"Whaley is a blue whale that lives in the ocean. He is proud that when he grows into his full size, he will be the largest whale in existence today."

In this story, we follow Whaley as he meanders through the ocean. He meets a few friends, such as Owen the Orca or Harold the Humpback whale, along the way.

As we come across his friends, we learn little tidbits about their species, such as how orcas are the largest species of dolphin and humpback whales sing songs that can last twenty minutes.

Throughout the story, we meet many more ocean creatures, learning cool facts along the way.

Overall, this was a rather sweet book. It was written by a Carol P. Roman and her five-year-old grandson. I think this is such a fun family project and the illustrations are very endearing!

What a precocious young child to be able to write and illustrate this book. I'm blown away. My daughter was so inspired that she now wants to do this. Start them young, I say. Beautiful book. Beautiful images. Will treasure always.

Great book that takes a young reader on a journey to discover different types of whale species, written and illustrated by a very creative young man- my grandson, Alexander. He suggested that he write a book one Saturday, and this was the result. His Daddy helped him with the text, and his Mommy and I worked on his watercolors. I think he has an excelled career ahead of him!!

Whaley is a whale that is learning all about the ocean life around him. As he swims and navigates around and through his oceanic home, he encounters many different types of ocean life such as a Beluga Whale, a Whale Shark, and a Gray Whale just to name a few. Its a sweet take on a very large subject!

Not only do we get a chance to find out all about a Blue Whale and his daily life, we also get to learn many new facts on other sea creatures. All coming from the sweet imagination of a five year old bright little boy. The very well known author Carole Roman presented us this book illustrated by her five year old grandson. His drawings are simple yet very revealing as we follow the story and the whale facts contained therein.

REVIEW:

What an honor to read the debut book of Alexander Luke. What a talented young man. WHALEY'S BIG ADVENTURE tells the story of Whaley, a blue whale that goes of into the ocean to find other whales.

On his journey, Whaley makes friends with all sizes of whales. Some have names like, Owen the orca and the beluga whale, Brody. Master Luke has you learning where the different types of whales live and what they are like.

Whaley learns so much and has made new friends with the other whales in the ocean. This was a wonderful book, being written by a five year old, Master Luke, is written for children around that age. I have to admit, I'm not even close to that age, but I enjoyed the tale of Whaley all the same. The cute and colorful watercolor illustrations added to the adventure. This is a book that children or young-at-hearters can read or be read to. It is a good, clean, fun and educational book.

Master Luke did a wonderful job of helping all of us learn about Whaley and his friends. Thank you, Master Luke! and KEEP WRITING. You're going to be a best selling author one day like your grandma.

I received a complimentary copy of WHALEY'S BIG ADVENTURE by Alexander Luke from his grandmother, Carole P. Roman for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.

Whaley's Big Adventure tells the very large tale of Whaley the blue whale who sets off in the ocean to find some other whales that live in the ocean too.

Along the way Whaley meets different sized whales who have some fun names like, Owen the orca and Brody the beluga whale. With each page turn the reader discovers what part of the vast oceans each whale lives in and a particular trait or two.

In the end, Whaley returns home full of knowledge and new friends in the ocean.

I have been privileged to receive an advance pre-publication copy of this book from the author. I was not sure what to expect because I knew ahead of time the author's grandson had helped write this book. What I actually found was a well thought out book with adorable illustrations by 5 year old Alexander.

The illustrations are simple, colorful and cute as only a 5 year old would do. I loved the storyline and the fact that children and adults could learn a thing or two about the different types of whales that live in the ocean. I know I did!
I do recommend this for ages 3 up to probably about 7 years of age. If you are an animal lover, then this is one for you.

Congratulations Alexander, you now have your first 5 stars from me.

A young Blue Whale named Whaley swims the oceans meeting and learning about his fellow sea creatures, mostly mammals that will be big like him.

For children interested in large land animals like dinosaurs and such, this might be a good intro to large sea creatures. Especially since these creatures are still living and growing in our seas. These underwater dinosaurs are impressively described and wonderfully painted giving a perfect underwater feel. Learning facts about about the animals that my head can not fully fathom but it is a great precursor to later looking up actual pictures of the animals. To me it feels like a beginners guide which is good because it is always good to start somewhere.

