Ever since I can remember, my family have been Elvis Presley admirers. No matter where we've lived, my father's 40" by 40" personally signed portrait of Elvis dipping a vintage Shure microphone in split stance has always graced a wall in the main living room, the albums sit proudly on display, as well as the collection of C-grade movies Presley reluctantly made throughout his career, which we've recently obtained on Blu-Ray (I know...). That said, I read this book some years ago, because for a very long period during my teenage years, I caught the Presley bug that lingered my household. I bought the mp3s, the posters, the memorabilia, went to Memphis for the full Graceland experience and of course, read every book I could get my hands on, including this one which I found storaged with a bunch of Agatha Christies and Charles Dickenses in the attic. Now let me make one thing very clear: I in no way buy into all of the "Elvis is Alive" conspiracies out there, and going into the reading of this book, had no intention of being convinced otherwise. I read it purely for kicks and a kick is what I got. Giorgio has certainly done her research and it is evident in how detailed her theories are. She writes with a sort of insistence that almost makes you want to believe her, like it would be easier to accept all the brouhaha that die-hards and conspiracy fiends alike have come up with because they are too stubborn to believe that, like every living thing, death is inevitable and it does not discriminate. For what it's worth - a source of entertainment, that is - I found Giorgio's book amusing and thought-provoking. It's not out of this world impossible to believe that she may be onto something with the case she presents, and perhaps that's what made reading this book so fun. I know that this book frequents garage sales and library clearances, so if you're lucky enough to get your hands on a copy and find Elvis Presley at all interesting, I'd recommend checking it out.

Interesting because hidden in it is a brief history of the idea that Elvis did not die when he was supposed to, written at a point when all this was fresh and new, like all this type of conspiracy it is perhaps not completely convincing, but not too far out to be completely dismissed.

I got this book used. It's almost 30 years old - so the cassette has been lost over time. :( YouTube is a good source of information. But I haven't found an online source for what was on the tape that came with this book from new. Yet...

This small book has given me much to think about. I read Orion a couple of months ago and just assumed it was written by an Elvis Obsessed fan. But this book raises the interesting point (over and over again), that the author wasn't a fan at all and wrote it before most of tales of his life were published/general knowledge. Some of the claims seam very far fetched and rather tenuous. But there was a plenty in here that is very believable. My brain is going into overdrive. One thing occurred to me towards the end. If Ms Brewer-Giorgio was so close to the truth that Orion was canned, how was this book able to be published? Did The Men in Black assume the general public would write it off as the ramblings of a mad woman?

I think this book could do with a Now update. I'm sure that even more has now come to light. In this book she notes that people change their minds over time. One name I picked up on was Alana Nash, a fellow journalist who was convinced Elvis lived. I just read a recent (very good) book by her, which gave me a very strong impression that she thought Elvis did die in 1977. Interesting....

If Elvis really didn't die, I really hope he found happiness and a good life.

Love the fact that no accusations have been made only questions raised. You the reader, have to draw your own conclusions. All I am going to say is, that celebrities are people also and they deserve privacy in their day to day lives. It is the crazy/frenzied *fans that seem to have lead to the demise of many greats both directly and indirectly... If you adore and respect someone please give them the space to be human. Love them enough to let them be.

Very strong case that Elvis did not die in August of 1977. I found the book fascinating in its details, research, and the sequence of events with regards to her book, "Orion", and Elvis' life. Great read.

After reading this book, I am still unsure if Elvis is alive. However, I am 100% sure that somebody is hiding something about his death and whereabouts.

This was such an odd book. I didn't actually hear the audio, but the book itself certainly brings up some interesting points. Is Elvis alive? Well, I just don't know.

With a title like 'is Elvis alive' I expected it to.. well be all about Elvis. But the author mostly talked about herself, and the information about Elvis was just the same facts being repeated. I also hated the face she compared a conversation she didn't want to have to being raped. And the her book getting taken off the shelf as abortion. Those are not things you compare to anything! Especially just a simple conversation and a book!

Very well written and definitely gives you something to think about. Do I still believe he's alive? No, I do not. However, some of the things that happened in the beginning of his death around the time of August 16th 1977 begs to differ, whether he actually passed away on that specific day or not. It does make you think that's for sure!

Started off interesting, lost me part way through with ranting and rambling on. Some other interesting bits near the end. Seemed too much like a vindictive rationalization of her first novel being pulled. Just made me grateful for Google in this day and age.

What...a....load....of.....human/animal bodily waste!!!!

Funny thing is though...I grabbed this book in a library book sale recently just in case I needed something funny to read!!!

3 stars because it's sooo ridiculous, it's funny at times.

Although this book could be considered a two-star read based solely on its qualities and merits, it manages to earn an extra star due to the intriguing Kitsch\/Nostalgia factor it brings to the overall reading experience

This books shows how Elvis faked his own death, but really. It is compelling.

not really into the whole "conspiracy" thing...but this book cost me a dime...and it was worth more in the outlandishness alone....maybe a buck o'five.
