This book was well organized and well written . Amy Revell has a passion for organizing and it comes through in her book. Nothing makes her happier than to organize a mess! Wow, I didn't get that gift so her book is helpful to me.
The four stars are because so much is geared for families with young children (and all of their paraphernalia). I'm not at that stage in life so it wasn't relevant to me but I think someone with children at home would find it useful.
I listened to the audiobook which is read by Ms. Revell. I really enjoyed her Australian accent!
This was a hard book for me to rate. On the one hand, it seemed to have good advice for decluttering and organizing. On the other hand, it seemed to have good advice for people who live very different lives than I do. I don't mean that I have a more disordered home (although it's a hot mess), or that I have a physical or mental health condition that adds a barrier to dealing with it. It's just advice for circumstances that I'm not in.
A large chunk of the book is about corralling children's toys, and the artwork they bring home from school, and all the other mess that kids spontaneously generate, but I don't have kids. Another section was about organizing sports and yard care equipment in a garage or shed. I have none of those things. I also don't have a laundry room to organize.
Ironically, the parts of the book that could apply to me (paperwork and clothes) are the only aspects of my home that I do have under control.
So, like I said, probably a good and helpful book, just for people in different circumstances than I'm in.
I listen to Amy and Kirsty's podcast, "The Art of Decluttering". I was keen to read Amy's book, and I wasn't disappointed. It is easy to read (just like listening to her on the podcast - I could hear her voice as I read!) Filled with practical tips and expert advice, I recommend this book to any frazzled mum trying to maintain order in her home!
