Why Does the Moon Change Shape? is one of the “Tell Me Why Tell Me How” non-fiction science book collection written by the talented Melissa Stewart. Each book is loaded with gorgeous photography, intriguing facts, and questions sprinkled along the way to challenge readers about what they just read. This one also has an easy long term scientific activity in the afterward encouraging a nightly sketching of the moon, a list of books and websites for further research, and a glossary of definitions for all the vocabulary that was boldly printed throughout the book. This series is perfect for elementary age students to learn more about difference aspects of science, or for just a fun read.

This was another NASA summer school book. I used it for a few lessons on the phases of the moon. This book did a great job at making that concept accessible. It was a hit with me and my students.
