Barbara Schroeder was born on 28 October 1946 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, USA. She worked as nurse, before she married William P. Boswell, a attorney, and they had three daughters.
She has been a longtime romance novel fan, becoming hooked on the romances by Harlequin back in the mid-‘70s when she was home with her three small daughters. When the youngest reached school age in 1983, she wanted something to do with her extra time. She thought about going back to nursing, but didn't care to deal with hospital shifts. She'd often made up stories in her head and/or continued the stories that she'd read, so it seemed like a fun idea to try to write a story of her own. It took a lot more effort and organization than the loosely strung-together scenes she'd run through her mind, but she was right about the fun part! She enjoyed the whole process and wrote a story that she knew she would enjoy reading. She sent it off and was thrilled when it was accepted! It was even more exciting to see her name on the book cover. Some 50-plus books later, it's still a thrill to see her name on the book and it's still fun to make up stories — at least most of the time!
Barbara gets her ideas from everywhere but especially from reading, which she loves to do. Sometimes, just a sentence in a newspaper or a magazine will spark an idea to develop into a romance. Other times, she'll be inspired by another romance novel and she will try to put her own spin on a favorite old plot. Barbara believes that we all have our preferences — she's always been partial to the "secret baby" story line. That, plus the "marriage of convenience" and class or family conflicts are some of her particular favorites.
Her three daughters are all grown up now, and she and her husband are the proud grandparents of a beautiful little grandson. They also have three cats who seem to think that they are the rulers of their house. They are terribly spoiled, and they just might be right.
Author's heroes are ALWAYS experienced and tells the H that they are not whores, but since they are over the legal age, it'd have been weird if they were not sexually active! Heroines are almost always virgin (or widow with ONE past partner), apparently there is nothing wrong with h's lacking sexual appetite. It's not only very normal, it is expected and then cheered by hero, as of course glorifying female virginity is absolutely normal.
The experienced vs virgin can be overlooked, but the heroes almost ALWAYS justifies their sexual pasts, and almost always consider's h's lack thereof as normal. THAT part is neither ok, nor acceptable.
I loved this book, the heroine is a young widow with three kids and the new neighbour of the new playboy hero. He tries to run her off since he wants to buy her property by inviting her to his bachelor party but ends up hiding from the party and spending more and more time with her. Honestly I find such books cute where the hero just falls for the heroine, without wanting to.
Tyler Tremaine was the vice-president of a wealthy family firm. His father had recently remarried and was after Tyler to find himself a wife. His father had an affair with Nina when he was younger. She got pregnant and they had a son but they didn't marry. She married someone else and had two daughters. His father's wife died and they resumed their affair and got married. Tyler now had a new step-brother and two step sisters as well as his own 2 brothers. Tyler wanted to by the corner lot next door to him in Washington DC. He had tried to buy it from the old owner before he died but the owner decided to leave the lot to his niece. Tyler decided to go by and offer an invitation to his annual Memorial Day picnic. He was surprised to see that his neighbor was a young woman. She was one of a set of triplets. Carrie Wilcox, Alexa and Ben were the triplets. Carrie had her own set of triplets that were 18 months old. Carrie's husband had died in a car accident before the children were born. Carrie was a nurse who worked weekends while Alexa stayed with the kids. She worked all weekend and made as much as she would working every day. This worked out better for her to spend time with the kids. Ben was infatuated with Tyler when he found out who he was. He decided that he wanted to get the Tremaine account for his advertising agency to get promoted. He told the girls to be nice to Tyler and get on his good side. Tyler was interested in Carrie. Tyler started spending a lot of time with Carrie. They kissed a few times but that had to stop because Tyler wouldn't want it to stop and Carrie kept putting him off due to the kids and because she wasn't sure about letting go of Ian's memory. Tyler tempted her and she couldn't help herself. Tyler and Carrie became good friends. Tyler grew to love the kids. He was surprised at how taken he was with all of them. He tried going out with another woman but found out that he had no interest in sleeping with her. He told Carrie and she was secretly pleased. Tyler invited her to his family's house for a 4th of July picnic. He dressed casually and so did Carrie and the kids. She was embarrassed to find out that the entire rest of his family was dressed in tuxedo's and nice clothes. She thought that Tyler had set her up. It took some convincing on his part to get her to realize that he hadn't known that it was supposed to be a formal event. He took Carrie and the kids to his beach house and they loved it. He was planning on spending the night with Carrie after bringing her home but her parents had come to town from Germany. They were planning on taking Carrie and the triplets back to Germany with them. He was in the military. Tyler found himself proposing to Carrie. It took very little convincing to prove to her that he loved her and the kids and really wanted to marry her. They agreed that they wouldn't have any more children until the triplets were closer to the age when they would be attending school. Tyler agreed to listen to a presentation from Ben regarding his ideas for commercials for his company. Ben was ecstatic.
Tyler is a great character that gave me a few good laughs due to his cluelessness. I love the feistiness of Carrie and her protectiveness of her rambunctious triplets
