Arlena and Penelope are getting ready to head up to Vermont where Arlena will have the starring role in a biopic based on the life of Tennis Legend Helen Wills. Ms. Wills was one of the first celebrity athletic stars of her generation which was in the late 1800s through the 1940's. This is a role of a lifetime for Arlena because of the famous Truegood brothers who have not only written the film but will also be producing and directing it as well. Penny and Arlena are in Glendale having brunch waiting to meet up with one of Penny's oldest friends Nadia who just happens to be a current Tennis star who has agreed to help coach Arlena and add support on the technical side of the game. When Nadia arrives at the café they are just finishing up with introductions when the café is robbed. The trio of friends are all seated outside, and Penny gets a good look at one of the robbers. They are shaken up by the violent occurrence that is out of place for Glendale. Joey, Penny’s boyfriend who is also an investigator with the Glendale police department comes over later that evening to deliver some property that was recovered, and Penny tells him what she witnessed. The show must go on, as they say, so off they go headed for bucolic Vermont hoping to leave all this bad business behind them. Penny's catering company is growing fast. She has hired a new chef, Tama and this will be the first time they will be working together so Penny’s excited to be on this trip. She felt a connection with Tama and hopes she made the right decision in hiring her. Once they make the long drive up to Vermont, her caravan of trucks is greeted by one of the Truegood brothers. These guys are eccentric to the extreme!!! How is she expected to run her catering business with all these rules, to make matters worse they are in the middle of a dead zone and the nearest town is a 30-mile drive away. They feel like they have been dropped into a time warp, Penny’s about had it with these two nuts, but she perseveres for the sake of her good friend Arlena. The only thing keeping Penny sane is her infrequent chats with Joey, who is waiting for her back home. Their relationship is growing as fast as her catering company. The awful robbery in Glendale that is still close in their minds plus odd happenings in Vermont keeps Penny on her toes. Jeremiah Truegood is the oddest of all, just what is it with this old guy? This was a super-fast read, it held my interest and with all the other sideline plots going on it's another win, win for Ms. Simmons. I love the spunky Penny that's for sure, she's really grown with this series, I can’t wait to see what’s next in store for her. I absolutely love this series! It has your mystery, a little romance, and . . . behind the scenes looks at filming and catering. I just find the two latter parts so interesting. I like when there is a little something else within a mystery. Penelope is one of my favorites!!!
The crew is going to the country in this latest adventure. And I mean country. No cell service, walking a lot and Penelope has to get involved with the town's folks to get the supplies that she needs. Little does she know that there is a family feud going on amidst everything else she has to deal with. She also has concerns about a old school friend who is now a tennis pro.
While this wasn't my favorite in the series, it was still pretty enjoyable. I do have to say that this is my favorite cover in the series though.
Thanks to Henery Press and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
I've read this series from book one and it just keeps getting better. I love "being on the road" with Penny and the crew as they travel to each new movie venue. The characters are very likeable and appear realistic. While this is a series, readers can certainly jump in at any book and feel at home. I can't wait to see what's next in this terrific series.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
The book opens with an incredibly cheesy James Bond-style scene – my heart sank. But fortunately, I read on, and the story got a whole lot better. This is the fifth Red Carpet Catering mystery, the first that I have read, and I doubt it will be the last. It is a well-written and well-paced ‘cosy’ mystery, that keeps you guessing for much of the story. It is not until you are close to the end that you – and Penelope (the main character) – fully understand what has been going on. The story proper begins with a robbery at a café owned by one of Penelope’s friends, Sonya. Penelope, and two of her other friends – Arlena and Nadia – are caught up in the traumatic attack, with Nadia being injured. Penelope notices a suspicious looking man observing them before and during the attack. Afterwards, a number of items that the thieves appear to have missed, disappear from the police cordon, and another café is targeted. Later, far away, in another state, at the film set, Penelope has to deal with: a new-age Director, who insists that all the catering be done on a ‘green’ plastic-free basis, and who likes invading her personal space; a new member of the catering team; a possible family feud; more sightings of the suspicious man; and listening bugs in the accommodation. To make things more difficult, the film set is in a mobile phone and wifi free area, so contact with the outside world – and particularly with Penelope’s cop boyfriend – is limited. Is there any connection between all the unusual activity? Will there be a murder? Another attack? Who is/will be the victim? Being a ‘cosy’ mystery, everything is resolved in the end – but the resolution(s) may not be what you expect. The book keeps you engaged throughout, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery. I received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
Penelope heads out to Vermont for her latest catering job, she hopes to be glad of the peace and quiet having witnessed a violent attack a few days before. Peace and quiet is not wholly on the menu though, when she and her team arrive they discover that everything has to be done Eco style (and preferably with a menu sourced from the 1950's!), however this difficulty pales into insignificance when the tennis coach for the team (also an old school friend of Penelope) is attacked and Penelope needs to put her Deerstalker on as well as her Chef's hat!
