Jenners Law #1

Unmasking Dorian

Dorian Jenner is an undercover vice cop and a serious Dom. Cassidy Anderson-Lassiter has moved to Detroit with her daughter to work for her new brother in law Marcus Worthington, and to heal from the loss of her husband.

She finds a book on BDSM in her sister Carrie's old apartment. The subject immediately catches her attention. Since the death of her husband Cass has put all she is into raising her daughter. Her wild child days are over, but there is something missing. She's grown cold inside, afraid to make the wrong move in life. To add some excitement she decides to explore the on-line world of D/S. It couldn't hurt, it’s not like she was ever going to meet someone from the computer. That is until she meets Master Darken. He is patient and kind. He takes her to places she'd never known. What starts online eventually leads to a real life meeting. Even though she can't see his face, his actions, his words wrap her in a whirlwind of erotic sensations that thaw the cold in Cassidy's soul.

Hidden behind the mask, Dorian knows that Cass was meant for him, but she is skittish and afraid of the world outside the safe cocoon she's wrapped herself in.

One night she begs to see who the man behind the mask is. What follows is a tempest of emotions that threaten everything Cassidy thought she wanted and needed for herself and her daughter.

Because Unmasking Dorian will force Cassidy to choose between love, faith and hope or an overwhelming fear that could tear her apart forever.

Contains light BDSM, voyeurism, ménage with a sexy Russian, anal play and intercourse, and a bad-ass Dom who knows how to work a mask.

When widower Cassidy Anderson-Lassiter finds a book on BDSM at her sisters, it peaks her interest enough to join an online site about it. When a man offers to help guide her through the different levels of BDSM, an online relationship blossoms between the two, and when her Dom asks to meet her in person she believes she is finally ready for the next step.

Vice cop Dorian Jenner has lusted after Cassidy since the first time he met her. When he realizes the beauty is his online sub, he will do everything in his power to prove to her that he is worthy of her love. But Cassidy treads backwards, already losing a husband in war she is afraid of what could happen to Dorian as a cop.

Great book, I really liked Dorian. Talk about alpha male, yummy.

As usual, a very satisfying read from VS. I did get a little irritated with Cass's fears after a while, but I suppose some of it was understandable. Also, I've read a lot of books in this genre and I was glad to finally read one where the female actually used her safe word at some point. It made it more real and genuine. Just a personal opinion. All in all, I love the characters of Club Velvet Ice...

Violet Summers seems to be a pretty reliable go-to author for BDSM contemporary romantic erotica. Unmasking Dorian was good - quick, very hot, and very sweet. I recommend reading the Worthington stories first, however. It had been a while since I'd read Carrie's Answer and I had lost my thread on the storyverse. I also think I would have liked Dorian's story more had I read the rest of the Worthingtons' books.

When Dorian Jenner first saw Cassidy Anderson-Lassiter at her sister’s wedding, he was instantly attracted. But back then, Cassidy had recently been widowed, had just had a baby, and was in no way prepared to enter a relationship, especially with a man who’s both a Dom and works in a dangerous profession as an undercover vice cop. Nearly two years later, Dorian sees Cassidy once a week when he goes in to meet with the Marcus Worthington, Cassidy’s boss and brother-in-law. Each time he asks her out and each time he’s rebuffed, so imagine his surprise when he learns the new “cyber-sub” he met and fell for on a BDSM site turns out to be none other than Cassidy.

After discovering her sister Carrie’s BDSM book, Cass is intrigued. Her wild child days ended when she got pregnant with her daughter, Katie, but lately Cass has yearned to feel alive once more. Cass decides to give a BDSM site she finds a try, and it’s there she meets Master Darken. As Cass learns about the world of BDSM and her Master, she falls more and more for the “cyber-Dom.” When he suggests they meet at Velvet Ice, a club her brother-in-law is part owner of, Cass takes it as a safe opportunity to meet with the man she’s becoming more and more intrigued by. Cass finds that reality with her masked Dom is even better than cyberspace. But when Dorian is unmasked and she discovers who Master Darken really is, will Cass’s fear of losing another man to a dangerous profession be enough to kill their fledgling relationship?

Sex and sensuality blend beautifully with patience and the courage to love in the divine Unmasking Dorian. This blisteringly hot, heartwarming romance is all I could ask for in a story and everything I’ve come to expect from Violet Summers.

I adored Cass. She’s all that’s kind and likeable, but she’s also suffered a terrible loss which threatens to keep her from living a full life with Dorian. I understood her fears and also looked forward to seeing her overcome them. As for Dorian...can we say “HOT”? He’s an irresistible mix of patience, tenderness, and masterful dominance. He doesn’t give up on Cass, even when she runs from what they have. He’s extremely understanding, but not willing to be cowed by her reticence to form an attachment to him because of his job. He deeply loves Cass, her cute-as-a-button daughter, and his siblings. And did I mention his sex appeal? That bears repeating. Dorian’s the hero dreams are made of, which is a large part of why I fell hard and fast for Unmasking Dorian.

