Wow. I have become more careful about avoiding stories that include torture and deep suffering, but I knew that I needed to know what happened in Tabat. And I'm glad I continued on. This third volume is entirely stunning, seeping with the melancholy and anger of these days, and the romance that burns unsated in our souls, and the power we will find in all of that, ourselves. Rambo wrote lightning onto paper.

Really a 3.5 - still the beautifully created world I've loved from the previous two books, but the pacing is a little slow until the very end. The introductions of the Dragons and of Scylla and her Mer people were highlights, as they drew Bella somewhat out of her lengthy self-recrimination. Looking forward to an amazing final volume and return to Tabat!
