Organic Synthesis: The Roles of Boron and Silicon
Compounds of boron and silicon play a vital role in organic synthesis and the study of their properties and reactions is an important feature of undergraduate courses in organic chemistry. As part of the new, user-friendly Oxford Chemistry Primer Series, the essential chemistry of organoboranes and organosilanes is presented here with clarity and simplicity, emphasizing how these compounds can be used to provide simple solutions to a range of synthetic problems. With helpful study questions at the end of each part, and many suggestions for more advanced reading, this concise text provides undergraduates with an invaluable summary of an important topic in synthetic organic chemistry.

A good, if slow starting book, detailing the basics of Boron and Silicon Chemistry. The second half of the book is far better than the first, seeming to contain more interesting Chemistry, with less of an arbritary focus on asymmetric, enantiopure synthetic processes which seem unnecessary, if ultimately interesting, when discussing the basics of Boron Chemistry.
