Tacca GloomLily wasn’t sure how she had barely survived a sudden invasion by the mysterious and deadly six-armed, blue-skinned figures…but survive, she did. After the synergy explosion that destroyed her Core, the Dungeon Fairy-turned-Dungeon Core needs to rebuild everything from the ground up. Thankfully, with no nearby Raider presence, she’ll not only be able to reconstruct her original dungeon section, but she’ll also be able to finish the new section she had been working on when she had been so rudely interrupted.
The attack by the mysterious people inside Tacca’s dungeon was only the beginning of a coordinated invasion plan, however. As the only Core to survive an assault, along with her Dungeon Assistant, Shale, the former Dungeon Fairy is able to pass on what little she knows to anyone who will listen, warning them of the danger.
But will it be enough? Can Tacca continue to operate her dungeon with such a dangerous enemy on the horizon?
Now on her figurative third life, this challenge might be the only chance she has to prove that luck isn’t the only driving force in the world….
This story contains Dungeon Core elements such as dungeon construction and defense, LitRPG/GameLit mechanics such as character progression and stats, and contains NO harems/sexual content or profanity.
This dungeon core LitRPG was fairly consistent in quality with the first two books in the series. It is pretty average in terms of quality. A fun story but it has too many dull spots to be anything better than just OK.
This third book was a continuation of what we got in the previous books with Tacca continuing to grow her dungeon and power but we did learn a bit more about who was behind the destruction of the cores that had been plaguing the land.
The plot is fine and the characters, while nothing special, are mostly easy to root for. The thing that holds this series back is the lacklustre worldbuilding, the boring dungeon building segments, and most of all those long stat readouts that mean absolutely nothing and which regular readers likely just skim but which drag on forever in audio!
I’ll read the 4th and final book but only because I got the whole series as a box set.
Rating: 3 stars.
Audio Note: Miles Meili did a good job with the audio.
Mistakes: First I want to say, recaps are awesome! Run on sentences are not. I found six places where I think small changes will enhance the story. They are listed on Goodreads.
Plot: Time to grow and learn more about the many armed invaders.
Characters: Fun group of characters.
5/10 Just needs to be tweaked a bit in my opinion.
Tacca Gloomlilly has known, since her schooling at DAPS, that Dungeons and Raiders have had a symbiotic relationship for thousands of years. For thousands of years that has worked well for the Dungeons, the Raiders, and the peoples of Gairth, but an external force poses a threat to Gairth and the competitive symbiosis between Dungeons and Raiders must change to meet it. Unfortunately, Tacca has the task of shepherding that change; whether she's ready for it, or not.
Takka saves the day again in book 3. Still recovering from the near devastation at the end of book 2 leaves Tacca GloomLily rebuilding her dungeon yet again.
The six armed, blue skinned aliens are back and hunting down all of the dungeons of Gairth. Tacca hosts the cores of a number of Dungeons in their targeted in her mountain, as well as thousands of raiders trying to stay warm in the harsh winter of their world. It's a recipe for disaster as the aliens come after them.
Tacca is back! After defeating the big bad she’s changed and grown by leaps and bounds. Now epic war nears and her jinx may actually be the world’s salvation as the older brothers of the last big bad show up. It’s a story with a great pace and wonderful telling. It adds well to the world and made me sad it was over. Please enjoy.
Never, ever, thought I'd read a book about fairys. Or dungeons for that matter. But these are good reading! They have characters I care about and good action, what more does a story need? It can be set in a dungeon, the plains after the unCivil War or in a galaxy far far away. It's the characters that are important.
Takka the day again. i love this series. this is not my normal read. but oh so rewarding of a read. these invaders are a deadly obstacle that need to be dealt with. and Takka is doing her best with success. w wit h her special abilities and her ability to connect with others. glad she gets her body back in a way.
This story of a bad luck fairy becoming a dungeon core was a very interesting entertaining fast paced action packed series that I really enjoyed reading. Can’t wait for the next books to four of this wonderful wordsmith stories.
Looking forward to seeing what dungeon rules and standards are going to be broken in book 4! Heres to hoping tacca and company being able to translocate to the battlefield!!!
Lo que mas me la bajo es lo gringo de los otros cores. No pueden mas de los estereotipos flojos, pero bueno con la cantidad de letras que escribe este hombre medio que es esperable. Veremos como sigue.
Great addition to a great series. I really enjoyed the progress that Tacca experienced in this book. There was more dungeon building in this book than the previous books in the series. There was also a good deal of dungeon diving. Everything you could want from a dungeon core book!
Rated five stars same as I rated the previous two books in the series. This is just a fun read it's Infinity it's engaging it's damn hard to put down and I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think anybody else that takes the time to read it will also.
3.5/5 Most of the story continues to drag, and postpones most world building. It ends very well though, just like the previous books. Kind of unusual to review books that are mediocre in the meat text and great in the climaxes. It is usually the other way around.
This is a rare series that gets better as it progresses. I am eagerly awaiting the next and final book, though I am sad I will not get to hear about more of this world.
The introduction of ... other worldly creatures just makes the mystery of this world even more interesting. I just hope the last book answers all the questions I have after this book.
Tacca is hilarious! The bad guys are very well "armed" hehe loved the 3rd addition as much as the previous 2. very engaging and speed read through this in record time.
