Compared to other misguiding books, this instead not only gives you strong information of the roots but also warns against using this spells for nefarious purposes as it says what you do good or bad come back to you not once but three times as. And it explains to you properly all that you need with detailed explanations of the waxing and waning cycles of the moon and those spells that align only with the elements of nature.

And i love how all the spells end with:

"And let it be so done, that it harm no one."

This book makes you respect Wiccan tradition for what it is rather than make you become fearful of it for what books other than white magick make you think. To clarify, anything which causes even minor harm to other person, it is not Wiccan.

The spells have a solid foundation in folkloric tradition. While I found the "history" of African witchcraft sensationalist and offensive, my first role is as a practitioner- and while this is couched in some of the overwrought ethical limitations of Wicca in the aughts (or oughts if you will) it takes a step forward by acknowledging some people using magic aren't perfectly nice and innocent. It is a refreshing change from what was typical circa 2003.

I found the book very interesting and there is a lot of great information coupled with a beautiful layout. However, I would like to mention that there seems to be an error on page 47 regarding the moon phases being the wrong way around (the waning crescent being labeled as the waxing crescent and vice versa). This is the reason for a slightly lower rating. Other than that it was a very lovely book and will definitely be staying on my bookshelf for me to come back to and read again.
