Victor Wolfgang von Hagen (February 29, 1908 - March 8, 1985) was a US-American explorer, archaeological historian, anthropologist, and travel writer who traveled the South Americas with his wife, Christine. Mainly between 1940 and 1965, he published a large number of widely acclaimed books about the ancient people of the Inca, Maya, and Aztecs.
This book is not for beginners. It’s dense, sometimes hard to follow, and it tends to jump between topics. The structure could be better, and it occasionally raises questions without really answering them.
Still, it’s worth reading because there are so few books focused on the Moche and Chimú cultures.
I’d recommend starting with a more general book on Peru and the Inca first, so you can build a clearer overall picture before diving into this one.
Eccellente testo di storia Un testo di storia autorevole a mio dire, che prende in esame il popolo Mochica e Chimù come predecessori dell'impero Inca, attraverso un'analisi di usi e costumi (anche sessuali).