I would like to see more of Whaley but maybe more with a story about his day maybe or his playdate that he eventually had with his friends. How do whales play? Do they have snacks and naps in the middle of the day? Do they go to “school”? Just a few thoughts I imagine might be fun to find out.

Whaley has a long life ahead of himself and a big playground. Out of the 40 whales that inhabit the oceans we are introduced to less than 10. Let’s hope that means more Whaley and friends.

This is written and illustrated by a young boy but even adults will enjoy young Luke's storytelling. The artwork is done in what looks like watercolors and is pretty accurate in its depictions. The colors are calming and every page adds to the overall story. The storyline is simple: Whaley, who appears to be a blue whale, is curious about other whales and goes on an adventure to learn about them. I don't know how accurate the information is but it should spark an interest in children to find out more. On each page we get information about the whale or dolphin pictured. If you want an actual story, this is not your book, but if you want to learn more about whales and enjoy cute pictures, read Whaley. Luke did a good job organizing his information and he has an easy, enjoyable voice. The book also works well as just a picture book. "Whaley's Big Adventure" will be enjoyed by children and adults alike and may inspire other children to write their own stories. :)

Did you know that there are 40 different types of whales living in the oceans around the world today? If you have little readers who enjoy whales, then this story will have them smiling from ear to ear.

Whaley is a blue whale and a mammal, which means he is warm blooded, and breathes air. Whaley is going on an adventure to explore the ocean and along the way he will encounter a lot of different types of whales. Whaley meets Owen the Orca and learns that Orcas are the fastest creatures in the sea. Whaley also meets Gary the Gray whale. Gray whales don't have teeth, instead they have a comb like strainer called a baleen. As Whaley continues on with his adventure he encounters Whale Sharks, Belugas and Sperm whales too.

Author Carole P. Roman educates young readers about all the different whales that live in the ocean. Water colored images give a sense of what it must be like to swim with these whales. Simple sentences make this educational story easy and fun to read.

Whaley is a big blue whale. He decides to see if there are any others like him. He ends up finding forty varieties of whales. He learns about each one and then shares all the information when he gets back home. Whaley even gets to have a playdate with one of the whales.

A debut book by Mr Luke, this is so well written and illustrated your children will love it. He does very detailed work and I am proud to have been one of the first to review it. We look forward to more work from Alexander Luke.

I found no issues.

I read Whaley's Big Adventure: Presented by Carole P. Roman, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book is a quick read, which teaches children about whales.

I have read the book multiple times to the toddlers (son and great niece) and they get a giggle at looking at the whales. They love the whales more than the words.

The book teaches children about the different types of whales and what makes each unique. Children will learn about Humpbacks, Orcas, Beluga, Gray, Sperm, and the Whale shark. Not to mention, Whaley is a blue whale. In the book, Whaley goes on an adventure meeting new friends along the way.

Written for kids BY a kid (he did the great drawings as well). I'd like to think that reading this will not only inform kids, but will also encourage them to make their own stories and illustrations - after all - kids ARE usually master storytellers.

Whaley's Big Adventure is an entertaining and informative book sure to please young children, particularly those fascinated by these enormous creatures of the seas. Young Alexander Luke was assisted in the preparation of this picture book by his grandmother and, between the two of them, they've created a cute easy to read and understand story that children will surely want to explore again and again.

Whaley a blue whale travels the worlds oceans to meet other whales. With bold pictures and just the right amount of detailed information on each type of whale the kids and I both thought we would know what kind of whale we were looking at if we saw one at the ocean. Whaley certainly has a big adventure learning about the other large whales and fish in the sea. The text is simple and easy to read. Cool facts for lovers of nature. The drawings are refreshing and very good for such a young artist. Great job Alex.

This was a really fun book. Carole Roman's grandson, five year old Alexander Luke, wrote it and drew the pictures. It's the story of a blue, the largest animal in the world, traveling the oceans meeting some of the thirty different whale species and giving info on each.

Cute,

I am always amazed at how courageous, creative and imaginative children are. Where many adults don’t have the courage to step up and fulfill their dreams of writing a story, so many children have become published authors. My kids and I love to read books written by other kids their age!

