Everything you need to know about how to best raise, educate and guide Generation Alpha (born 2010-24) - the most materially endowed and technologically literate generation ever - to help them live their best life.
Renowned social demographer Mark McCrindle shares everything we need to know about Generation Alpha in this accessible, fascinating book for parents and educators on how the most globally connected generation ever (born 2010-2024) will grow up, how we should parent them, what we should teach them and what we need to be aware of to ensure that we get the best out of them.
Discussing the impacts of the recent Coronavirus pandemic as an educational, world health and economic crisis with a unique set of problems presented to this first-ever remote-learning generation, Mark will help parents understand how complex the life experiences of today's children truly are. From looking at digital anxieties around social media to the unprecedented rise of environmental and social consciousness at a young age, Mark McCrindle will help parents and teachers to create the best possible framework for a child's development right the way through into adulthood.
I have just finished my fourth book of the year and I must say that it has thoroughly blown me away! If you work with children or young teens, this book is an absolute necessity. It offers a comprehensive and thorough glimpse into the world of our current generation as they transition from childhood to adolescence. Whether you're a parent, educator, or simply someone who cares about the future generations, this read will provide valuable knowledge on how best support them during these crucial periods. This book stands out head-and shoulders above rest due its sheer depth without sacrificing any clarity whatsoever; making difficult concepts easy digestible even non experts can grasp easily.
“They are more digital, global, mobile, social, and visual than any generation before them.”-p.328
We need this book to start thinking how to best lead them and love them into their inheritance as the largest generation to ever exist.

4.5 - Excellent introduction to the newest generation, still being born until 2024. While much is speculation, it is helpful to see how technology, education, consumerism, etc is trending and how this generation might shape these and be shaped by them. While written by Australian researchers, there is much food for thought for those of us in the US.
This resource would be most valuable to someone who is just getting started with generational theory. The book has some basic information on Gen Alpha, but I did not run across any particularly valuable insights. I felt it had much more "fluff" than was helpful and that it certainly did not need to be 358 pages long.
This book did a wonderful job of highlighting both the challenges and the strengths of this generation. I found it informative and it will definitely help form the way I interact with this generation.
A lot of hypothetical of course but that is expected. Also though, it was specialized in Australia, not the entire generation. That is alright since it is a global world but not great yet.
Read for APCE book club for June. Plenty of information and topics to discuss. Some ideas unique to Australia and others that are unique to United States that were not discussed.
