I loved the cover. It was intriguing and well designed and I couldn't wait to crack it open.
Other than that it was disappointing. The point was to illustrate the different names for baby animals, like calf, pub, kitten owlet, etc. The art was really well designed, showing various environments with the animals as silhouettes. It would make fabulous wallpaper.
Each page had a baby asking a mom how much they loved them, and the answer was something along the line of 'more than the ..est x" and it went with the theme of the page. 'tallest tree' 'deepest sea' etc.
I thought it was boring.
I also felt gipped because its a massive book but the last page is a half inch piece of styrofoam. Then I figured out that's because it has a battery operated light to light up the moon. It looks cool. But, doesn't make up for the lack of something in the words to engage with.
Holy hell! This book lights up. Yes freaking lights up. When my boys picked it from the library they liked the rectangular shape of this board book and the sweet message. Low and behold the baby playing around figures out there is a button on the front cover. A button when pressed lights up the big moon on the cover with the cute bunnies cuddling. Well they must have pressed that button a trillion times. They loved it. Also a plus the light turns off by its self after so many minutes. Very quick story but one my son loved reading to me.
I really like this book. It provides the innocence of child ignorance and their instinctual need for love, acceptance, and care to survive... even and especially when a parent doesn’t want to provide, care, love, or accept a child. Disabled.
The first book I ever added to my son's collection, before he was born. He loves it as much as I do. The illustrations are beautiful and the light-up moon is a hit with him. One of our very favourites.
