Albert the dog just can't stop himself from eating Sarah Jane's favorite fishy nibbles. But what will happen when Sarah Jane finds out there are none left for breakfast? Will fishy nibbles come between a hungry hound and his feline friend?
Malachy Doyle is the author of Antonio on the Other Side of the World, Getting Smaller and many other books for children. He lives in Donegal, Ireland.
Albert and Sarah live together and they are best friends. Their favorite thing to do together is curl up together and lie by the fire together. Albert likes to eat out of his big, blue bowl but he also likes to eat out of Sarah Jane's bowl too when she's not looking. He thinks her treats taste better than his and he only takes a few when she's not looking.
One day, he decides to take a few of Sarah Jane's treats and well, he ended up eating everything in her bowl! When Sarah Jane went to her bowl it was empty and she thought Albert smelled like fish and he was a bit heavier than normal. He thought Albert ate her food so she went to live next door. Albert missed his friend and he howled for her (cried). I liked how he missed her so much.
It's a sweet ending and I think kids will like the ending too. The illustrations are bold and colorful and the text font is big and bold too. On the back page, there are some questions for teachers or parents to ask children about the story.
A cute story about friendship: the dog eats the catfood, so the cat moves out, but they miss each other so after establishing that the dog wouldn't eat catfood again, the cat moves back. Delightful pictures.
This was a brilliant book and I enjoyed this book very much. Albert is a dog, Sarah Jane is a cat. One day Albert is sooo hungry that he eats Sarah Jane cat food..oh dear.
My granddaughter loves dogs and I love cats so when we saw this book we knew we had to get it. Albert and Sarah Jane is a good story about friends. The pages are colorful and bright which is so inviting. Very well written. A great story to share with young ones so they can understand what is right and wrong. A positive ending. The back of the book has a guide called Notes for Teachers and Parents. One of the questions is ask the children if they have ever taken something that belonged to someone else. Why? What happened? I highly recommend this book for your little ones.
I was given this book from QEB Publishing for a honest review.
Very sweet both in text and illustration story about a dog and a cat. The dog ate the cats food and only meant to nibble on it but he ate it all. The cat gets upset and moves next door. But then they both start missing each other and they talk about what happened and the dog promises not to eat the cat food ever again.
