Just a Quilt?
Just a Quilt? is a delightful story about six-year-old Chase and his imaginative uses of his prized quilt. This tale celebrates the wonderful creativity of children. In this story, his quilt is so much more than a quilt. Whether his quilt is a superhero cape, a dark cave or a magic carpet, it still provides the security of home. This beautifully illustrated book weaves a tale of a young boy's prized possession, well-loved coverlet (or blanket) which magically seems to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Share this delightful story with your child and imagine the possibilities.

This book brought me back to my childhood. I had a quilt that I took everywhere with me and it was so much more than just a quilt. This book is about a boys quilt and needing to pack it for a weekend away from home. Every time the boy's mother asks him if he packed his quilt, he explains how it is not "just a quilt." I would use this with grades K-8. As I will be teaching an elective on quilting this year, I would definitely share this book with my 6-8 graders. Things like quilts are powerful objects that carry much love. Love from the maker and the love of the recipient. The illustrations are whimsical and very happy. This is an uplifting story of childhood.
