Doctor Helen A. DeRosie and co-author Victoria Y. Pellegrino undertook this book to give hope to countless numbers of women who suffered from some form of depression but did not realize they were depressed. They interviewed hundreds of women suffering from depression and found that, while many were still seeking answers, some of them were learning to deal with it, to overcome it. Far from an ineffective "cheer up" advice book, their collection of these women's stories provides practical inspiration for learning to deal with and depression and struggle towards better health.
If one can free herself from all the "should" in her life she shall be removed from depression.
Many specific samples are very helpful to help recognizing source of depression. Information on domineering vs love-addicting vs uninvolved personality are helpful. But on these less gender specific issues, there's not too much info on how to address them.
Discussed many women specific problems such as body image, marriage and children. Maybe more helpful for women already in these stages or serve as an alarm for younger women.

Just discarding old books. It's been years (actually decades) since I read this one - but at the time, I remember it being a "life-saver" when I was suffering from post-natal depression. It taught me to drop the word "should" from my vocabulary.
