I Love Trucks! is a book featuring a young boy who tells the readers about the various types of trucks he likes and what they do. This book is a great introductory book to many different types of trucks for children who are interested in transportation. Science is exhibited throughout the book in the form of gravity and would make an interesting topic when reading this book. This book can also be viewed as social-emotional in nature as the little boy expresses his preference for trucks, especially the ice cream truck that brings ice cream to his house. This book would be a great conversation piece for the things your child loves as well.
A very simple explanation of what different kinds of truck do, perfect for the toddler crowd. This has bright, engaging illustrations, too! A nice story time read for 2-3 year olds!
I Love Trucks! by Philemon Sturges focuses on the roaring, rumbling world of trucks, revealing each truck's special job.
The text describes what 15 trucks do. Pages before and after the main text names each truck: tractor trailer truck, tow truck, street sweeper, bulldozer, steamroller, cement mixer, backhoe, dump truck, cherry picker (aerial bucket truck), garbage truck, forklift, pumper truck, police truck, ambulance, and ice cream truck. Brief facts about each truck are give. With large font, simple words and some rhyming, this will work as a beginning reader.
The bright illustrations will attract young listeners. Two page spreads at the beginning and end of the story show a boy playing with toy trucks with other truck behind him, including an armored truck, pickup, mail truck, tanker truck, flatbed truck with a load of logs, and a weiner shaped vehicle similar to the weinermobile.
This will attract truck fans, many of whom will memorize the text.
For ages 1 to 6, trucks, transportation, construction equipment, print motivation, community helper, and fans of Philemon Sturges.
There are probably dozens of books just like this one that name different types of trucks with very simple text and pictures. My son is drawn to all things transportation, so we've read quite a few of them. This one isn't particularly memorable or notable, but it's colorful. This is one of those books that my two-year-old is happy to page through on his own without needing me to read it to him, which is nice sometimes.
A cute picture book about a young boy who loves trucks describing the various types of trucks he likes. It is sure to please lovers of trucks and other things that go.
Very basic rhyming text introduces your child to a handful of favorite trucks...semis and tow trucks, street cleaners, construction equipment, garbage truck, and ice cream truck. There are also mail trucks, armored trucks, hot dog trucks, grocery delivery trucks, pick-up trucks and a logging truck in the background illustrations.
This book has great drawings and simple sentences. 2-year-old Graeme has memorized it. I liked also that it included a hot dog truck (reminiscent of the Oscar Mayer weiner mobile) in it's line of trucks.
My 2 year old son wants to read this book every night and I haven't gotten tired of it yet! The illustrations are colorful and fun. Short simple sentences are good for short attention spans ( mine and his) and also for big sis who is a new reader! Lots of different trucks too!
This book illustrates a community helpers and various transportation. A child names many of his favorite trucks and one’s most notable characteristic. I recommend this book because it takes readers through the roaring world of rumbling trucks and reveal each truck’s special job.
Do toddler boys love trucks? Yes! This was a great book to share at Tiny Tots with a "I Love" theme. One boy stood right in front of the book as I read it. Simple rhyming text. If your child wants or needs more details on trucks, share the information on the front and end papers.
First time I looked at this I didn't like it near as much as Byron Barton's "Truck" - but second, third and forth go round, it's a hit each time, cause indeed Stig loves Trucks!
