The writing in this travel guide is actually quite good; it's often very funny. The history/culture/food/environmental sections were very informative. Especially the history section; Florida has gone through some crazy times! I appreciated the lists of Floridan books and movies I could follow up on to pregame my vacation.
One part I didn't particularly enjoy was the blasé treatment of Confederate flags. The history section takes racism quite seriously, but the rest of the guide play them off as kitschy and cute.

Another fantastic Lonely Planet guide, which kept me company on my trip to Miami. The information included is, as ever, in depth, and the pull-out map of Miami and its transport system was incredibly useful.
