Tutus

Cro-Magnon ballerinas were
No dainty twirling prancers.
They stomped and clomped and growled , Grrrrr!
Good grief! What dreadful dancers!

Adorable!! What child does not like dinosaurs and these dinos are very silly. The paleontologists and cavemen are too! Great vocabulary words, cool alliterations, it is a one of a kind book. The pictures are great, fanciful, delightful. Weinstock is quite the artist. I will search for his books to read to children.

Teddy Bones

No pajamas. No fuzzy bear.
No cozy sheets. It's just not fair!
My blankets itch. My pillow's stone.
I snuggle with a teddy bone.

My bed's a cave- leaky and lumpy.
I'm prehistoric, mean, and grumpy.
Each day I wake up tired and stiff
And cold and ill-behaved. What if

One night I got tucked in like you?
How snug. Next time you whine,
"BOO-HOOOOOO!
Nuh-uh! It isn't time for bed!"
I'll happily sleep there instead.

This humorous anthology celebrates prehistoric topics like dinosaurs, cavemen, and archaelogical digs. While the concept is better than the execution, this book will appeal to kids who may avoid poetry books.

This is a really fun collection that would integrate well with a science/history lesson. Poems are entertaining and teach about coprolite (dinosaur poo), neanderthals, and prehistoric peoples and creatures. Grades 2-5

Wonderfully clever, funny poems. These would be great as read alouds. Word play, rhythm, and illustrations were top-notch. I loved it!

Great book of dinosaur poems for poetry month or dinosaur study. These poems are funny and short for the smallest of children. Definitely added this one to your list.
