Yes, I climbed into Jake Jensen’s lap and kissed the crap out of him in a crowded bar to make my ex jealous.
Yes, I lied to my family and told them I’m in a relationship with the guy, even though he doesn’t know my name or my family’s connection to one of the hottest software companies in the US.
Yes, I’m now on my way to convince him to be my fake boyfriend for my father’s company retreat in exchange for...whatever the heck he wants if it’ll get me out of this mess.
And no, I’m most definitely not interested in his smoldering eyes or the way his hands feel against my body.
Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she's not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy.
She adores photography, baking, her yorkie, Bob, and her devon rex, Mara. And now that she's actively pursuing her writing dreams, she's set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.
I have been waiting on Jake’s story. He has been spiraling some since meeting Reece. She chose someone else, and this has messed with Jake. Are his schooling and future at risk? Well, this reader was not disappointed, from the first kiss at the Seabird to the final sentence in the epilogue.
Evie needs to lose Troy, the ex. She is not with him for the right reasons, as daddy should not set your future. Also, in his circle, we see a familiar troublemaker.
Jake and Evie together are special. Their journey from fake to real, the suspense, and their chemistry. He shows Evie what a boyfriend should be. Together they a better.
This story does stand alone, but better if you read the series. So bring on Fender, I am ready for his story.
Thank you to Booksprout and the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Risky Business, book four in the Wrecked Roommates series is just as fun and entertaining as the previous books. I just loved the main characters and all of the side characters, many who we have already met. Although Troy was definitely an exception and you will have to read to find out why he is not a favorite. What started out as a fake relationship between Evie and Jake turned into so much more. They had chemistry but they also each had their own hurdles to overcome before they could fully open up their hearts to one another and they found a way to fix each other and come out with a strong bond of love and friendship in the end.
If you are looking for an entertaining, fun, captivating read look no further than Evie and Jake’s story. You know you are in for a fun ride right from the start of this book when Evie climbs into Jake’s lap whilst trying to escape her ex and before you know it this couple embark on a fake dating relationship. I fell hard and fast for Jake and I adored Evie but for me their characters got stronger and more adorable as their relationship goes from fake to real, as we see them open up and admit their true feelings. As always Ms Rae paints some wonderful pictures with her words and throughout this entertaining read I really imagined and pictured the antics Jake and Kelsey got up to as they tried to sell their relationship to her family. I guess all that’s left for me to say is please one click this gem, you won’t be disappointed.
Evelyn Buchanan (“Evie”) is being followed by her now ex-fiance Troy McAdams and her brother Henry as she heads to Seabird. She knows Troy wants to talk to her about her catching him with his arm around Tabatha Landry the night before. Whether they were on a “break” from each other or not, he should not have cheated. She had many questions about how she felt about him and had needed the break to decide. His actually being with someone else made it clear to her. She rushes into the bar, looking for a place to hide, somewhere to avoid facing Troy. Then she recognizes someone she knows, a TA from her class she had never spoken to. So she sits on Jake Jensen’s lap and kisses him, claiming him as her boyfriend. When Troy and Henry leave, she climbs off his lap. He doesn’t demand an explanation or complain about what she did. He doesn’t use people to get ahead; he works hard to be the best he can. And she respects him for that. He is her hero.
But when her father is told of what happened, he demands she still come to the retreat with the family and she will be nice to Troy. Then her mother steps in and suggests she also bring her new boyfriend! Will Jake help her again? She was not going to ask him – until her mother said Troy had said he was bringing a date to the retreat! Now she has no choice. Can she convince him to be her fake boyfriend for her father’s company retreat in exchange for perhaps a promise to get him an interview at her father’s company? Will she notice that Jake is what a boyfriend should be, always putting her first? Or will she keep fighting her feelings, believing this is just temporary and not at all real?
Grab your copy and see if a beautiful journey from fake to real love is possible for Evie and Jake. Together they bring out the best in each other. Will they choose to give love a try?
Gah, I love Jake so much! This book just cemented my feelings! I really enjoyed the dynamic between him and Eve and following their whirlwind of a romance. I also loved getting to see a glimpse of Henry! I did not realize before starting these books that all of the series were interconnected, but getting to see that little glimpse of him with his sister made me love him even more.
I really enjoyed this book. Jake hasn’t been my favorite character in this series so far since it seemed like he was always woah is me. However after reading the sneak peak from the last book I couldn’t wait to start Risky Business, I mean that meet cute is everything! I love the fake relationship troupe. Jake developed a lot as a character in the book and I also loved Evie. The family dynamics in the story were really great and I loved the glimpse from Kelsie’s other works. Overall I would recommend this book!
To say that Evie and Jake’s story was messy or complicated would be an understatement. My first impression of Jake was not a favourable one. I thought he was too arrogant, too angry and too much of a jerk for Evie. Yes, Evie seemed to be a little shallow and spoiled at first, but I soon came to realize that I was wrong about Jake and Evie. Poor Evie had been trained to “toe the line” to give into her fathers demands and to accept dirt bag Troy as her future husband because it was expected to happen. But she found the strength to refuse Troy’s marriage proposal after noticing far too many changes in his behaviour. Using Jake to make Troy either jealous or to back off certainly didn’t work, but it did bring Jake into her life. Behind the player reputation he had garnered for himself, was heartbroken guy who decided to play the field rather than be hurt again. Jake may have agreed to a play Evie’s fake boyfriend in order to get another chance at his dream job, but that was before he caught feelings, as some would say, for the beautiful, poised woman who didn’t know her own value thanks to her family. He may have assumed the role of a jerk, but he was a great guy at his core, who recognized Evie’s value and wanted the best for her. Dealing with her judgemental, disapproving family was one thing, her dirt bag ex who wouldn’t take no for an answer was another. That fake relationship turned out to be a love match, though the journey toward a happily ever after was definitely bumpy.
The strong, realistic and very relatable characters and their fascinating storyline made this book engaging and enjoyable enough that I read it one sitting. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This may be the first time I read the “first chapter” of an author I have never read before, and acquired the book because of it!
There is a great setup: Evie wants a “break”, but almost immediately catches her boyfriend Troy cheating. As he follows her into a bar, she spots someone who was a TA in her class Jake - sits in his lap, kisses the fool out of him, and claims him as her boyfriend.
It’s more complicated though… said boyfriend is the son of her father’s business partner. The firm is a high-tech firm which is well sought after. Evie and Troy basically grew up together and were “betrothed”. Jake the “new boyfriend” had a hiccup in his schooling, and missed an interview at this high-tech firm. Suddenly a deal is made. Continue to pretend to be my boyfriend, and I will get you another chance at an internship.
Jake doesn’t like how Evie is treated like an object. Evie likes how she feels around him. But misunderstandings create a rift. Ups and down, twists and turns. Romance, family obligations, and a completely entertaining read!! Glad I jumped in, and you will be too.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Risky Business had me hanging on every word and this title is perfect! I couldn’t wait for Jake to get his story and I couldn’t put this book down. Evelyn and Jake had an awesome encounter right from the start and I was all in. I had to know everything and more!! This couple brought out the best and sometimes the worst in each other in a unique situation. Jake is the sweetest and he takes nerdy, smart hot guy to a whole new level. Eve is reminded why toeing the line isn’t as important as her own self worth and happiness. Her dad made me crazy and I’m so glad Jake was not easily intimidated by anyone. Then there’s Traitor Troy, which is just one of the nicknames I gave him while reading this story. Let’s just say if I could inflict bodily harm through a kindle, it would have happened to him and someone else more than once. You need to read this book for the Benadryl, the dance, paintball, camping, the door and the promise alone. I wanna be the girl Jake sacrifices everything for!
This is the 4th book in the series, it can be read on its own but I would suggest reading the previous books to help get more of an idea of what happened to Jake before the events of this book.
Jake first meets Eve when she sits on his lap and starts kissing him as a way to make her ex boyfriend jealous. Jake has turned into a manwhore since his heart was broken so this isn't something that phases him. Eve needs a way to make her family realise she can survive on her her own and to make her ex jealous, so she approaches Jake with an offer. She will help him get a job at her dad's company if he pretends to be her boyfriend for a weekend. Jake is eager to work for the company after messing up his one chance previously. They start off the weekend as people who hardly know anything about each other, but will spending time together be good for the both of them.
I am so glad that Jake finally has his own book, he hasn't had the easiest time with relationships. I am looking forward to Fender's book.

