This is a lengthy book that doesn’t leave many stones unturned. Nathan Schachner writes in a smooth, calm style and has created a fair and mostly unbiased treatment of Jefferson’s life. I enjoyed reading this book, even if it was a bit long to endure through, and felt that I learned a lot about Jefferson, his public and private life, as well as about the time and culture that he lived in.
I feel like the author was just showing off. Keep a dictionary handy, and be ready to reread sentences that are deviously crafted. Also, best TJ bio I've read.
