace Armstrong both a bit rough around the edges, but together they are smooth as silk. A Romance that started years beforehand is finally coming to bloom. How hard it is to work with someone you care for, even harder when you are afraid to express what you feel. Well these two finally get their chance when their world is turned upside down. A great story with incredible characters, the action is a definite bonus! Perfect for all Romance lovers who need that HEA!
Trace has secretly loved Miranda since he trained her to become a Game Warden but he felt he was too old for her. Miranda had feelings for him too but neither acted on their feelings while they were working together. Just when their romance gets going there's an unexpected twist that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. I loved the connection and chemistry between Miranda and Trace. This is a well written story with great characters and a perfect ending. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
What a great story. I couldn't put it down. There was some smoking hot chemistry between Trace and Miranda and some nail biting action. But there were also some fun and sweet moments too. It was fun to read how Trace thought he needed to keep his feelings and desires from Miranda because he thought she deserved someone closer to her age (there's a slight age gap) but she was totally into him too. Loved reading how their relationship developed amidst their work related troubles (the action part of the story). Overall a very enjoyable read.
The story starts with a long time attraction and possible romance between Game Wardens. Miranda has been a warden for four years and recently decided to pursue her dreams of running a Wild Animal Rescue. As she establishes herself in that area, the attraction between herself and Trace becomes more intense. When she is called to a scene to help, she also encounters the dangerous men that were arrested. After their release, they return to kidnap her. An intense rescue mission and a declaration from Trace.
Awful. Did not finish. It was painful to push through to see if it got better. The premise was fine and the characters might have been fine, too. But the writing was so basic it felt like reading a child’s work. The first book in the series wasn’t like this. So much so that I went and checked if it was a series that had different authors for different books. I am shocked this has an average over 4. But when I read the reviews that are 4s or 5s they talk about it being inconsistent, bad, or worse than the first one. So, who knows whose rating it.