So far, this is my favorite book from the Wrecked Roommates series. I was dying to get Jake's story, which did not disappoint. Women want good guys and Prince Charming, even if he didn't think it that way. So, it was refreshing to have him be happy without changing. Ultimately, Jake has the whole package: looks, charisma, intelligence, nerd vibe, and incredibly thoughtful.
I love Jake and Evelyn's story. It starts fake, but it quickly changes for both of them and even though they had some messy moments, we didn't have the push and pull from the other books. They have some of the best and most steamy moments of the books, and they are all by the good guy; no need to have a bad boy or a toxic guy to have them.
Since I read the other series from the author before this one, it was fun to get to know the characters we so in passing on the other books and to understand some things that interconnect with them.
Jake’s life has been spiraling out of control after he loses out on his best friends sister, Reese to another member of the house, River the male model turned Hollywood actor.
Evelyn, Eve, Evie uses Jake to make her on-off boyfriend jealous, but they have a sizzle.
Evie uses her connections to help Jake get an internship in return for helping her decide what she really wants, or rather who.
Marty, the dealer, half-brother of Fender is in the background and he’s now the dealer to Evil’s ex, Troy.
There’s a lot of drama in the story, but also fantastic chemistry between Evie and Jake. And as a reader, I’m honestly pulling for the, to work their $hit out right after their second interaction.
Chemistry, drama, sex, and finally love, but worth the tortured path it takes for Evie and Jake to find their happy ending.
I really enjoyed this story. Evie was trying to make Troy jealous at first when she climbed on Jake's lap at the bar and laid a hot kiss on him. She isn't sure if she wants him back, but she is enjoying her time with Jake. When he agrees to pose as her boyfriend, she agrees to get him an internship at her father's company. He is graduating soon and is very good at what he does. Troy keeps popping up causing trouble. As they work their feelings out, Jake and Evie figure out it's the real thing. I really like Jake's integrity and Evie's desire to not rock the family dynamic while still striving for independence

