Wonderful overview on language development. Focus is generally on young learners, but covers both 1st and 2nd language learning, cultural demands/differences, bilingual language development, and more. Good first book for those interested in how language, reading, and writing are first learned and mastered.
I found the information in this book interesting and useful, but it was quite textbook-ish to read. I especially found the content about second language learners useful, and I'd refer back to this book for classroom strategies in that area.
