Rate this book
They were six average teenagers . . . until Sombra C. Schools are closed. Thousands of sick people are locked in confinement points to die. Vigilante soldiers are pacing the streets. A mutation of a common cold virus has resulted in the deadly Sombra C illness, which is spreading through the world like wildfire. Highly contagious, it transforms its victims in the weeks before death into violent, zombie-like creatures. Zaley Mattazollo and her friends are thrilled when the anti-viral medication Zyllevir is proven to freeze the infection in its tracks. Finally their lives can go back to normal . . . except they don’t. Riots and bombings and assassinations, zombies and Shepherd soldiers running the civil unrest stirred up by Sombra C unravels their world more and more by the day. And then an attack upon their holiday party changes their lives forever.

This book was awful!

I just wanted to read about zombies ripping people apart, regular people trying to survive, and some zombies getting taken out as people are trying to take shelter and fighting for their lives.

Instead, we get political garbage about people who are partially infected being ostracized from society, a girl who has two moms and her rebelling against the horrible system that is high school, and her vigilante justice against a guy by gluing rubber phalluses to his locker during the school year because I guess he said something about her moms, a guy who likes his dog better than his so-called "girlfriend," and a club at a high school where people can come and just hang out.

You wanted some zombies in this book? Sorry, but they don't show up until 77% of the way through thes book. By the time they got here, I honestly didn't care anymore, I had had enough and was done with this book. I just skimmed to the end and sighed for the lost time I spent reading this book. You'd think that a book with the word, "Zombies," in the title, would... you know... have some zombies in it!

Don't waste your time.

Awesome book

a great read. This is a totally different slant in the zombie genre. The focus on a number of high school kids with great backstories. Zombies are just in the background. enjoy!

This was a great story. Sure, I was expecting zombies and what I got was a disease that wasn't really in the story, just more of a detail. And yet, the characters were amazing. I wanted them to be my friends.

I ended up caring about all of them and it was a struggle to see them hurting in different ways. I hope things get better for them.

Scary

I guess this is more the picture I have of what it would truly look like. It feels more terrifying due to the realistic quality of the story line. Enjoy !

Drawn Out Development While I enjoyed this a great deal, the character development seemed to drag on just a little bit too long before getting to the meat and potatoes of the actual story.

I actually really enjoyed this book a lot. It was easy to read and very easy to sympathise with the characters.