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and Henery Press for free in exchange for an honest review. Penelope "Penny" Sutherland owns Red Carpet Catering, a catering company that specializes in catering for film sets. Penny is about to start a new job in Vermont when she and two friends are witnesses to a violent robbery. She hopes that the remote set location will help her forget what she saw that day, unfortunately trouble has followed her to the set - an apparent stalker of her friend Nadia, a consultant for the film. Penny has to manage a complicated set of catering rules, her small but dedicated crew, and figure out who is threatening her friend Nadia, so he can be stopped before she is seriously injured. I really enjoyed Murder on the Rocks. The characters and mystery were engaging. I want to read the rest of the series.
“Murder on the Rocks” earns 5/5 Felonious Film Sets…Murderously Fun!
This fifth book, “Murder on the Rocks,” in Shawn Reilly Simmons’s Red Carpet Catering Mystery series has made this newbie a very eager fan. This page-turner grabbed me right off with an action-packed movie scene, then a real-life traumatic robbery and lots of mayhem on the set of Arlena Madison’s new movie…any connections? Penny Sutherland’s Red Carpet Catering heads up to an out-of-the-way, cell phone/Wifi ”black hole” location in Vermont to support the cast and crew of BFF Arlena’s new biopic, but “peace and quiet” will not be served up. The well-known, yet eccentric, producers/directors Truegood brothers make demands Penny finds stressful to accommodate, panic attacks prove disturbing, a possible stalker suspiciously appears, and the “accidents” that plague the set put everyone on edge…what else, murder? A well-written mystery with twist, turns, more than a few nail-biting predicaments, and a very satisfying solution, Simmons also provides a look behind the scenes of a movie production, a new chef joining the catering business, an evolving romance between Penny and Joey, and the luscious Vermont environment. However, she doesn't rely on the narrative or stereotypes by penning dialogue to cleverly illustrate the personalities and emotions of a rich group of characters. In this five-book series, many events have happened, and like real life, the characters have grown and relationships strengthened. But enough background (no spoilers) and character connections are revisited to make it easy for newbies to join in. I highly recommend this book, and fans will agree start here, but don't forget the other books that will offer an understanding of how we all got here from there.
“Disclosure: I received an advanced copy from NetGalley. This review is voluntary and my opinion and insights are honest.
Penelope and her friends are enjoying a nice brunch at a local cafe, when the restaurant is robbed. The women are okay physically, but very shaken after the attack. A series of events follows, and it seems someone is targeting Penelope's friend Nadia, a tennis pro serving as consultant on the film Penelope is catering. With several strange events occurring, Penelope seeks to learn which events are connected and who is behind them.
The 5th book in the A Red Carpet Catering Mystery series, but the first one I have read. I enjoy cozy mysteries, and found this to be an entertaining, light read.
This book packed a lot of mystery. There were two main mysteries, who attacked the cafe and who was after Nadia. Plus, there were a couple of smaller mysteries, theft in the local police department and the filmmaker's family feud. I thought it was a bit much, and could have done with a little less mystery.
I received a copy of this book from Henery Press and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Murder on the Rocks by Shawn Reilly Simmons is the 5th book in A Red Carpet Catering Mystery Series, and another great addition. Penelope Sutherland is a personal cook for movie star Arlena, who is also her best friend. Penelope also owns her own catering company, where she provides food on movie sets. Before they leave for Vermont to cater Arlena's next movie, they witness a brutal robbery at a restaurant they are eating at. Penelope's boyfriend Joey is the detective in charge of robbery after one women dies. Between the cafe robberies and the accidents on set, Penelope is determined to find the truth. I strongly recommend this book, and every book in this series. This book is a quick read, that I could not put down. I am anxiously waiting the next adventure for Penelope and crew.
