There is no one else quite like Alex. With his special laugh, his grizzly hugs, and his own interesting thoughts, Alex is one of a kind. Presenting similarities and differences Alex has with others, Marvelous Me, by Lisa Bullard, will encourage children to embrace the things that make them unique. Playful illustrations and fun activities make this book a great addition to home and classroom libraries.

I wanted to love this book as theoretically it’s about things that are really important like self esteem, but it felt uninspired and unoriginal there were no subtle nuances and the language felt like a child’s version of a self help book. There was very little beauty in the way things were said. The illustrations were very graphic design / word art. The only redeeming factor was the introduction of a twin which I can see being helpful to twins who want to see more representation in their books.
This book is about a boy named Alex that has very unique qualities that make him stand out and different from others. In the story we get to see how being unique can make you marvelous in your own way.
This book can be used to teach students about how to be comfortable with their own characteristics and to embrace being different. It also shows how being different can be celebrated and viewed in a positive light.
Nice picture book about twin boys. Teaches about self-esteem and being proud of what you can do. It talks about emotions and that it is okay to having good and bad feelings. There are end notes that have extension crafts and activities for children to do (i.e. making a book of things you enjoy, etc)
This book pointed out ways the main character was special. Throughout the book we then found out he has a twin, and all the illustrations made minor details on there differences. Which i though was very interesting!
The narrator shares all the ways he is amazing and, by translation, all the ways each child is marvelous. The message is encouraging to young readers and their families.
