After years of juggling long hours at work, studying for her dream vocation and struggling for money it’s finally time for change. Following her dream to become a florist, Sadie Locke moves her two daughters, Lily and Poppy, into The Flower Shop on Serendipity Lane . Discovering that her ex-husband’s friend and divorce solicitor, Alex Marshal, works next door, Sadie feels her hopes of a fresh start quickly slipping away. Pushed together at a mutual friend’s wedding, will Sadie and Alex be able to rekindle a lost friendship or realise too much has come between them? Will Sadie let the past define her future love life, or will she be able to give romance a chance, and will a lost dog Lily finds be the welcome distraction to help them all adapt to village life? A single parent romance filled with self-belief, love and second chances.
This is not a book I liked. I know it’s supposed to be kinda lite, easy, and pleasant but I found it much too annoying. Sadie and her two daughters getting a restart should have been entertaining and captivating. The two egocentric daughters were oblivious to anyone else’s feelings or needs around them. I kept expecting some character development from the kids. Last night it hit me Sadie never said “no” to the girls, that drove me crazy and she was kinda sanctimonious. I was lacking the answers I needed to make this satisfy. Like why was the ex was so willing to screw over her and the kids. Frustrating and completely not satisfying.
I fell for Sadie immediately (and her daughters), so this sweet love story was a quick read. Loved how gentle the author was — nothing but compassion and realness around the pain of divorce, while still giving us a believable HEA.
This was a great book. I loved all the characters, the dog, the back and forwards of the story with the usual very Happy Ending. If you want to be entertained, read this series.
This was a nice, relaxing read but not a lot going on and boring if not in the mood for a cozy simple read. I wasn’t dying to pick it up and keep reading. Also the romance was disappointing for me. I feel like there wasn’t any chemistry or personality shown.
Just like a Hallmark movie, a single moms struggling trying is trying to make a better life for her children, runs a small business and falls in love. Cute story.
I give The Flower Shop on Serendipity Lane 3 out of 5 bacon buttys
3.5 rounded up. I love Sarah Hope but this I like some of her other books more than I did this one. I enjoyed the warmth that is her trademark, but felt the characters could have had more depth and the plot a few more twists and turns to keep it tight. Definitely a feel-good, charming read.