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book had me from the beginning. From the time that Penny and Arlena have brunch at Sonya's this book had me. I love all of the wonderful descriptions of the food, of the area where they are filming, of the people. It really makes me feel like I am in the story. This story takes place on location in Vermont and I loved that it was a cellular dead zone. No cell phones, no Wi-Fi, in one way it sounded like a real escape, but also difficult when you need help and there is no phone available. Each book in this series has it's own type of setting and I enjoy seeing the challenges of each, especially when a criminal act is involved. This is a wonderful series that gets better with each book. I'm looking forward to reading what happens next, especially with Penny and Joey!
Thank you to Henery Press and NetGalley for this e-book. This did not influence my review in any way.
Murder on the Rocks by author Shawn Reilly Simmons is a cozy mystery which starts out with an interesting scene in which Arlena is performing in a screen test for a Jack Sloan film. The next day Penelope and Arlena see drama for real when they meet for brunch at Sonya's Cafe. Soon after Penelope's friend Nadia arrives, the cafe is the scene of a horrible violent attack for robbery by two local hockey players. Some of the customers are injured, people are robbed, and hours later Sonya is dead. This sets the serious tone for the book as Penelope, Arlena, and Nadia are soon off to Vermont for the filming of a movie called Grand Slam. Nadia will be a consultant for Arlena on the set. Penelope will have some mysteries to solve as Nadia becomes a target during s series of accidents. What is going on? Is there a connection between the attack at the cafe and Nadia's accidents? I wont' post spoilers, but it will hook you and keep you reading!
After a harrowing experience at her local cafe, Penelope is glad to be leaving for Vermont and catering the filming of her friend, Arlena's new movie. A movie about a legendary tennis star, and her friend Nadia is the tennis consultant.
What she wasn't expecting was no internet or cell service and a mile long list of things the directors don't want. Everything is to be eco-friendly and locally sourced, but the local source is related to the directors and they are not a close family!
With what looks like a family feud building, a whole lot of quirky characters quickly begin to look like suspects, when Nadia is attacked.
This is an easy to read Cozy. I enjoyed the characters very much and they continue to develop and come to life on the page.
Light fast-paced story with interesting insights into movie locations. Penelope and her friends are victims of a vicious robbery while out for a brunch. Trouble follows them to a remote Vermont movie location where dead zones, strict environmental restrictions and strange family dynamics make life difficult for Penelope and her crew. The details of life on a movie set add so much to the story.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
When Penelope Sutherland and her actress friend Arlena decide to have a quiet breakfast at a favorite outdoor cafe, they are joined by Penelope's friend Nadia, a tennis star. Nadia is going to be a consultant on a new film Arlena is doing, and they think this is the perfect opportunity for the two to get to know each other. But while everything at first seems to be fine, Penelope notices someone watching them from across the street. And then suddenly things turn violent - a couple of teenagers in hockey gear start attacking the customers, in an obvious attempt to rob them. Shaken by the attack and the fact that while she and Arlena are safe, Nadia has been slightly injured, and a friend is dead.
But there's no time to dwell on it - they need to be in Vermont to start filming. When Penelope arrives, she's not expecting what's to come: the director Jeremiah (and owner of the place where they're staying) is a somewhat New Age Eco-nightmare. He's also expecting everyone to begin their day with meditation, not one of Penelope's strong points.
But then she sees the same man she saw outside the cafe, and she begins to think that someone on the crew might have a stalker; she's not dealing well with panic attacks since the incident occurred, and there's no way to reach the outside world except by driving halfway to town - which gives her the one link to her homicide detective boyfriend, Joey.
Penelope soon realizes that things aren't always what they seem, and with trying to keep Jeremiah happy and deal with her own problems, she discovers that something isn't right and someone close to her might be in more danger than she knows...
