She won't stop looking for the truth about her past. He'll never admit he's loved her all this time. Kamryn Marshall never believed it when they told her that her mom died in a terrible plane crash. For years she's wondered why she saw her mom alive-after disaster struck. Nothing about that fateful airshow so many years ago was what it seems. Now that her horrible brother and awful dad are dead she's inherited everything. It's time to end the silence. For veterinarian Brett Filks, Katherine is the one who got away. When she tells him her name is Kamryn now it's clear she's nothing like the girl who was the love of his life. With his brother recently back from the dead, Brett doesn't need his heart broken all over again. Not when there's a rogue bear on the loose. When danger strikes, it's plain someone doesn't want the real story to come out. But the truth comes at a high price when a determined killer is after them. Willing to stop at nothing to keep the truth buried. For Kamryn and Brett, this could be their Last Chance in the final, explosive story from the Last Chance County series. *a Christian romantic suspense
Lisa Phillips is a USA Today and top ten Publishers Weekly bestselling author of over 80 books that span Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense line, independently published series romantic suspense, and thriller novels. She’s discovered a penchant for high-stakes stories of mayhem and disaster where you can find made-for-each-other love that always ends in happily ever after.
Lisa is a British ex-pat who grew up an hour outside of London and attended Calvary Chapel Bible College, where she met her husband. He’s from California, but nobody’s perfect. It wasn’t until her Bible College graduation that she figured out she was a writer (someone told her). Lisa is a worship leader, tea aficionado, and dog lover of two crazy Airedales.
Expired End was The Last Chance County book # 10 and the last book in the series, but I’m really glad we’re not totally leaving Last Chance County behind (see next series). Finally getting answers about what happened at the airport all those years ago was a great way to end things. Kamryn returns home after years away, facing loss, old heartbreak with Brett (now the town vet), and questions about her mother’s disappearance. Their reunion is emotional and tense, and the lingering feelings between them shines.
One of my favorite quotes:
“It’s the biggest struggle of our lives as believers. Knowing what we’re capable of, and yet giving everything over to God so He can do the work. There are things for us to do, and there are things only He can do.”
Such a good read! Hard to put it down. Kamryn returns to her hometown hoping to find her mama who was killed in an airplane crash when she was four. She was hoping to find out her mama was still alive and not really dead. Her best friend from high school Brett won't leave her side while searching. Immediately upon starting the search her life (and everyone's around her) was put into danger. Can she find out the truth before anyone she cares about (or their loved ones) end up dead?
Loved how the epilogue ties things up. Can't wait to read her next one on pre-order now.
This book had me engaged from the very beginning and now I’m sorry that it is over. Great characters who struggle with events in their pasts and The lies that they keep telling themselves about being failures and not being wanted in their home town. This book has so many characters from previous books and I love the friendships and the way they help and take care of each other It’s filled with action and hard to put down and it has a very happy ending. Hope there are more books to come in this series
After the death of her mean father and evil brother Kamryn returns to the place she grew up to find out what happened to her mother. In the process she is reunited with Brett who had meant so much to her but she had to leave behind. Throughout this adventure much happens with many dangerous twists and turns. This is also book 10 in the series so if you have read the other 9 you find your own closure as the series ends. I very much enjoyed this book.
This story brings the Last Chance characters and community full circle from the first book of the series. As with every book in the series, the action is non-stop from the first page. If you are a fan of romantic suspense and haven't read the series, start from the beginning with Expired Refuge and enjoy the trip to Last Chance County.
Last Chance County has so much mayhem and romance going on that you need to start with book 1 and continue through book 10. Lisa Phillips writes about the serious challenges each hero and heroine faces, not only personally, but about the crimes happening around them. Seriously read them.
This is the 10th and final book in this series....and what an awesome series, and an awesome end to it. Not only was the plot and suspense done very well, but the author ended it in a cool way: she wound up the ending for a few of the couples from the other books.
A new name she returns for answers of what happened, was her Mother still alive. Thinking people might not recognizer her. Brett did, he had and still loved her. What brought her back here, and would she be staying.
Lots of harrowing plots over the expanse of the 10 books of this series! Each book showed people coming together to create a better place for themselves and others. Bravo!!!
Brett and Kamryn both think they are not good enough. When she flies back into his life will he help her find answers to her past? God shows up to show them that they are always good enough to Him.
This was a nice end to the series. We get character involvement from everyone and some things from the past books gets tied up a little more. I’m excited to start the next series by Phillips.
A great finale to the series. Lots of action and suspense. Interesting as it all came together. A wrapped up cold case made it all that much sweeter of an ending.