Jake is such a good guy. He really thinks he is broken. His recent past has led to him missing out on the job of a lifetime and losing the girl. When Evie tumbles into his life like a tornado she shakes him up. Their story has it all, chemistry, banter, fun, a mystery, politics and love. I really love Evie and Jake. I love his family and his friends who have become family. I love Henry, Evie's brother, after we get more depth from him, and I love her mom. I have yet to decide about her dad. Troy of course is a train wreck and his dad is a jerk. This story is deeply filled with all the feelings and it is well worth your time.

I adore Kelsie Rae, and have followed her on TikTok for a long while. So, when she talked about this book, I bought it without realizing it was part of a series. That being said, I think this book can be read as a stand alone, because there wasn’t a time where I was wondering what was going on.
I really liked Jake, super sweet and selfless although sometimes his rants at the beginning about not getting involved with her, got annoying.
Evie also annoyed me with her inability to say no to Troy. At points I just wanted to shake her.
All in all though, I really enjoyed the progression of the story, and how everything worked out for them!
Evie and Jake’s fake relationship is full of risky business but it is all oh so good when their connection just rages like a fire. I was hooked on both of the characters as Evie doesn’t wanna settle for comfort and Jake doesn’t wanna be the sideline guy anymore. During the story I really got a feel for how they both learn about what real love is to them and how they wanted to explore that love with each other.