I really enjoyed reading this book, so much so that I read it in one setting. I suppose I should explain what I meant about Jeremiah being an "Eco-nightmare". It's all well and good to want to save the planet, we should all strive for that. But to expect a hundred people to re-use dishes just isn't practical, especially when a crew of four are the ones who seem to be doing all the cleanup. I didn't read of anyone else helping out, even though he mentioned 'many hands make quick work'. Um, not his hands, for sure. I felt Jeremiah should have hired his own dishwashers to do that much work - and the trade off with how many times you'd have to run a dishwasher to clean that many items just wouldn't be worth it. It would take hours every night to clean that much. (Let's face it, you can't put hundreds of items in one or two loads). They'd have those two dishwashers - not commercial ones, by the way - running constantly, and there are Eco-friendly disposable tableware on the market. (Sorry - I notice details).
But back to the story - there was plenty of suspense going on, with Penny for the most part cut off from the world and having to figure things out without the ready use of a computer or cell phone. Her natural curiosity kept her involved in everything around her, from her friends to someone she recently met in town; and watching how she dealt with them, along with her own new found insecurities about what happened was definitely worth the read.
While Joey is trying to find out who's behind the robberies, he discovers another big problem at the police station that needs to be sorted out; and Penelope is trying to figure out who the man is who keeps showing up. When she finally starts to realize what's going on, it's nearly too late, but Penny has always been able to think fast, which is probably her strongest suit.
This series has always been quite entertaining, and this latest installment is no different. The characters are fully dimensional, the plot is always believable, and the story is always realistic. True to previous books, this one is a suspenseful journey to the truth, and a glimpse into Penny's mindset as she tries to deal with her own trauma. It is done so well that one cannot help but feel sorry for her personally, and root for her as she handles sudden complications to her standard catering routine while she tries to please her host and get through the shoot.
When the ending comes, it is all convincing and well done; all our questions are answered admirable. This was indeed a book worth reading, and Ms. Simmons has equaled any of the others she's written. Highly recommended.
Murder on the Rock is an engaging and relaxing cozy mystery. It begins with a motorcycle chase and moves on to a relaxing gathering of friends for brunch at a Glendale, New Jersey, café. Violent crime enters the picture and follows Penelope all the way to Vermont where her catering company has been hired to provide food for a movie production. The movie stars her friend and roommate Arlena for whom Penelope also acts as personal chef. Arlena portrays Helen Mills, tennis star from the 1930’s and 1940’s.
I have read another mystery in this series and from a comparison of the types of services provided in the two books and a short Internet search, I discovered that the sorts of food and service provided by companies like Penelope’s vary widely depending on the event, location, and needs and desires of the hiring group. That part of the story is almost as fascinating as the mystery. Penelope and her crew necessarily display a huge amount of professional flexibility. I recommend this book for both the mystery and the culinary background.
I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Henery Press for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Three Characters gather for a meeting and breakfast and end up in the middle of a robbery. They are set to work on a Movie. Arlena will star, another will offer set advice and Penelope runs the catering. Nadia, who offers tennis advice, is hurt by an attack during the holdup but the real nasty stuff for the friends will start once they relocate to Vermont.
Penelope's boyfriend is apparently a long- time character and works for the Police Department. Joey, with a new Partner, is tracking down the thugs while Penny and he stay in contact as much as they can. The Director insists the Catering Unit work with Conservation so they are not allowed to use plastic anything. They are out in the Country so far Penelope cannot even get service for her phone. She is also assigned to morning yoga. Her Catering Assistant starts a romance with the Brother who directs the Movie. Add a family argument over a farm and all kinds of sightings of a mystery man and you have a real "who dunnit!"
I had not read any of these books before so I have to admit I was lost part of the time. I definitely feel you want to read these in order. They have a lot of action and are easily read in one night. Joey and Penny have an ongoing romance that readers will build on... a fun read.
The movie catering premise for a series is a great way to create interesting settings. I particularly enjoyed the different red herrings and subplots that added interest and were handled beautifully as the book wrapped up. I do think Penelope and the other primary characters could have used more depth/development, and the catering wasn't particularly believable (again, lacking convincing development/details). Overall, a solid story with enough meat to be satisfying.
From being to end this was one very enjoyable read. Each characters was fun and unique from Jeremiah to Penny each character is fun and enjoyable.
