This was an incredibly interesting read that gave terrific information about many fascinating women in the music industry throughout history. Many of them burned brightly but for too short an amount of time. I am looking forward to the next book that continues the topic of women in music since this is an area where I am definitely lacking in knowledge and details.

It was great learning about women who have changed music as we know it, especially five women out of the twelve in this book that I had never heard of before. These were Hildegard von Bingen, Louise Farrenc, Dame Ethel Smyth, Nellie Melba and Christine Amphlett. Christine Bennet was conscientious about citing her sources, and I was impressed by that.
Not as impressive was her amateurish writing style and numerous grammar errors. It was tiring to read the same points over and over about how a woman can overcome any obstacle, especially prejudice and misogyny, in her chosen field. Ms. Bennet often addressed the reader directly, which is something I seldom see outside of books written later than the Victorian era.
Ms. Bennet has a total of six books listed on Goodreads, including another one about musical women in history.

Worth reading!

In this book, the author focuses on women who harnessed the power of music to make meaningful changes in the world. The women in these pages shaped so many different aspects of music, from classical to blues to rock.

You'll get the new perspective of how musical women in history have left us with a legacy that can guide us through any struggles that come our way. Also, we can blast their songs and compositions as a reminder of our own power.

I highly recommend this book for everyone!

Wonderful book

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the next volume, More Musical Women Throughout History. Ms. Bennett has clearly done her research on these stories, and she writes them in a very entertaining manner. They are informative, but not boring, and I found them to be fascinating.

Well Written

I found this book to be just as captivating as its predecessors in the series. The meticulous research and skilled writing truly bring the inspiring stories of these women to life, making them leap off the page and into the reader's imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and am eager for more.

Interesting, but not what I was expecting. I was expecting biographies/life stories of musicians from a musical perspective. While there is a bit of that, the focus of this book is more political, detailing the struggles the women faced. Racism, feminism, the expectations of having a perfect body are detailed.

Interesting

I really enjoyed reading about these female musicians. These are things you don't read about in history books. I also like the way you wrote to the reader at times. It was a nice touch.

Great content, but needs much more thorough editing! Grammar and spelling mistakes were very distracting.

This was a pretty good book. Lots of famous people like Ella Fitzgerald and Janis Joplin. Also, lots of people that I've never heard of. Learned a few things.