I am so glad this is Jakes story. I have been waiting for his. Jake is just getting by after the girl he loved didn’t reciprocate the feelings and moved with his best friend. Evie is trying to get away from her ex who sees her walking down the street. So she ducks into the bar and sees Jake sitting there. She decides that kissing him will get the point across to her ex. And she expects that to be the end of her interaction with Jake. Until she has to ask him to be her fake boyfriend for the weekend. This was a good story. And I am really looking forward to Fenders story next.
this might just be one of my favorites from this series. the push and pull of wanting jake to end up with eve and i’m so glad he did. after everything, they both deserve their happy ending.
i loved all of the plot twists of this book. i never expected half of the things that happened. obviously with marty, i knew that troy was in deep trouble.
but the fact that eve’s father was able to finally see what a good (and smart) guy jake is! and the fact henry stood up for him, i mean DANG! talk about a good friend right there.
i’m just so happy eve found her happiness without being forced into marriage and jake got his job. eve has friends and jake is successful. SUCH A GOOD, QUICK, EASY READ!!
i wanna if eve’s dad gets his political position though LOL

I am just loving this series! I have been patiently impatiently waiting for Jake's book. After everything in book one I just needed his story. Jake is hanging in the bar with Milo when this gorgeous girl climbs into his lap and kisses him. What is even happening? Evie needs to make her ex jealous. When she sees Jake in the bar she knows what she has to do. Now in the aftermath, she needs Jake to fake date her to convince her family that her ex is not the one for her. I love a fake dating trope. The tension and spice was so good. I cannot wait to read the next one.
The story will keep you entertained til the end . Jake get his chance to shine with evie on his arm. Jake is still quiet & reserved in his story. He starts standing tall & fighting for what he wants before it is to late. Evie is a dare devil she isn't of afraid to take the risk & put herself out in the world. I was happy evie got the choice to be happy & not have people telling her what decision she needs to make. The cameo of past characters was a real treat as well.
Yaaassss! I've been ready and waiting for Jake's story since this series started and Rae did not disappoint! Evelyn is a fantastic character who fits in seamlessly with the rest of the gang. As usual the story tied in with the rest without a flaw and was sprinkled with Easter eggs for past readers. 5 stars for this one and I'm ready for Fender now!
Evie and Jake fake turn real relationship. What starts off as a way to make her cheating boyfriend jealous turns into more. She finds out she deserves better in Jake. They have great chemistry and it was a good fake relationship to more read

I loved this. Evie and Jake were gorgeous with amazing chemistry. Jake was the ‘nice guy’ jaded by a past relationship, and Evie the dutiful daughter struggling to know her own heart. Their love story was very beautiful and engaging - I couldn’t put it down!

Wow this book was great! The way she greets him at the bar was amazing! I loved how he was a kind of laid back quiet person who thought he wasn’t good enough. He was what every girl should have in a man. I loved this read even got ya some dirty scenes in there.
This book is everything!!! Definitely my favorite of the series...I love Jake and Eve...I love thier journey, love and suspense... cannot wait for more!!! So excited for Fender's story and updates on Jake and Eve...
Evie knew that her ex was right there when she climbed into Jake's lap and kissed him like he was the only man in the world for her. This is a romance that has a bit more then just a sweet love story about two strangers that become friends. It has a twist and a plot and wow it is really good. This is part of a series but it can be read as a stand alone.
It is so good and I love the friendship between Jake and Evie.
I loved the book. There was plenty of angst and lots of messy feelings going on. I was totally there for the ride. I really liked Jake's character. Despite being wrecked, he was just so understanding, sensitive, and romantic. He's the perfect book boyfriend. I enjoyed the romance, the sexual chemistry, and also the story line of the book. Would totally read another from this series.
Another amazing Kelsie Rae book! I loved the suspense of this one and not really knowing if Jake and Eve would end up together. It was great to finally see Jake getting into a relationship. I love them together!