Since this is the first in the series I have read the author was able to catch up readers fast without slowing down the current story.
Shawn Reilly Simmons doesn't leave any questions unanswered giving readers a very satisfying ending for mystery reads and readers of the A Red Carpet Catering Mystery series.
Thank you to Netgalley and Henery Press for the advance copy.
This an interesting series. Catering for movie casts provides unusual details and possibilities. An engaging and entertaining addition to the series. The publisher provided a copy via NetGalley for my voluntary review.
Penelope Sutherland keeps seeing a man everywhere, after she and her movie star friend Arlena Madison, find themselves in the middle of a robbery attempt at a café where they are having brunch with Penelope’s friend and tennis star Nadia Westin. Penelope is almost certain that this man is the same one who was involved in that attack and is both worried for herself and her friends and eager to help her boyfriend policeman apprehend the robbery perpetrators. However, Penelope can never seem to pinpoint where the man is exactly or find out who he is. Now, Penelope has joined her friend and Nadia to provide catering of food during the shoot of a film shoot Arlena will star in and the man continues to show up. When more accidents and strange things start happening, Penelope jumps head first into the mystery of what is going on and whether these events are somehow connected to the robbery at the cafe—in addition to running her catering company, who have been hired to provide the food for the shoot.
This is a nice cozy mystery. I have not read any other Penelope Sutherland mysteries, but that was not a problem, as this is a good stand-alone. Penelope is a strong, business-minded, hard working woman, which I found refreshing. In addition, she knows her business and how to plunge into a mystery, sifting through clues and events to find answers while not going overboard. The book reads well and moves along at a nice clip, making it an easy read. After reading I decided there was not much I would change about it. In fact, I now plan to read other books in the Red Carpet Catering series, figuring they will be equally as good as this one was. The story is easy enough to follow and understand, though I had never read anything else about a film shoot. I think most people will enjoy this book and especially the character Penelope. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.
Murder on the Rocks is the fifth book in Shawn Reilly Simmons’ Red Carpet Catering Mysteries series. The characters and mystery are engaging and the story moves along at a steady pace. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged and guessing.
Penelope Sutherland, owner of Red Carpet Catering, and her friend/roommate and actress, Arlena Madison, are having brunch at a local cafe with Nadia Westin, Penelope’s friend and tennis celebrity who is consulting on Arlena’s movie, when they witness a violent robbery and Nadia’s wrist is injured. When she arrives at the filming location in, Penelope learns that there is no cell service or access to the internet at the Vermont estate and that one of the property owners/directors insists all cooking and supplies are purchased locally and be environmentally safe, even mandating that no plastic water bottles or disposable plates/cups/silverware be used. While on location in Vermont, Penny experiences panic attacks because of the trauma she encountered during the robbery. Before the robbery, Penelope was watching a man staring at them from across the street and believes she’s spotted him among the movie extras during filming. When accidents begin happening to Nadia and another robbery takes place back home, Penelope wonders if the events are related.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.
Penelope Sutherland and her friends Arlena and Nadia are having breakfast at a cafe when it's robbed. She notices a man across the street watching and wonders if he's part of the crew.
Soon the group of friends reunites in Vermont on location. Arlena is the star. Nadia a consultant, and Penelope in charge of catering. Penelope seems to be developing PTSD from the events at the cafe. And the people in charge of the film are making things difficult by demanding she use locally sourced foods and no plastics. An attack befalls Nadia; and Penelope thinks there might be a connection to the events at the cafe.
Penelope's boyfriend, Joey, is a detective with the police. He is looking into things, but he is also suggesting they move forward with their relationship.
This is a good mystery. It's well written. It grabbed my attention and kept it. The characters are well drawn and interesting. The romance between Penelope and Joey is secondary. The plot seemed to flow.
I give this book 4 stars. I liked it enough to look into the series. It's written so that you could read it as a standalone, but I think you will want more of these characters. And the incidental information about how the film and catering services work is interesting. All in all, it's a good cozy read.