Though Unmasking Dorian is the first in Violet Summers’s sizzling new Jenner’s Law trilogy, fans of this dynamic writing team will be familiar with many of the secondary characters in the story from Violet Summers’s Worthington Group trilogy. Having not read The Worthington Group books yet, I can safely say that Unmasking Dorian fully stands on its own. However, I’m more eager than ever to get to better know the Worthingtons, their spouses, and members of the club Velvet Ice after finishing Unmasking Dorian. I finished Cass and Dorian’s story supremely satisfied and almost desperate to read the stories of Dorian’s intriguing siblings, not to mention those of other Velvet Ice patrons. Joyfully Recommended!

From the blurb, I only read one of those books, and it was awhile ago, so it isn't necessary to follow the story

This one turned into a tear-jerker, but it could have been worse, because I had some problems with each of our main characters, that caused me a few problems with them

Our heroine was a wild-child, but settled down when she became a mom, problem is, she had a shot-gun wedding and he died overseas. Considering she believes things would have ended anyways, she should be happy, but she's not. She wasn't that invested, but she was in mourning for quite a while. She places her child as her reasons for hiding

Our hero uses anonymity with her, while continuing to interact with her as himself. That was creepy, I won't lie, and the first time they interact, he

Overall, those were the problems with the characters, but the story was sweet in a lot of ways, and the interactions honest. There wasn't anything that was presented that overlooked the reality of their situation. It was a build-up, and it had problems, and there was family interference

Of course, they manage to work everything out in the end, and I had worked through my issues with them by then and was truly happy everything came together for them!

i love how this plot continues from the corporate affairs series. all the characters were introduced in that series starting with marcus and carrie to merideth and tony to daniel and his partners...cassidy makes her first apoearance in carries's answer and dorian first notices cassidy at carrie's wedding to marcus. fast forward 2 years and dorian hasn't stopped flirting with her but cassidy is not interested in getting involved with someone who places his lufe on the line daily as her husband did before he was killed. cassidy starts having an online relationship with a man who is broadening her curiosities with bdsm and its none other than dorian. but of course cassidy fights him all along when she learns who her online master is.
thestory was great but the conversations between cassidy and dorian felt fake and forced at times and i didn't feel their sexual scenes were where their relationship was emotionally

More sugar than kink, Unmasking Dorian, is the perfect blend of light D/s and sweet romance. Related to the Worthington Group series, this book explores the relationship between Cassidy Lassiter and Dorian Jenner. Cassidy is a widow with a small child who works as Marcus Worthington's admin and Dorian, an undercover police officer who is posing as a contractor for Worthington's latest building project in an effort to uncover some bad guy drug dealers.

Cassidy is très skittish about getting involved with someone in a dangerous profession, especially after losing her first husband who was in the military. Dorian sneaks his way into her fantasies and then her bed in an effort to demonstrate to Cassidy that their love is worth the risk.

I've come to totally enjoy the stories Violet Summers has created around the BDSM club. She's set up a nice atmosphere, fun, real people exploring and learning and a group that gradually become part of their own stories.

The aspects and behaviors of the Dom/sub are portrayed in a way nothing like what mainstream media would have you believe. They show you the extremes and none of the necessary and stressed communication, honesty and trust and eventually, with the right couple, love.

Not every situation is right for every person. That's why you live in the USA or similar place where you have the right to choose. Even if that choice is consensual play that involves pain. Violet puts a safe and interesting flavor to the Dom/sub relationship and has interesting story lines to take you through the new gauntlet of the community.

This was a little more BDSM then I like, the whole being led on a leash into the club just to have a three-way with a guy she has never met, was a little more than I was comfortable with. But I got past that and really did enjoy Dorian's story. I've wanted to know more about him since Carrie's Answer (Worthington Group, #1) by Violet Summers .

This story didn't wow me, but it wasn't bad either. The sex scenes were pretty hot, which I did enjoy. However I had trouble buying into Cassie's level of fear, given that she didn't have particularly strong feelings for her first husband. In my opinion, neither Cassie or Dorian were interesting characters and both suffered from a lack of depth. The end was satisfying, however, which gave the book a solid 3 stars from me.

DNF @ 78%.

It started out okay. I liked the whole phone sex thing the main characters had at the beginning but as the story went on, I lost interest. It's probably because the plot isn't really new. She has issues with men in his line of work, but they can't stay away from each other, plus the sex is really really good. Like I said, it's nothing new. It wasn't an unpleasant read really, it just didn't keep my attention until the end and I really didn't feel like reading the last 20%.

i am so disappointed. it's to sweet for a plot like that. i was expecting some dirty story, and it was something completely different. if you seek for a lovely, soft, sort of a first contact with bdsm world - you may want to read it. it's not my first contact book so my expectations were completely different.
as for a book itself, it was written good - at least for my poor knowledge as english is not my primary language.

4.5 stars.
I really liked this story and loved how caring and patient the hero was. I liked the heroine too except she started to get on my nerves toward the end with her hide her head in the sand attitude. That was the only thing holding me back from giving this story 5 stars. I like a stronger heroine.