“Whaley’s Big Adventure” tells the story of Whaley, a blue whale, and his adventure in the ocean where he meets other whales and fish of all different sizes.

The story is written by Alexander Luke, who is only 5 years old! It is presented by his grandmother, Carole P. Roman who is the author of the “Captain No Beard” books.

My kids loved “Whaley’s Big Adventure”. The illustrations are water colours done by Alexander Luke. My kids thought the pictures were great, and they inspired them to write and illustrate their own stories.

Every encounter the Whaley has with another sea creature will introduce your child to facts about that creature. Mr. Luke has taken the time to use references that kids will understand. My kids and easily imagine exactly how large “Gary the Gray Whale” is described as being the size of a bus!

The story lines focuses mostly on giving us facts about the sea life. My kids loved to talk about which new friend Whaley would take home for a play-date first. My kids had fun telling each other stories of the different games Whaley and his friends played together. That led to a discussion on being a good friend. My daughter commented that even though each new friend was different, Whaley is able to still be their friend. It just might take a little work finding a game to play with a friend who is as big as a school bus!

“Whaley’s Big Adventure” is a great story that will teach your child about ocean life and is sure to inspire your little one to write his/her own story!

I’ll be honest when I read that this was written and illustrated by a 5 year old – I had big doubts – because even though my children are gifted in their story telling abilities I know that at 5 they wouldn’t have been able to write a book. That said I’m thinking Carole’s grandson may have dictated the elements he wanted included, like a playful blue whale who meets other whales and wants them to come home and play – but some of the more detailed facts, such as there are 40 different types of whales in the oceans today – were put int by Carole herself. I may be wrong but knowing 5 years old as I do they wouldn’t have been this technical in some details – although there are exceptions to every rule and every child. The illustrations did remind me of 5 year old, child-like drawings although more like drawings painted in watercolors.

Overall, I enjoyed this children’s book and I think it would be a good introductory read to young children probably in the age range of 3 to 6, the pictures are interesting enough to hold their attention and are child friendly. The short facts make it a short and easy read for children with short attention spans and without the ability to retain a lot of information. Whaley’s Big Adventure has much going for it, including making more adventures since only six types of whales are visited this time maybe Whaley could visit some more and give us more facts about the other types. I’d recommend this to someone with little children who want to introduce ocean life to them and give them some factual details about some of the more well known whales that live in it’s depths.

Ok first off I have to say that this is an awesome idea. The illustrator for this book is a five year old little boy and with the help of his grandmother, who is actually a children’s book writer, he published his first book before second or third grade. That is really impressive and now I want to do this with my family members. Can you even imagine the boost of confidence this little kid must have felt. He illustrator a book, and what’s more his pictures turned out so well you could tell that what his pictures were. I’m certain this kid will be a master artist in no time.

The book itself was certainly adorable, the illustrations were so cute and fun to look at. The book contained some fun facts about the different types of whales and as my family and I read along we just couldn’t help but enjoy the book because it was so darn cute. So in the end I will be giving this book a 5/5 star review and I really hope this little artist will do more books in the future. I am sort of wondering if he’ll be putting this book on his future resumes.

Whaley's Big Adventure is written and illustrated by Alexander Luke, the 5-year-old grandson of award-winning author, Carole P. Roman. Whaley is a blue whale who goes exploring in the ocean to find other kinds of whales. Lots of great information about a variety of whales and some of their characteristics. The book is illustrated with childlike drawings in watercolor blues and purples and make the book fun to just look through for children who might not be able to read yet. Another great offering from a beloved children's author.

Whaley is a big blue whale that lives in the ocean. He takes readers along on his adventure as he explores the ocean introducing readers to whales of all different shapes and sizes.

What a wonderful way to learn about some of the many whales that live in the ocean. Great illustrations bring the story to life and the informative way the story is written not only entertains but also informs and educates as well. Readers follow along as Whaley introduces them to various whales and shares a bit of information about them. An informative book that would be perfect for an afternoon read, or even used in homeschooling.

The author has a flare for writing children's books. The book is short and very easy to understand. It is still long enough to have the kids giggling and having a good time. The book encourages my children to want to read it by themselves. Each time you find a book like this you know your going to have an adventure!
