336 books77 followersRobyn received a book from her big sister and immediately fell in love with Cinderella. Sprinklings of magic, deepest wishes come true - she was hooked! Picture books with glass slippers later gave way to romance novels. When she was older, she wanted to write one.
However, in junior high, Robyn hit a stumbling block - a disheartening grade of one out of ten for a book review. Confused and hurt, she asked her hundred-and-thirty-year-old English teacher why the low mark? The wizened schoolmarm sniffed, "You obviously had a senior do it for you." Thankfully Robyn's business teacher was a honey.
Following a fifteen-year career behind the scenes in television, Robyn knew the time was right to pursue her dream of becoming a published author. Late in 2004, she received a phone call from a London editor. She'd submitted a manuscript to the Sweet line, which were featuring lighter, sexier stories to be released under the Tango banner. The editor was very interested in her story, but for a brand new line.
Robyn didn't stop smiling for a week, but sometime later learned her revised manuscript hadn't hit the mark. Then she received another call and another request for revisions to a second manuscript! That didn't sell either. On a third manuscript she received a very long, very detail email, asking for, what would turn out to be, a complete rewrite. Having torn out most of her hair, but with 13 contest finals in 2006 (including winning the Golden Pen and Where the Magic Begins), she finished the rewrite then contacted a New York agent. That wonderful agent took her on, and Robyn sold in a matter of weeks, first to Silhouette Desire, then Modern Heat (Sexy Sensation/Presents) with a two book deal! She is currently writing manuscript number fourteen.
Robyn lives with her own modern-day hero on Australia's Sunshine Coast with their three little princesses, as well as two poodles and a cat called Tinkie. She has majors in English literature and psychology, and loves new shoes, worn jeans, visits to the theatre and lunches at picturesque Moffat Beach with her writer friends.

Warning: The hero is an alpha jerk. Not an alpha jerk in the HP style where, while aggravating, he's hot and hunky. This one is just a bossy jackass. From telling her they will marry, announcing her pregnancy to the ex that ditched him for a suspicion of sterility, dictating if she should fly or not to a friend's wedding, making her stay downstairs so she won't fall, telling her to quit her job, he's about five minutes away from telling her she's fat and can't have chocolate. Quelle horror!
If it wasn't enough for Robyn to saddle her with the surname Gruebella, the poor h has a couple of pretty crappy friends, one of whom begrudges the ditched heroine from catching the bouquet at a wedding then flirts with the H much later. With friends like these....
The sexual chemistry between the H and h is off the charts so at least they have that. Of course, that's what got them here with a "love child" in the first place.

Ok. So the last book I read, Pleasure, Pregnancy And A Proposition, was actually the second book in the One Night Baby series. Who knew? So, since I'm bored silly after class, and can't even begin to look at my textbooks again until tomorrow, I have downloaded THE OTHER TWO BOOKS in the series.
I'm sick. I know. It's sad 'cause I REALLY want to start Lust, but I think I'll save that for the plane ride back home. :-)
29-Jun-11 Six days later, and I am starting this book. I took a little detour at the library on account of some much needed housework.
This proved a very fast, sexy, fun read. Even though I was a tad pissy the last time I read a marriage for the sake of the baby book, I am not feeling pissy about this book.
This heroine was no doormat and REFUSED to marry, REFUSED to be bullied-although she was seduced a few times-REFUSED to become a divorce statistic in the making, and held her own! She totally rocked for an HP heroine.
He, of course, was sexy, rich, and charming as Hades. No surprises there. There was a the slip about becoming a "grandfather" before his time which I thought might mean something more than it did, but that's just my devious mind at work.
Cute story, mostly likeable characters except for that nasty piece of work so-called friend of Sophie's.
I was disappointed there was no Epilogue and we didn't even get to know the sex of the baby. How depressing! Maybe it's in another book in the series.

This was a good read. Nothing new here, A one-night stand then pregnancy kind of book. But it's beautifully written. As usual RG s heroine is likeable, Sophie is no push-over, she is assertive & has backbones. Cooper s "I know best, people need to listen " attitude really grated on my nerves. He is, arrogant, domineering, always taking decisions & putting rules. but he redeemed himself when he apologized & admitted he was in the wrong.

I enjoyed this. I liked the characters and the premise and the way it resolved. I liked the lack of cruelty.

The premise had potential, a one night stand turns into a trial relationship when she falls pregnant, plus Sophie had a preexisting connection with the teenage sister Cooper’s raising, but this just never felt like it explored the characters, their attraction, or their situation thoroughly enough.
Cooper, is a divorce lawyer, so he’s decided to save himself the kind of pain his clients have endured, he’ll adhere to a strict list of the qualities he wants in a wife, such as his wife cannot be argumentative. First, wanting a docile, dutiful wife added to my difficulty in finding this guy attractive. Second, this leaned too heavily into the argumentative thing to the point where it felt as though Cooper and Sophie didn’t really even like each other outside of bed, and for me, like is such a crucial component when it comes to buying into happily ever after. Third, the arguments weren’t even as compelling as they maybe could have been as rarely did this delve into why either of them took the stances they took.
That was one of my biggest issues here, hardly gleaning any information about what makes Sophie and Cooper tick. The pair share so few conversations about anything emotional or personal that by the end of the book it felt like they still hadn’t gotten to know each other well enough, and I didn’t feel like I knew them beyond mostly surface stuff either.
What I did know about Cooper, I often struggled with, for instance, the constant sexual innuendo from him even though Sophie repeatedly requested time before resuming their physical relationship. Also, at one point, Cooper’s thinking that a lock on the door won’t keep him out of her room; he doesn’t act on this thought, and I’m sure the author just meant to convey his strong, persistant attraction to her, not portray him as a creeper, but unfortunately that’s where my mind went. Also not helping this guy’s cause in my mind, his archaic and controlling attitude toward Sophie and his sister. It’s never even really explained where his mindset stems from since as mentioned, we’re told so little about who these characters are and what shaped them, almost nothing of his past. Then his road to figuring out where things went wrong was too brief, and again, too surface level to truly redeem or elevate him in my eyes.
Alpha guys with their narrow minds and domineering style do still appeal to plenty of readers, if that’s your sensibility, that aspect of this book might be worth a try, but this just wasn’t the best fit for me.

I didn't like it. Their connection wasn't all that strong, they only ended up together because she was pregnant. When she reappeared in his life he was preparing to tell her no to starting anything again (although he was very attracted to her), because she didn't meet the criteria of wife on his list, only changed he mind because of the baby.
Mmc was so overbearing and wasn't considerate of the fmc in the little things considering she was pregnant, like right after he learned she was pregnant and they went to lunch. She wanted to eat inside and he wanted to eat outside all while she was shivering and wrapping her cardigan tight around herself. He was considerate of her getting hurt doing mundane things though like going upstairs, because of the baby. However he ignored with things to do with fmc comforts, wants or needs.
She had to be strong willed to get her own way, but the constant bickering was a bit annoying. They always did or thought the opposite of each other. They got along well off page during time jumps. P.
** The interaction with the mmc's ex girlfriend was weird, she was very pregnant and apparently was trying for a year or two to get pregnant with his baby without him knowing. Then she got pregnant just a week after breaking up with him, she said she was having twins and that he should meet her fiance who was around there somewhere. He very well could have been the father with that timeline, but he didn't pursue the thought or maybe she was pregnant with his kids.

July 27, 2011Sophie wants to marry for love. Cooper wants a woman who fulfills his list and mainly doesn't argue. Sophie has an issue with that, and they tend to argue about a lot of things. Cooper learns that some things are better without a list.