I'm so conflicted about this book. I've enjoyed the rest of the series, but this one didn't work for me the same way. I thought the mystery was a bit disjointed and there was one really weird part of it (see spoiler tags) that just completely threw me out of the story every time it was mentioned. And the movie set with the brothers was weird and felt like a not quite properly executed response to the #Metoo moment. I wanted to like it more - and I like the set up enough that I'll probably still come back for book 6 if it's at the right price
Princess Fuzzypants here: I have been a fan of this series from the first book. I enjoy the insights into the world of movies as well as the story lines. It does stretch credulity at times but it is a cozy and it is fiction. In fact, I can almost guarantee no movie set operates like the ones in the book but it does not deter the fun. Penelope’s catering business is growing, thanks to her talents and the help of her movie star friend. They are up in rural Vermont this time, out of range of any cell towers and forced into being as “green” as possible by the director of the film. Initially, he is an unpleasant character who, although he purports his commitment to mankind and the environment, treats people under his command in a very high handed manner. Happily, he is not without merits. They just need to be brought out. Amid the chaos of the logistics, it appears someone is targeting a member of the crew, a famous tennis player who is consulting on the picture. Many violent acts are committed before Penny realizes who is behind the attacks and why. I have become fond of Penny, her boyfriend/cop Joey, Arlena and her family, and Penny’s team. It is fun to be brought along on their adventures for a quick and easy read.. I give it four purrs and two paws up.
Penelope is one of the more likeable main characters I've come across in cozy mysteries recently. She's polite and kind, but can set limits to how much she allows others to push her.
I really liked how much attention was given to the catering job at hand. This author also wrote one of the best awkward dinner scenes I've ever read. For the most part, the mystery was well done. There was enough information given for me to have a pretty good guess at who had done what. I might have been happier if some of the more unpleasant people had ended up paying a bit for what they'd done, but that's the way it goes. Also, I didn't quite connect with Penelope's relationship with her boyfriend and actress friend. Perhaps that would be different if I had been with the series from the beginning.
This is the first book in the series I have read. I'd definitely like to stick around with Penelope for awhile.
Enjoyable book. I have read at least one other in this series and enjoyed it as well. Penelope is a chef extraordinaire. Her best friend is an actress, Arlena. Together they have adventures. In this book, they are embroiled in two mysteries/crimes. One has to do with a robbery at a restaurant while they were eating and another has to do with a mysterious man that seemed to be watching them at the restaurant.
I liked the characters. Arlena and Penelope are great. Some of the other characters you wanted to hit over the head! But that is what makes it fun, quirky people. They mystery was good and kept my attention. In fact I was a little surprised with both mysteries were solved. It wasn't what I expected. I would recommend this book to all cozy lovers.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my review.
This is book #5 in the Red Carpet Catering series. This is a fun, clean but exciting cozy mystery. Penelope owns a catering company and they travel with movie people to different locations. This takes place in Vermont. Her best friend Arlena is one of the actresses. They are filming a tennis themed movie so they bring Nadia who is a tennis pro. Things begin to happen but are they coincidence or is one of them under attack and why? There are a lot of quirky characters but it isn't too difficult to figure out the culprit although you can't be sure until more info is uncovered. This was a very enjoyable cozy mystery! I was lucky enough to receive a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
Red Carpet Catering's Penelope Sutherland is enjoying breakfast with her client Arlena Madison and tennis pro friend Nadia until two young men storm the cafe to commit a violent robbery. Penelope and Arlena are glad to leave the city to start a new film job based on a 1930s tennis star. Penelope hopes that the remote Vermont location will help her forget what she saw that day but it seems that trouble has followed them to the set. Nadia is a consultant for the film and maybe the target of a stalker.
This was a good read and another enjoyable entry in the Red Carpet Catering mystery series.
I received an eARC via Netgalley and Henery Press with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.
This Penelope Sutherland story flows nicely. Her personal relationships with Det. Joey Baglioni and actress Arlena Madison bring her joy. This latest Red Carpet Catering assignment at a movie shoot in a remote Vermont location presents many challenges created by the directors' eco friendly demands. When violence happens, Penelope is traumatized and that makes her more determined to find the persons responsible. Having followed this series since the beginning, I feel the writing has improved and the characters' relationships are calmer, making this a pleasant reading experience. I volunteered to read an ARC from Henery Press through Net Galley.
