Little Critter's mother is in bed with a cold, so it's up to him and his sister to take care of her. With a little ingenuity and a lot of fun, they quickly learn what to do. Filled with delightful illustrations by Mercer Mayer, this adorable book about growing up will make every parent and child giggle together.

This one has to be one of my very favorites. Any mom who has ever been sick and had to take care of herself and the children all day will really be able to relate. This little golden book really makes me laugh.
So far this is my favorite Little Critter book! It has a really accurate presentation of what it would be like for a kid to take care of their parent when their sick. It is an easy book for little kids to read or great for a bedtime story.
A son and a daughter have an eventful day as they attempt to take care of their sick mother. Grandma has their baby brother, dad is off to work, and the son and the daughter are on duty! They tried bringing their mom food, something to drink, water to keep her warm, and they even tried cleaning the house. All of their efforts turned into disasters, but mom was OK with it because it was the thought that mattered to her. At the end of the day, they all agreed it was better when mom took care of everyone.
For an activity, I would have the students choose a profession that requires a person to take care of another person, and describe this profession to the best of their ability. The students would also draw a detailed picture to go along with this description.
This is a sweetly funny tale about what happens when Mom is sick. The illustrations are just as cute as I've come to expect from the Little Critter books. The narrative is short and the illustrations are colorful and funny.
